Best Buy, Target launch video game trade-in programs
Retail giants Best Buy and Target have launched in-store programs for consumers wanting to trade in their used video games.
The Best Buy trade-in program launched this week in 600 stores, with additional stores joining soon. Consumers who trade in games will receive Best Buy gift cards. According to a statement from Best Buy, the electronics chain will also sell pre-owned video games "soon."
Consumers can trade in games online as well through Best Buy's website.
Target's in-store program debuted in northern California on Tuesday, and will branch out to additional stores next month, says a statement from Target. About 850 stores will host the service by the end of the year.
The program works similarly to Best Buy, with consumers earning store credit for each game they trade in.
Target also has a partnership with company Nextworth to trade games online.
