Yeah. I wonder, though. Since it's so old (and apparently fully automatic), was it ever registered with the NFA? If not, how would you go about doing something like that now​?

Not sure but I'm pretty sure you could go to your local gun store and get the info from them

Maybe. But I doubt it. That's such an obscure issue (finding a pre-1986 automatic weapon that was never registered), that I wouldn't even know that the NFA would have a clear policy on it. They have a lot of grey areas that just suck to be in.

You can register for a Federal Firearms License. I have been draggin with my paperwork....its expensive to start....and maintain....but it would be super fun to blast the MP-44.....but iirc its a very odd caliber. 7.92x33 Kurtz I think.

Being as it is an automatic it would most likely have to be registered under 1934 nfa ever since 1934 had to 'register' handguns also

True, but you could still construct and purchase them until 1986. As far as getting an FFL, to possess a 'new' auto weapon you have to have a dealer licence, and to have that you must prove you are selling items. They closed a loophole a couple years ago where you could just get a dealer licence and get auto weapons.

It is legal however to own the parts that make a weapon auto. Eg. On gun broker, occasionally you will find M16A1 trigger groups that are new old stock, in box for around $160. If you have an AR15 lower that doesn't have the extra casting to prevent the third position on the selector, well....if the poop hits the fan or the zombies start feasting, you are two minutes from full auto. In the meantime, you gotta keep em' separated.

But the first generation m16's aka stoner 16 are coming up on being a curio& relic especially the only fully functional with out issues stoner belt fed m16

idc if I dont have any sort of pratical use for this gun but all I know is I'm gonna get it and I'm gonna be happy
