On this side or the other, we will meet once again.
info on how to get early access to the multiplayer beta can be found on this post:

since they specify "early access" i'm assuming it will go fully public after a few weeks of the limited access open beta phase. I'm also wondering if they will do an invite only closed beta phase prior like they did with resistance 2.

Just an FYI for those who aren't tracking, the public beta for those who received a special code with SOCOM 4, it will kick off August 4th.
The beta will expand to PS Plus members on August 23rd. Here are some details of what to expect:
SOURCE: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/...ts-august-4th/The Resistance 3 Beta includes two of our major maps in the game, the Seaside of Glamorgan, Wales, as well as a Trainyard in Bogota, Colombia. The Public Beta includes two of our five multiplayer modes, Team Deathmatch and Chain Reaction (the other three are Deathmatch, Breach, and Capture the Flag). You can level your character up, buy and upgrade weapons and abilities, customize your loadouts and unlock new character skins. We have capped the level in the beta at 20, so you won’t be able to get the full range of abilities, modes, maps, and weapons until the game launches in September, but we hope you enjoy this taste of the experience while helping us test our online infrastructure.
The beta will continue beyond the Early Access period, and we’ll be announcing additional ways to get in as we get closer to Resistance 3′s launch date. Can’t wait for Early Access? Some of our media partners will be giving out codes next week that will let you join the beta a couple of days early. We’ll also be giving out some early codes on our Twitter and Facebook account, so follow or Like us!

The Resistance 3 public beta kicked off a little over a week ago and despite the current matchmaking issues we were still able to get online to tussle with some Chimera scum. To put it simply, the Resistance franchise has taken a large turn with its latest installment – with many of the changes being for the better.
The Resistance 3 beta contains two game modes, the ever popular Team Deathmatch and Chain Reaction. The former is what players have come to expect from online shooters, with players fighting until one team reaches the kill limit – or time runs out. Chain Reaction features a neutral command point in the center of the map and the two teams battle over the spot until one side captures it, pushing the other team back to their fall-back flag, and then back again to their first. There are five command points in total and the objective is to capture them all, in succession, until one team is left without a command post. Neither of these game modes are new to the genre, but they do work well – due to Resistance 3‘s lowered player count.

Anybody else getting this, I'm probably going to pick it up Thursday. Dying for a decent shooter to hold me over until battlefield comes out
Don't be mad. Everything I post is "lol."
Aliens invading my house! That's not very cool is it!
What date is this out again Max? I must prepare myself and batten down the hatches
Yes Lady, i downloaded the beta just so I could help defend your house which of course can be seen in the distance on that map. On the second round though you switch sides and fight as the aliens though so I guess i'm sort of negating my efforts. Unless I intentionally sabotage the match whenever i'm playing as Chimera lol

Lol I just played seaside ... It was pretty hilarious! I saved my house
Seriously though, the houses on that map are American houses not British lol! We have brick and stone houses not wooden. I couldn't quite work out where it was supposed to be. There's a lighthouse but then there are quite a few lighthouses on the coast near me. It's quite hilly too so possibly near the beach I was at last week cos that has some pretty big cliffs lol.
Anyway, it was a bit weird seeing my home come up as an online warzone map lol!
keep in mind that the game is set around 1957 so maybe wood houses were more common at that time? Then again, the aliens have been there since the early 1950s so I imagine a lot of houses were destroyed and people wouldn't have time to build proper brick houses again.

With Resistance 3 almost upon us there isn’t much, as far as the gameplay is concerned, that Sony hasn’t shown us. What they have yet to really detail though, are those behind-the-scenes creative moments – showing developer Insomniac Games at work.To create a better sense of the minds behind Resistance 3, several making of trailers have been released – one focused on the weapons of the game and the other on the game’s soundtrack.
