Ok from November sales I figure (from the Forbes report on software sales) 12.5 million copies sold in US another 20 million worldwide. On line so far only 7.6 million have played on line. This means a lot of copies are waiting for Santa to come calling. Prediction week of December 25 it will take forever to get on line and get into a match. The only bonus is all the newbies running around.

It comes with free Live, so kinda doubtful. And it's not like there's a huge chunk of the population that is buying CoD for the single player campaign.

While there may be a couple, but not enough to skew this too much.

I know it comes with a free live but most internet providers charge 100 dollars a month for internet service. Especially those who have the fastest speed for better connectivity. I pay the much and to some, that a ton of money to be spent per month. I originally bought CoD for the campaign mode but was re-introduced to live.

There's absolutely no way that the majority of the people I'm playing against are paying 100 a month for internet. Especially with the number of tines I'm getting "Wanted" shot with those curved bullets. More like $9.99. You may be paying $100 a month, but that's not even close to the average.

And yeah, there might be a token few, relatively speaking, who bought this for the campaign and will never touch multiplayer. But the overwhelming majority of those missing games are going to show up the week after Christmas. Just like last year. And the year before. And both years before that. All the way back to the year that CoD and Halo broke Live.

I haven't ever seen internet for $9.99. The cheapest I ever had was intro to Comcast for $19.99 for 6 month then up to around $45. That wasn't the fastest speed either.

Knology who I am with now would charge $60 / mo for internet only at 12 meg download.

Yeah I wanna say it's either their 750 kbps or their 1.5 mbps package. They may not offer it anymore - they did like 2 years ago. Pretty crappy.

Netscape, Netzero....Comcast has it for low income families. Point is, internet isn't some $1,000+ a year expenditure. Low end of High-speed, cable and DSL, run under $20 a month.

And not everyone in the "gaming community" is quite as hardcore as you are when it comes to their internet coverage.. Especially when a lot of them more than likely aren't even paying for it, but milking off Mommy and Daddy.

You do prove a valid point. I used to have Comcast and you can't even get any kind of internet service from them that's under $99. Maybe the prices of internet varies from one place to another

Oh, they absolutely do. You can get Comcast out here for anywhere from 20-200. I want to say there are 3 or 4 packages that specifically target gamers.

Interesting. I know Comcast has different types of speeds but they def don't start at 20. The cost of living here is pretty high and the average income is well enough to charge the amount they do

Everyone is right. There are a lot waiting to be unwrapped on Christmas. But there is a surprising number of xboxes that have never been connected to the internet. Many parents have internet, but they don't care to spend the time to connect the Xbox.because they see it as a self contained toy. Also there is the online enviroment they don't want to expose their kids to. It seems counterintuitive that they'd buy their kids an m rated game, but they fear that if they talk to strangers on the internet they'll get lured into being kidnapped.
