BC2 update today

This update drops today on PS3 so be aware because the servers will go offline. Not sure for how long, may only be a few moments while they apply the patch. Whatever the case, expect to download updates this afternoon

On Thursday 3rd June the PlayStation 3 Bad Company 2 servers will go down for maintenance. On your side of things at around 08:00 UTC (09:00 UK, 10:00 Europe, 02:00 Pacific) you will start to see prompts to update your PS3 when you next put Battlefield: Bad Company 2 in your disc drive.

The update includes the following changes:

Kit images added in spawn menu
Fixed the "required rank" field on the unlock items specified on the W&G page
Added M14, NS 2000 and G3 in-game unlock pop-up when the requirements for unlocking them are reached
Added a server side check of the veteran status of the players
Award bugfix for "Win all 4 game modes" (it had marksman headshot as a dependency)
Garand did not track anything, Thompson tracked Garand.
Increased the penalty points for TeamKill and TeamDamage
Increased the reward points for Objective Actions (Flag Cap/Assist, Arm/Disarm/Destroy/Damage/TeamDestroy/TeamDamage)
Fixed veteran rank number not showing up in ingame scoreboard
The southpaw setting now works for the anti-air gun and the Stationary AT
Collectible weapon messages fixed

Now you can go out and get your Garand stats you have all been waiting for.

Edit: This update will go out on PS3 in all regions including Japan.
Xbox 360 update is also in the works and is due in the very near future.

as of this morning I can still not get past 14% on download. May not be on again until tomorrow

I had an issue with the patch too ... took me 3 tries to get it to start and finally stick. What it was doing was causing my PS3 to reboot. Kinda disconcerting. Once it was able to get some traction it DL'd it and patched just fine.

Anyone else have this happen?

My patch installed without incident last night. Though I didn't notice, I'm glad they upped the points for objectives. Maybe we'll actually have more people covering/attacking the m-com crates?

I heard we'll be able to get our points after we die to. I never got my mcom points if i got killed defending it after i set the charge.

I had no issues with the download last night. I love that you get 250xp now for getting the m-com stations, and I got 50xp for shooting it with a Carl Gustav. Oh and the marksman headshots give you more bonus points. Needless to say, Timmy is happy. Now they just need to fix out so that it doesn't lag so bad I get dropped from the server.
