Some of us did this last year, and it was pretty fun. The cool thing is your donation can go to your local children's hospital!
It is on 10/20/12. We can do another USMG team, any takers? :lever:

Thanks Teddy for the reminder!

I'll hold off on registering though until we decide what all we're doing.

I think if I get a good idea of it and tell some people about it, I van raise a couple hundred minimum . So do I play the Full 24 hours? I just need basic details. Driving down the highway right now.

Yes, basically your are commiting to playing 24hrs. It doesn't have to be that particular day, but I think the idea is to try and get as many gamers on your team together, and just play. There is no score keeping or tracking, it is an "on your honor" event. I think it would be great if we can get our different console gamers together, set a day for each, and play the 24hr! :clap2:

24 hours of straight gaming wew... haha. I tried that once... bout died! Haha, I will do my best to get setup and get this rolling. I think we can definitely get a lot of the ELITE squad together for this too!

Thank you to everyone who has joined the team thus far! For those of you who might not want to joint the team, please consider sponsoring some of our team members who are playing. This is for a great cause, and I am hoping that every year this becomes bigger and bigger for us. USMG's motto says it all, and we are hoping that we can do more charity events in the future.

Bump. So here's the deal. This just became very personal to me. One of my dearest friends 8 year old neice had a brain aneurysm last week. She is at CH in Pittsburgh. I have been signed up for this event since it was announced, and if anyone has the resources, I'm trying to raise at least $200. Tell your wives and Facebook friends, or if you can't make the event yourself, at least pledge a couple dollars to one of the USMG members on here. We are all so used to taking lives overseas, let's try to save some over here.

And now I'm off my soapbox, sorry to be abrasive guys.

The tally doesn't show the 100 I added today, I had a few gamer school kids give me the cash and I added a little to make it an even 100.

Freaking Awesome! Thank you so much to everyone who has supported the team thus far!

I apologize for not being around to keep this up front. Work gets insane this time of year.
For the xbox players, you all can try to coordinate if you all want to get some game time in together, and when.
Not sure we have many PS3 players, but shout if you are.

Its what I believe in I grew up poor, and beaten and was given a chance, just want to return the favor. I volunteer coaching, we donate quilts to the nursing homes, I work with kids where I work as a school district IT database manager and safety coordinator, and a certified Spec ed Para. I would give blood but was deployed pretty much everywhere that makes me disqualified lol. My girlfriend is like me a giving person. I don't need a pat on the back, but if I am not online gaming I am usually volunteering and I get as much out of it as the kids. I spend time with half way house kids, cause I had an alcohol and drug problem in my early adult life.

It's not a competition, my brothers used the network as kids years ago and I have had kids hurt at my schools and needed help, so I really want it to still be there for more kids.

Yeah, facebook largely struck out for me, even after a got a radio station to repost and like it. I'll have to try again next year, preferably without my daughter finishing up a 3 month tour on the inside....that kind of hurts donations for this kind of thing.

I apologise in advance for sounding like an idiot but what is this whole thing about? I read the original post is this a tourney to raise money for a hospital?

It's to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. It's not for one single hospital, but rather a network of them across the country. Everyone who wants to participate tries to get a sponsor/sponsors to pledge money for them as they game for a 24 hour period. All the money raised goes to the aforementioned network of hospitals and is distributed among them.

The people that are participating can "represent" a local or regional children's hospital of their choice, so long as it is in the network.

Go here: http://childrensmiraclenetworkhospitals.org/, click on "Your Hospital" to search.

My son goes to the one in Lexington, KY. Although it's not listed proper, they are going to enter into a partnership with the University of Kentucky in the near future to build a new children's hospital there. I could've designated for the Kentucky Children's Hospital, and it would've supported the Shriner's in that locale in a roundabout way.

Naw I think it's a more recent thing that just hasn't gotten all the way through the service. It's just the AF trying to differentiate themselves from the Army.

That makes sense. I'm only 4 Years in so that's probably why. We have been getting fed that HUA shit since day 1.

And I don't know that 'hua' actually stands for 'heard, understood, acknowledged' - I know whatever acronym there was for "hooah" was a backronym, and I think "hua" was as well.

Got an email, apparently I was high enough overall to qualify for free dice. I'll post pics when they come in...should be before Thanksgiving apparently.

I just checked and it looks like Extra Life is just shy of $2,000,000, which is a very big feat.

Also checking the page at the link below, it looks like US Military Gamers came in about 125th of 2,413 teams! Can I get ya'll to sound off on the epic amount of badassery our community unleashed? HOOAH!:bounce::clap2::eyebrows:

Wow, 125th is freaking awesome! I have to say, even though there weren't many on the PS3 during this event, I still had a blast doing it! 24hrs of gaming isn't nearly as easy as it sounds! 3am-6am was the toughest for me. I went through a whole bag of reeses mini, 1/2 a bag of kit kats, and about 4 mountain dews. :faint2:

I started 10 am Friday and went to about 6 pm Saturday. No breaks at all. I did eve and mw3. Even eating and with my 4 yr old. I could have gone longer but my wrist was getting sore. I was good at night, the hard part for me was about 7 am. But my son said he would keep me awake lol
