Been playing this game all week on PS3 and I have to say...it is really good fun if you have kids and they are into the Harry Potter movies![]()
The levels are pretty much like the other Lego games, with loads of stuff to collect and unlock, as well as some tricky puzzles and objectives that are fun to work out and easy for kids. The Harry Potter game though is better IMO because it has a trophy collection, unlike the other Lego games. The multiplayer option is drop in, drop out, the same as before and it splits the screen if you wander too far from the other player .....rather than forcing you to stay together like with Star Wars.
The Hogwarts School maps are massive and you feel as though you really are exploring the place as in the movies. The story lines are really funny with their facial expressions and actions and if you know the films, you will recognise most of the characters instantly. There are also bonus levels that you unlock as you go along and can be played from the bank vault whenever you want.
You have to play through the entire story board before you can unlock all of the spells needed to collect some of the items necessary for the complete trophy collection, but you can then go back to Free Play for all levels to do so. Also there are plenty of cheat codes if you really feel the need, or are too lazy to go through the whole rigmarole of getting them, but to be honest (apart from the 10 million stud collector trophy which you need to collect in a single level) you can get by without them. I can see how they are helpful for young kids though.
My daughter is 9 and is a big HP book and movie fan and she absolutely loves this game. It's rained hard all week this week...and this has been her saviour from boredom!
The only negative I could find really is that there is no online player option, which would've been fun if you could play with friends like Little Big Planet.
I have really enjoyed playing it and only wish I'd played on my own account now....cos it's probably going to be the only game I ever 100%![]()
I guess I'll just have to play all over again some other time
