My in laws have a farm. Nothing super special, an old barn, 3 mini ponies and some chickens. They were both raised on a farm and now are thinking about actually doing farm work. Well for Christmas I built them a little home for their mini horses and they loved it. Well this Christmas I'd love to make another. Contribution to the farm but I'm not sure what to do. I was hoping some of you might have an idea that wouldn't be terribly expensive but would be a big help or I guess just a luxury to have?

Depending on what their property is like and how many chickens they have, look at making them a chicken tractor. It is basically a portable chicked cage that goes around the property helping fertilize the property. Google is faster than me at explaining it. This is what I found quickly: http://brighamcitychickens.blogspot.com/2011/02/public-input-at-next-planning.html

Also look for the magazine "Hobby Farms". It is a great little magazine and they would probably really enjoy a subscription based on what you have said.

Or just a chicken coop period. Or a greenhouse. Or a boxed greenhouse.

Both excellent choices and what I was going to recommend.

My first job was working on a peach farm. I also picked other types of fruit and veggies lol
