Would be a nice money maker for Sony though, they would get a royalty of every xbox sold.

Business is business and there are no hard feelings. MS already makes money from the VC-1 codec used for blu-rays but no one ever talks about that. Licensing bluray to make money makes sense. Just not this late in the console life cycle.
