    Weight Loss

So, any suggestions ont he quickest way to lose like 10 pounds?

My max weight is 186 and I seem to be getting stuck at 190 which is extremely aggravating.

Thus far I have been going to the gym and running about 3 miles and biking about 2.

I diet like i should be.

    Any ideas here folks?

You'll lose that in basic from drilling in the San Antonio heat alone. Don't stress it.

The quickest way is to run to walmart and grab a bottle of exlax. We used to call it the green monster. It's a small greenish bottle that tastes like horrible sprite. I would suggest getting that and some sprite to chase it with. Drink that and eat nothing but saltine crackers. I did this and I lost 12 pounds in 4 days on that stuff before boot camp. After you do the weight in a meps it doesn't matter if you gain some weight back after that. Not the most pleasant way to lose weight but definitely the quickest.

i can concur with what DBG says. If you are just fighting for those last pounds to get through meps then this is an effective way to do it. The bottle of crap is called Magnesium Citrate. If you like sprite you won't mind it too much but it has a funky after taste. That will help you drop water weight temporarily. I'm surprised your recruiter hasn't already told you of this yet lol.

***this is a temporary quick fix and is not very healthy***

Only use the green monster method if you really need to. If you are just trying to lose weight for the sake of losing then go about it by normal means with PT and dieting

also another trick of the trade as far as quick fixes for passing a test, if you are close to taping out (body fat%) you can use hemorrhoid cream. It sounds gross but trust me. Rub it all over your waist and wrap tightly (but not to the point of hindering breathing or anything) with saran wrap. as the cream dries it will tighten your skin and make you look sort of wrinkly but it will take off that little extra you need to tape out.

The reason im trying to lose weight is to keep my job.Not sure if it's true or not but i was told going over my max at a DEP call will make me lose my job, and regardless, i would prefer to be at the weight needed to go to basic without being disqualified right when i go to MEPS for the last time.

i personally have never heard of that. When i was in DEP i just had to be at the proper weight for the last day at meps or i couldn't ship. it didn't affect my mos, just would have delayed me more if i wasn't within the limits.

Yeah the only way I could see it messing with your mos is if you are delayed at meps because of being over weight. Then they send you packing and the slot that was open in the mos isn't anymore. You would then just have to wait unit the next opening for that mos. That might be what your recruiter means. But I have never heard of someone while in DEP lose their MOS just for being over the weight limit.

When I hit a wall with weight loss I just wiat for the kids Flu season if you have kids they will bring it home. Just have to start working out as soon as you feel better. This might sound insane but I usually loose 5 to 10 lbs from the kids flu. If you don't have any kids find a frind who does and go over when they are sick. The other thing to do is stop drinking.

    Re: Weight Loss

When you are in your 40's you need anything that helps. About 39 my BMR slowed to a crawal, so I kill myself working out to the point you are sore all the time, but I had kids late in life so I have to keep trim as a role model for them.
