Superior Court of California, County of Orange
20102011 Recipient of the Ralph N. Kleps Award for Improvement in the Administration of the Courts
The first program of its kind in California, this veterans court is a dedicated criminal calendar offering therapeutic treatment instead of incarceration for combat veterans. The first-time offenders served by the court have disorders arising from combat experience, including substance abuse issues, diagnoses of posttraumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, and other psychological problems.

we have 3 in PA in Pittsburgh, Philly and this year we started one in our county York. I'm one of support groups helpers who get called when a vet is arrested to help them get help rather then locked up.

That's good stuff. I'm glad I know about that. Do they have to request the veteran court or do they automatically get sent there?

well for you its Allegheny county, what going on now was Penn DOT was ready to have all Veterns in the 3 countys get new driver licenses with Veterans written on top, but now veteran's from other counties are upset and want the same DL's, being fought in the state leg. The process would be take your current DL with your dd-214 to a Penn DOT DL center and they give you a new one, but now we have to wait and see. You still get in trouble but the out come might be different like DUI, if the guy is a Veteran with problem and he is just drinking, they would suspend the trial if he goes to the VA and goes under treatment and then does nothing wrong for several months to years. That how it should work but I'm sure some one will mess it up.
