    Houston Teacher Beats Student

This was on the national news earlier in the week. Thoughts?

A Houston teacher caught on a cell phone recording beating a 13-year-old student is apologizing.

Science teacher Sheri Lynn Davis says she's "without excuse" for her attack on Isaiah Reagins at Jamie's House Charter School, a Houston-area alternative school. She says she's "very regretful" and sorry that it happened.

Teacher Beats Student; Allegedly Lashed out After Teasing

Davis was fired Monday after the recording of the April 29 beating became public. The boy's family says he suffered a black eye and other bruises, and has been taken out of the school. His mother has also filed a lawsuit against Davis and the school.

Davis' attorney Chip Lewis said Friday there was much more to the story about what was going on at the school, but would not give specifics.

The school has said it handled the situation appropriately after learning of it.

    Re: Houston Teacher Beats Student

I'm not saying that there aren't 13 year-olds that don't deserve to have their ass kicked... God knows I'd like to kick a few myself...and granted we don't know the whole story, but in this day and age where there are cameras every (i.e. the cell phone that recorded this), maybe that teacher would've been wiser to just drag him down the hall to the office before she hauled off and hit him in front of everyone.

Indecision may or may not be my problem.

Ok....#1. Why is this so called teacher dressed inappropriately??? #2. I don't care what that boy did. She had NO right to strike him. If she would have just restrained him it would of been a whole lot different. This bitch acts like she was taking on some dude that just stole her crack in the hood...

I myself have experience with working with kids that go to Alt. Schools. I once drove School bus loaded with them. I had 5 different Schools that I took them to. The driver before me had ALL kinds of problems with them. They would throw nuts, bolts, M&m's etc... at him. The 1st day I drove I got out of town and pulled the bus over and had a little chat with them. I was smart enough to turn the bus key off so, the camera couldn't hear or see anything. I basically told them that my job was to get them to and from School safely. So, any shit flying in my direction I would stop the bus a bang some heads. I wouldn't EVER do it but coming from a a big guy like me...It worked. I also learned that if you find something about these kids that they like (ie..Hunting, Pokemon, video games etc) and just talk to them like your they're your friend and everything is just fine.

One time a kid got on the bus. He always sat behind me and we would talk about Pokemon. He said " Look what I brought in today" I looked in my mirror and he pulls out a pistol. I just said "Wow...that's cool can I see it and he handed it to me" It was a BB/Pellet pistol but, I had to call it in and go throw the process. The thing is ... I do believe IF I didn't have a good re-pour with this kid, it could of been a lot worse. The real kicker is that his Mom told him that he could take it to School to show his friends. :o :? I also seen a lot of or knew some of these kids' parents. The parents sometimes where F'ing idiots themselves (Ie...like the story above). Some of the kids did'nt know how to act and some just couln't help it. I still see some of the kids that I drove and they go out of their way to say Hi to me. A couple of them even went in the Military and really done great for themselves.

I agree with River...some kids need an ass beating but, not from a Damn teacher!!! With the BS we have been seeing the past few weeks about Schools. It makes me wonder if they are really doing backround checks on these people. So, there is my 2cents!!!

I swear, if my kid ever comes home and says the teacher hit them. That teacher beter hope they can get to Mexico before I find them. No teacher is justified in touching a child, call the police if you need to do something drastic. What the hell is going on in this world. Have you guys heard about that POS out in China hacking kids up in schools?

Timmy..I just searched the China killings up.http://www.thestar.com/news/world/ar...death-in-china WTF..That is crazy!!!! The School district my kids go to is very strict on people entering the School. You have to ring a buzzer and they have you on camera when you do it. They then open the door and you go threw a metal detector and have do you have a photo ID on you. Another thing there are camearas all threw the Schools inside and out. I am not saying that things can't happen but, I feel my kids are fairly safe from BS like this. Oh, by the way they have a State Trooper on duty at all times in the School.

    Re: Houston Teacher Beats Student

You know what's crazy, not to long ago I heard of some teachers and staff getting in trouble/fired for calling the cops on a student they couldn't control. The cops ended up handcuffing the student in order to control the situation. The cops also had some repercussions from this also. ! I am sure there is more to story though then what I heard.

I don't think teachers should hit students, but when they take the proper course of action, they get in trouble too?

    Re: Houston Teacher Beats Student

I dont know what the kid did, but if the Kid never does it again........Then lesson learned. Honestly, when I was in Grammer School Teachers used to have Wooden Paddle for children that got out of line. Now for those of you who say a Teacher better not put their hands on your child, I challenge you to make sure they dont have to. My upbringing was one of love and Respect for my parents, not friendship. I am damn near 30 and my father and I are not Friends, thats fine because he is a hell of a Father. My son and I are not Friends, I am his father...if he gets out of line he gets his ass torn up.........He will always address other Adults as Mr. or Mrs/Ms. and he will always answer with yes and never with what. These parents who are suing make me sick, they know their child is a lil piece of Shyt and he probably deserved it. I would counter sue their asses for Failure to Raise a responsible and respectful Young Adult.......I am not saying that this teacher was right for kicking his Ass like he stole something, but this happened in April, so she has been his Teacher since August, maybe she had enough.......Who knows...........The Fact that its an ALT School lets me know that his parents couldn't correct his behavior enough in time to keep him in a standard school.......The Future is bleak for these people....I will get to meet these 13 year olds in 5 years....Thats when the Real Fun Starts

Rookie...I agree with you on the upbringing part. As you can read in my previous post I did mention that a lot of these kids don't have the proper upbringing and don't know any better. Some parents feel that Alky and drugs are more important than taking care of their kids.
My boys don't dare to disrespect others because they know they will have to deal with me. I also don't have to beat my boys either. You can ask all 3 of them how many times I ever spanked them. It is amazing how taking their privileges away hurts them. They understand that there are consequences for everything that they do. Hell, my 15 year old gets his GF taken away when he is punished.... I feel that I am a Father AND a friend to my boys and would HATE to find out that they didn't like me. I feel I have done VERY well raising my boys and have done it without their Mothers help. My oldest is Graduating next month and is going to Law School. I tried the Military trick with him but, he is quit set on being either a State Trooper or being a Conservation Officer.
The part that I disagree with is....She had NO right to beat that kid no matter what he did. She does have the right to restrain but, not hit nor kick. Another thing is that I think this Teacher is full of shit because in her interview TLOG posted. She was asked if she had any training to deal with violent kids. She stated she didn't. I think she is full of shit because to be a Special Ed or Alternative School Teacher there are courses you MUST take and requirements that must be met before you can be a Teacher for these type kids. At least, this is all a requirement here in NY State. I bet the Kids Fathers Lawyer punches HUGE whole threw her BS.
