    Droid X

Anyone here have a droid X? My wife just ordered one, but it won't be in for 2-3 weeks. I am just curious what you think of the phone, and if there are any "must have" accessories or apps for it.

    Re: Droid X

I don't have the droid X but I do have the HTC EVO. The both run the android operating system. I would go on the android market and get "easytether." You have to install it on the computer too from your phone but you will be able to use the internet on your laptop from the connection of the phone.

I actually don't use that app anymore since I opted for the $29.99 wifi hotspot option that I have with sprint on the EVO. I can even game with my PS3 running the connection of my phone. It can have up to 8 devices connected with it.

With the tethering you have to be rooted otherwise you get charged for the tethering.

What exactly do you mean "rooted"? I am new to the android os, so this doesn't really mean much to me. :?
I didn't opt for the wifi charge, so does this mean I can still tether with it?

The "easytether" you don't have to be rooted to use that. I wasn't rooted and it worked fine for me. But, with "easytether" you still have to be hooked up to your laptop with a USB. So it's not wireless but still runs the internet just fine.

    Re: Droid X

I just checked out the easytether, and it doesn't support mac yet, so that won't work for me. I did see where originally you could use the bluetooth with the droid x for internet, but I am not sure if you still can or not?

It's worth a shot to try and do that than when you get the phone. These Android phones are very powerful and I am loving every minute of my EVO.

    Re: Droid X

I am really hoping it doesn't take 2-3 weeks to get, but my luck it will take longer. I did get most of the accessories ordered for it. I am still needing to order the multimedia dock, which looks cool.
My wife isn't too excited about getting her phone, besides her getting to facebook.... :?

    Re: Droid X

Only thing I noticed when I looked at it, "It big", very big...
With your wife carrying it, most likely in her purse, probably not an issue; but its too big to fit in a dudes pocket. :o

    Re: Droid X

OH YEAH! The phone came in yesterday, and we are LIVE! Granted this is the first droid phone we have owned, but it is AWESOME! I know I am late to the droid party though. Anyway, now that my wife has it in her hand, she is all over it! She was up for hours last night downloading and setting it up. Smoke is right though, it is pretty big. When you are talking on the phone, it is like holding a book up to your ear!
