So for all you Dragon Age fans, and I know there's a couple of us, Bioware has officially confirmed Dragon Age 3, entitled Dragon Age 3: Inquisition. The biggest news at this point is the fact that it will be powered by the Frostbite 2 engine. Very little in the way of confirmed information is available at this time, though.

Last rumor I can think of had you as a whole new protagonist, with Hawke and your Warden in the background.

Couple of new nuggets of info, and one big bold statement. DA 3 has been postponed, and will be a next-gen release.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/11/28/dragon-age-iii-shifts-to-next-gen-aiming-for-2014

As for those nuggets:

- We'll be seeing another human protagonist, along the lines of DA2 rather than the "choose your race" of Origins.

- Lead Writer David Gaider returns to the set. For those who don't know, he was the principal writer for both Origins and Dragon Age 2.

- One level in DA3, whether a specific level or an average one isn't specified, is the size of every level of DA2. At worst, this means they're getting rid of DA2's excessive reuse of levels, with a couple of large ones as well. At best, it means they're going back to Origins and improving on it.

- It's the first Bioware game to run on Frostbite 2.

- Flemeth will show up, possibly alongside previous protagonists The Warden and Hawke.

- Bioware is looking in to ways to have decisions carry over without importing save files.

- And finally, it looks like you'll get a castle. In Origins you had a camp, and it pretty much sucked. DA:2 gave you an estate, with a little bit of funny to it, with the interactions with certain items, but pretty much no customization. Awakening did give you Vigil's Keep, which had a couple of upgrade quests, but nothing really visible. Personally, I'm hoping for something more like Assassin's Creed, with visible and tangible upgrades and a reason to do so.

Couple of other things that popped up in other articles.

Combat is going to be tweaked yet again, in an attempt to fuse the slow yet strategic combat of Origins with the faster paced combat of 2. Also, they'll be working on making teamwork important again.

Customization is going to be significantly expanded in DA:3. Apparently armor will change slightly to match the equipping character's aesthetics. It sounds like the protagonist and each companion will have a "look", similar to DA:2. But will be able to equip any armor that drops, like Origins.....however that equipped armor will tweak slightly to match their "look." Which will be kinda cool.

The story of DA3 will be a continuation of what we saw at the end of 2. The goal in this game is to basically "Save the world from itself" in the midst of a civil war between the Templars and mages. And since they have hinted that you may come across the paths of previous protagonists, and all but downright confirmed that Flemeth will show up, it's pretty likely we'll come across companions from previous games as well.

To be honest, this alone is almost worth picking up the next-gen console. Well, this and Star Wars: 1313.

Good shit man, ill be looking out for DA3 when it comes out next year or early 2014 since its going to be next gen. Im looking forward to seeing what they can do with the continueation of the great story they have going. I want them to continue it to where The Warden, Hawk, and the new hero run into eachother becuz they have it right now The Warden and Hawk are both missing now.

A couple more tidbits on Inquisition. Couple of articles really hyping the artwork they're able to make with the Frostbite 2 engine, the lack of "brown", and an official confirmation that Inquisition is coming to Next Gen consoles.

Also, in unrelated tidbits.....Mass Effect 4 will use Frostbite as well.

Morrigan Isn't in Your Dragon Age: Inquisition Party
"I think it’s important for us to be upfront about that."
by Luke Karmali AUGUST 13, 2013

BioWare has confirmed that Morrigan will not join your party in Dragon Age: Inquisition, though she does have a pivotal role to play in the plot.

In an interview with Game Informer, Dragon Age's creative director Mike Laidlaw explained that the Witch of the Wilds wouldn't be reprising her role as a companion from Origins, and the team was keen not to mislead people on this front.
"I think it is fair for people to understand that [Morrigan] will not be a party member," he said. "That’s going to disappoint some people, but I think it’s important for us to be upfront about that."

This doesn't mean she won't be prominently featured in the game, however. Writer David Gaider was quick to add that Morrigan wouldn't just feature as a "cameo", and would instead play "a significant role." Quite what this role may be remains to be seen.

"[Morrigan] has a human role in this plot," said Gaider, "which may surprise some people because they might only think of her as a plot device. She has this big plot she's involved in, and while that's true to an extent, I'm taking her to a human place. That will make sense after the fact."

The last time fans actually saw Morrigan was in Dragon Age: Origins as she never appeared in the follow-up game, despite being referenced several times. Gaider also assured players that their interactions with Morrigan back in the day, such as whether they romanced her or not, would "play a role of varying degrees" in interactions with her in Inquisition.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is due out on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC sometime in autumn 2014.

Aside from a huge slew of customization options, it looks like a major change from initial reports is coming as well.

Like Origins, you will be able to choose from multiple races when creating your character. Human, Dwarf, Elf, and.....ahem......Qunari.

And the biggest news of the day.

DA: Origins had something like 600 different data points that transferred. Everything from race and origin, to who you slept with, to who ended up on charge and who died in the end. Awakening would have a couple hundred more data points, and DA: 2 would likely fall on between the two. Any way you slice it, there are well over 1000 data points that make up DA: Inquisition's backstory.

This already had a couple problems, and the move to Next-gen only compounds that problem. But Bioware may have a solution. Strike that.....they DO have a solution.

Called Dragon Age Keep, this cloud-based game function allows you to tailor your backgame to fit your needs. You may remember this from Mass Effect 3, but you likely remember the severe limitations it had. Whether it was as little as a quick comment from the doc you spared, or as massive as whether or not you saved Wrex......there were some severe missing points.

Bioware says they've learned from this, and will let you set as little, or as much, as you'd like. And even better, it'll be a lore basis for people to read up and rediscover options.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-08-28-dragon-age-inquisition-allows-you-to-tailor-your-historical-world-state

And, they are currently accepting signups for the Beta.

Some words on endings.

Small number of wholly unique endings, up to 40 major variations dependant on in-game choices. Hundreds of minor variations dependant on less important in-game decisions + previous decisions.

Official release date served up, Oct. 7. So much for Shadows of Mordor or whatever. Link also has the trailer. Can't wait, I'll likely be preordering after work.

Looking like this was delayed until 2015 as well and as expected. I just wish devs were realistic with their damn games from the get-go.

I have been grinding Destiny but I am quite taken by what I have seen in blips of DA Inquisition. I am not so sure I want to just jump into Inquisition without playing Origins and DA 2. I bought them both for PC (gee thought I was going to be able to use the xbox controller-not!), so wound up buying both again for the 360. I did jump into the "Keep" a few minutes ago to check it out. They are having some problems there. I was very excited by Destiny so I am not going to allow myself to become too enthusiastic yet. I also have purchased Morrowind, Oblivion, and of course Skyrim I have spend a big chunk of my life with Skyrim in the past year. I am looking for something similar to Skyrim. I need a story and I am not a PVP player. I am hoping Inquisition will be the one.

Pretty sure the closed beta is wrapped and it's open beta now. Signed in over the weekend with the right account, my beta email isn't the same one I've played all the games under.....

Still very excitable, my default world is all set up for launch.

I thought it was great, spent about 90 hrs in the main story. About 10 minutes in multiplayer.
You lucky Xbone & PC owners get the Jaws of Hakkon DLC before us poor PS4 owners. I want more
and I want more Scout Harding.
