Pretty sure he can do that...that's much less severe than 'debricking' a phone.

My phone's time is off by about 8 minuted and does not change as I go to other time zones.

A lot of HTC devices are easy because you can use unrEVOked. Painless root and flash

Yeah I don't think the Vivid is in the EVO 'family', so unrEVOked doesn't work on it

No its not you have to unlock the boot loader and leave it unlocked with the vivid for root but don't really have to do much with evo to get root but I wish I could use an evo with att

Okay what I meant was I won't get one of the ones where it's locked down so tight it's extremely difficult to unlock the bootloader. Most phones have "locked" bootloaders, but it's usually not too difficult to unlock them. I can't remember which ones, but there were a couple phones (Motorola-branded IIRC) recently that had uber-locked systems and took forever to just figure out how to root.

Although I'm not going to pay $450 extra for an unlocked bootloader. Verizon tends to have a poor track record of giving out unlocked bootloaders, and AT&T isn't much better. The line:

if the bootloader of the handset is unlocked, it would be very hard for the wireless provider to provide the normal level of customer service for the handset
Is complete and utter bullsh*t.

Att is the worst at letting you do what you want with the phone mostly because you can take your phone to what ever company you want besides art and also able to use the hotspot ap for free

Verizon doesn't let you use their hotspot app for free either (that may have changed with the new share plans, I don't remember. Don't care cause I ain't switching). But if you root, you can use other apps and without rooting you can use different apps that will tether through USB or Bluetooth.

Foxfi on the play store let's you hotspot for free with no root required

Foxfi does not work with HTC vivid rooted or not haha I miss the built in wifi ap
