    Help Compressing a DVD

    Does anyone know how to compress a DVD into like a single AVI or WMV file? Do I need DIVX? BTW, this isn't copyrighted. Just a home video.

    Save as avi, encode with divx. Should get good results. Typical 4gb DVD ripped and encoded with divx yelds a 750mb file.

    run it through windows movie maker. no need to add anything, just save as, and it will compress it for you.

    Other wise, I think you could run it through a program like SUPER> http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
