View Full Version : [PC] Proud day at solo
I finally can Rat solo, maybe not the largest NPC's but I don't even get down to 90% shields even if there are 6 of them. Not a big deal to many, but I struggled to rely on others to survive and did market runs in lo sec and mining, now I can truly choose mining or ratting for income. I continue to train but a milestone for me.

Grats man, its truely an event for a new capsuleer to rat on his own, now u can make a good income like the rest of us lol
So my proud day kinda turned, I know a lot of people want to do pvp fleets, but I am in QYZ and have no money to " buy everything" down there. I just learned jump clones tonight, I thought the mining and ratting were ok to be doing. Might need to start browsing corps. I don't take being bitched at about a video game a fun time.

The overall tone of that alliance mail you're talking about kinda bothered me, too.
But remember this... He's primarily talking to more experienced pilots with higher skill levels (especially cap ship pilots) who are leaving their cap ships in alliance space for ratting instead of moving them to the war zone for combat.
He's not really yelling at the newer guys that can't even fly an SRP ship yet. Or those of us that are still stuck in hi-sec because we lack skills or equipment to survive in null-sec.
I was told in chat to get down there and buy something in UMI by ghetto. I worked him yesterday on finding out what 1st 2 weeks skills I skipped, like jump clones. I have implants worth more than I have in ISK . So I tried jetting down there and was 4 jumps away then a group of 6 hostiles tried catching me. They were pissed cause one caught his own team in some trap. I zigzaged back to qyz. I only had my Tristan tackle. I have that, 3 unfitted beginner ships , a almost AIF DRAKE AND 3 mining ships, 2 I use the other I surprisingly got back from eve, they said server lag was bad that night so I got my ship full of ore and all the fittings back. I like the guys in out corp, USMG or not but these guys have all these ops and some of us can't live on there like that. I get one 3-4 nights a week and it's hard to do that. We have a mining OP planned since last week tonight Lets see what the alliance guys say to us carebears. I still don't understand the whole UMI situation. I need to go back and read our other EVE forums.

I think the problem you've run into is that this is a PvP corp.
As far as the corp is concerned, indy/trade/mining are just methods you use to earn ISK to keep your toon in combat.
If that's not your mentality, and you can't find a way to work around it but show up enough to keep the alliance officers quiet, it may be that ultimately Risk Breakers may not be the corp for you.

Thats how I am feeling as well. I think like when I play MW3 or BF3 I am a support role person, yeah I can fight when necessary, but I like helping others succeed.
I should have stayed Hi sec and not joined until I could do level 4.

There is always EVE-Uni. They take just about anyone....especially new players and literally teach them how to play. Plus there are always fleets of all kinds running. They use their calendar alot and stick too it, so you know what going on and can plan accordingly. They will never berate another player and they understand the perils of the new guy. They have tons of info, and specifically, it would behoove one to follow it, especially the part about paying attention in space etc etc...they do get a bit P/O'd when players get caught in an area that has a travel advisory set on it by the leader ship, but all in all, they cover all aspects of EVE.

Would they be a good corp for me to join as well? If so, how do I go about applying?

Alot of the info they allow without being a member, I love the guys I play with now, but the PVP or else demands and berating is pissing me off and makes me want to stay docked, that makes it not very fun.

There are support role options for PvP fleet combat. Doing fleet support roles can actually make you quite popular in a PvP corp. Unfortunately, if you focus on training for support roles, you'll have to sacrifice your ability to do anything solo for awhile.
I'm not sure what to suggest. You kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place.
I haven't been out to 0.0 yet myself. Recent events, comments, and EVE-mails have me reconsidering whether or not I actually want to, after all.
I was originally sold on the corp switchover because of all the great PI, mining, and industry opportunities out in nullsec. If we're not allowed to actually do those things... it's starting to feel like a bait-and-switch.

Crazy thing is we have a mining op planned out for a week and then now there are a bunch of fleet ops suddenly planned last night for tonight to screw us over. I am gonna stick with Tim and the guys for now, but I really didnt know we had to do the fighting PVP stuff, I didnt know about it when we were told FUB was switching to Riskbreakers, or I missed that part.

Well, I went ahead and suicide-jumped my combat pilot out there.
There are only about 4 "approved" corp fits that I have skills for. I don't have all of the components to actually fit any of them. The components I'm missing aren't for sale anywhere in the region.
So, I'm stuck in I-7 with nothing to fly and nothing to do (not an indy toon), and since I suicide jumped, I'm earning fewer SP than usual, as well.
The point to all this being that you're not the only one that's currently stranded in null-sec. Cheer up. ;-)

There are Rifters and some fitting stuff in the corp public folder that are free to use. I can now fly and fit the T1 Drake except the drones. I used the Rifters before I could afford or fit any of the others. You might try that.
I'm going to be on in a couple of hours let me know if I can find stuff for you and I have 3 good miners you're free to use 1 of them or any extra items I have I have missiles bay also we are part of Q y z so you can go over there and see what may have to. also many times the local guys will have extra stuff they will lone you or give you

Eve Uni has pretty detailed join reqs. It just takes a little set up time. It took me about 3 weeks to get in, only because I am rarely on. That was with an alt....I never told them I had 4 accounts.... just 1.
