Black Ops 2 Prestige Info

Was dinking around and came across this article on Black Ops 2, detailing a bit better how prestige works. And for those of you who have never hit that prestige button because you don't want to lose all your hard-earned guns, or want to level up a specific gun and get everything.....now you don't have to.


Let's face it, the biggest draw why Call of Duty sells each year is due to the game's compelling multiplayer. Like it or hate it, a ton of people play it. It's the right blend of gameplay mechanics that are easy to get the hang off, and that's coupled with the morphine drip-feed of leveling up.

In saying that, this whole leveing up thing has spawned a life of its own within the franchise. Simply called "Prestige," it means resetting your rank once you've reached the maximum rank to show how "L33t" you are and whatnot at the cost of resetting all your unlocks, gear, too. Well, that won't be the case in Black Ops 2.

Well I wasn't going to prestige this game but if it doesn't cost me resetting anything I probably will. In fact if you want to unlock all the weapons and attachments and stuff it looks like you'll have to. Good thing I haven't been blowing my tokens on stupid crap just for the hey of it.

I still have like 8+ tokens. I don't use them on shit I know I won't use! I unlocked the Greed Perk 1 but don't know how to use it! Says I'm maxed out for my class?!

If you want to use your greed 1 perk, you have to give up something. Like your second weapon, or your second tactical geranade, or a weapons perk.

Im playing this on PC. Its ok, I am more of a BF fan, squad concepts, fire and movement. etc etc. In BO, I just play nuketown...run around like a fool with your finger on the trigger. My biggest gripe is weapons damage....is it me are do these games put emphasis on SMGs?

You can only have 10 items selected. Weapons, attachments, perks, etc. I have 5/10 all dedicated to my primary on one class. Weapon, primary gunfighter, 3 attachments, no secondary and no tactical grenades, for example.

In order to clear out a slot, highlight it and press x. Works with weapons, perks, grenades, etc.

That's the curse of CoD... since MW2 and BLOPS 1 the SMGs have been the dominant gun class... MP7s, UMPs, UZIs... all over powered

I saw a dude on the Battlefield 3 beta one week after it was out...dude had 3d11hr of play time (which only counts when you're actually in a match, meaning he had several more hours of time in between matches). He was on literally half of every day!!! I think once the game came out it took me 6 months to get that much play time in.

Sorry if this has already been answered elsewhere, but are their actual clan levels in this? I can see where I can make a clan tag, but I don't see where I can choose an official one for our group. Do we just all have to come to an agreement to use the same one? I guess I don't really see how the clan is supported in the game officially. I am probably missing something.

Yes, but it requires challenges and ops, which haven't released yet. Same way we leveled up the clan during MW3. As soon as they get released, we'll be able to start leveling up.

Also, emblems are individual......only difference between the emblems in this game and the ones you chose in MW3 is that those were predesigned, and these are custom made.


Though the clan does have one made by Kant, on the Elite page.

I prestige my rifle last night do know what that get you other then you have to unlock all attachments again.

Supposedly all your attachments are already unlocked if you prestige. You just have to re-unlock all your weapons again. Thats what one of my buddies said who has prestiged.

so far nothing then more challenges for the rifle, you have to start over unlocking all attachments but your skins stay. I have seen challenges for prestige level 3 for weapons. With prestige 2 you see your clan on your gun

So is the basic premis behind why you would prestige, so you can get more unlock tokens? Am I correct in my understanding that you only get 55 unless you prestige, then you can get 55 more each prestige? Then after the 10th one they unlock everything for you? Do you have to use your tokens prior to prestiging our will they carry over? Sorry for all the questions, the info I've been finding online seems kinda vague.

You can prestige yourself, as well as your gun. When you prestige, everything that you've unlocked re-unlocks when you hit its level. So no unlocking attachments or camo. If it's unlocked when you prestige, it stays unlocked when you hit the level to use it.

Weapon prestige resets your weapon attachments, but gives you the clan tag and emblem on your gun, from prestige 1 and 2 respectively. If it's a gun you use a lot......it's totally worth it.

Don't Warhammer, after 5 jack and cokes all this shit in BO2 makes some sense, so you prestige your self all your weapons you unlocked stay unlocked with attachments, now when you prestige your gun you add your name then clan to you gun but you re-lock all the attachments. Remember you get tokens to unlock shit so you have to prestige to get more tokens to unlock more shit, so they created Meth video game tokens that make you keep going until you have unlocked everything.

The worst was WaW... From across the map, SMGs owned even sniper rifles. It was dumb. All anybody ever ran with was SMGs. MP40s I think were the main squeeze IIRC. I remember running with one of those almost exclusively, but it's been a while so it might have been something else. I think they patched that after a while though to nerf SMGs.

I've got about 20 tokens saved up and I think I'm going to wait a while before I prestige. Here's my logic... The only thing that actually resets when you prestige is your level unlocks, so you can max out several weapons and keep the use of ghost longer. The only downside is that it'll take longer to max out prestiges, but the first one only took a week so I can't imagine its really that much of a disadvantage.

I'd rather be maxing crap out quicker with everyone not knowing your every move since everyone uses a uav in this game.

Apparently they removed it from public ranked matches but it can still be played privately. I imagine they figured out that if you played that map exclusively the matches went faster and you could get more kills. Double XP was based off of end match not in game stuff like MW3 was so faster matches meant more double XP in the same amount of time. I saw a 4 th prestige guy in a lobby so it's probably a move to slow ranking down.

Agreed, especially when I payed for access to it on PC. I played it the most because it was fast paced and enjoyed it. Granted I prestiged fast, but its not a game breaker. I spent my token to permanently unlock the An-94. Now I either play headquarters or ground war.

I believe once you prestige, you get a prestige token to spend on anything that you want perminantly unlocked. Onc eyou use this token, no matter how many times you prestige, the itme will be unlocked. I believe it can be used on weapons and perks.
