View Full Version : BF3 on PC questions
Hey is anybody using a 360 controller on the PC for BF3? If so, what's the set-up process? Plug n play, or do I gotta map buttons manually?

Well IMO it's hard to compete with controllers against mice - you just don't have the turning speed or precision. I believe it is plug and play, but I don't know for sure - I don't own one.
I do think I fly Helos better with the mouse/keyboard combo, but I can't act quick enough as a troop. Switching to my backup or knife is a chore. And using equipment takes a bit too. I lose too much in the way of reaction time

Have you tried remapping keys? I've found most games' default mappings are crap. Also, a mappable keypad like the G13 or others is a godsend.
G13 plus Naga mouse is a nice combination to make sure everything you have to do is mapped somewhere you won't have to search for or reach for.

I haven't done anything yet cause I haven't gotten my 360 controller adapter in the mail yet. I was just wondering how to set it up. I've read that BF3's support for controllers is total shit. I don't know if they fixed it or not. I may have to go with a G13 type set-up if it doesn't work. I can't be looking at the keyboard wondering what key does what when I'm getting chased by a tank!

Yeah I heard a lot of gripes about the controller support towards the beginning as well, but I haven't played in so long that I have no idea what they've done since then. But using the G13 was great; I set one mode for on foot, one for ground vehicles, and another for birds. I still sucked even after I figured all my mappings out, but at least I didn't suck as bad as I did before.

Or you can go with the Razer Nostromo gamepad...

Yup, most definitely. There are a few options out there as far as gamepads go; I generally only mention the G13 because admittedly that's the only one I've had experience with.
So after buying an Xbox360 controller adapter for PC from eBay.....it doesn't fucking work. I followed the YouTube instructions on downloading the correct drivers for it and the fuckin thing just blinks. Like the adapter and the controller can't communicate with each other. Frustrating.
So I whipped out my old Mad Catz MW3 wired controller, plugged it into the USB port in the back and wouldn't you know it, it seamlessly integrated into my system. I am officially an idiot.
