Just curios, has anyone tried this thing or one of the earlier versions?

I've been keeping an eye on this for some time now but it's still on the pricey side for me personally. From what I've read, the wireless version is still glitchy but there's a firmware upgrade next month so we'll see how that pans out. The earlier two versions are supposed to be better due to their firmware upgrades but they're wired, which is still okay in my book considering they're cheaper.

But it still brings up the question of, is this cheating? In my opinion, not really. If someone wants to shell out $80 bucks then more power to them. I see it as no different than buying a driving wheel for race game. On the other hand, there is a button on it that allows you to adjust the pan speed on the fly giving a person using it a capability not available to one using the standard PS3 controller.

I'd like to hear your opinions on this and your experiences if you've used one before.

Read a lot of reviews on them. and the PRO (wireless version) seems to suck ass.
The regular one v2 seems ok, but the build quality supposed to be crap.

After all the reviews I orderd the fragnstien from Bannco. build quality supposed to be a lot better, should be here monday and I'll get it set up and ready to play with on tuesday. I'll give my thoughts on it after that.

I'm a PC gamer, always have been and i just totally suck with a controller. I don't think it will give me an advantage in game, just hope it makes playing FPS on the PS3 feel a bit more normal/comfortable.

yeah, i personally don't think it gives a big advantage in most aspects. Yeah it has a mouse that could theoretically allow you to have faster movement, but it is not a true mouse. It is a device shaped as a mouse that emulates the movement of a thumbstick. The big advantage i see in these devices is the ability to drop your sensitivity down on the fly when sniping. Outside of that i think the gain is not too substantial and benefit people such as Lorimere where they are just more comfortable with a mouse. The ps3 is capable of using a KB/M setup though, i don't know why they don't try making more games that utilize that option.

Yeah, I've been reading the same thing about the Dual SFX Frag Pro too. There's suppose to be another firmware upgrade for it coming up in the next week or so. Guess we'll have to see.

Ok, I'll give my quick thoughts since I'm not much on reviews.
I freaking love it!!

Now it is not the same as my gaming mouse on the PC. But it is pretty close. And while it doesn't make me super awsome or anything, I do feel really comfortable using it. Numchuck is pretty well designed, easy enough to move your character around and after playing hours I have no discomfort at all.

The mouse works pretty well too. Its heavy and it feels really well made. Took me awile to get it set up to where I really like it, and probably could use a bit more tweking on the settings, but I am satisfied.

The most important thing for the mouse is the surface you use it on. I started with a white side table and that worked ok, but I went and cut a piece of white plastic (like made for yard signs), and that seems to work really well. I'm sure there is better but using this the mouse is pretty accurate. Micro movements could be a bit better(so long range pixel sniping isn't as good as a PC), but I'm sure it could be better if I took the time to fine tune it more.

Takes 2 AA batteries, one in each unit, and they seem to last for a decent while. But would still suggest a 4 pack of rechargables so you can hot swap if you need too.

Only problem I have had is that it will lose its pairing with the usb hub when I plug or unplug anything else in the other usb slot. But it is just two button pushes to repare it, and just takes a few seconds. *Just a note that this doesn't happen that often but thought I'd mention it.

So my verdict is that if you are already really good with a controller, It might not be worth it. But if your a PC player(like myself) who just can't aim for shit with a controller, its a godsend and while a bit expensive, was well worth the $75($90 including shipping) I paid for it. Hell, only $25-30 pver a dual shock 3 when you think about it.

Oh, one other thing, loading the new firmware can be a pain in the ass until they get thier drivers signed. its not hard, just more of a hassle. And while they tend to make specific pro drivers for high profile games. the new generic 2.2 drivers seem to work just fine for MAG.
