I'm gonna throw this out here and see if any of you tech savy people might have some ideas on my next step.
I have an old 5th gen video iPod and a few days ago it decided to stop playing sound, both through the headphone jack and when connected via the port on the bottom. when squeezing the corner of the iPod i could get sound to come back on but only while pressure is applied. This told me that obviously there is a bad connection so i opened up the case to find it.
i located the component by pressing them down individually with headphones plugged in so i could hear when sound comes back in. It seems to be this chip here:
now here is my issue. I don't have a micro-soldering kit, i only have a standard soldering iron but it doesn't seem to matter because the board is dual layered (i can't flip the board over to access the pins to re-solder) and it seems the chip is surface mounted with an adhesive. Any ideas on what i could use to fix this connection problem without being destructive and prying the component off the board and remounting?
