He wanted to be like "Dexter"? WTF?!

    From the Associated Press:
An Indiana teenager has plead guilty to murder of his 10-year-old brother, stating that he wanted to be just like the killer on Showtime's popular "Dexter" TV series, played by Michael C Hall.

Andrew Conley told police that he was playing with his brother Conner when he locked his hands around his neck. He ended up strangling him with his bare hands for 20 minutes to make sure he was dead. Andrew then placed Conner's body in a garbage bag and dumped it in a park near their home. He later drove to his girlfriend's house where they watched a movie.

Andrew confessed that he had an uncontrollable urge for murder (likened it to being hungry) and had also considered killing his father several times. He added that he felt like the fictional "Dexter" character after strangling brother.

During his statement, Andrew said he was very sorry and wasn't sure why he did what he did. "I will accept wholeheartedly the punishment I am given and deserve," he said.

Andrew was 17-years-old during the time of the crime and thus will not face the death penalty. Instead, the teen faces 45 years to life in prison. The judge will sentence Andrew within a few weeks.

Indecision may or may not be my problem.

holy crap, that's outrageous! He went to his girlfriend's house to watch a movie? What has our youth become these days?

seriously though, that is a crazy story but i find it annoying when they throw in an irrelevant tid bit of info for dramatic effect.

"He fired 12 rounds from a high caliber rifle out his kitchen window, injuring 4 people and killing 1. Then he went on Facebook 20 minutes later and played Farmville"

is it really needed at all to add that last little piece? not at all.

Unfortunate story none the less, just didn't care to hear that he watched a movie afterwards. Well since we are adding irrelevant facts can we at least know which movie it was? I need to know which movie is most pleasing to murderers so i can avoid watching it

Gaming is staying up 'til 3am to earn a trophy that isn't real.......BUT IS

Ah, the downward spiral of our youth. I blame video games.

But seriously, you know people are going to say the show "Dexter" is the reason. To those people, come on, really. You need a reason, the guy's a frickin' NUT JOB, how's that for a reason.

Re: He wanted to be like "Dexter"? WTF?!

People have been trying to place the blame for their childrens' actions for decades. I remember many years ago when two boys blew their brains out with shotguns, and the parents tried to blame it on Judas Priest because the boys just happened to have been listening to their music prior to their suicide.

Video games, movies, TV shows, music...the blame has been put on these outlets for as long as anyone can remember. The reality is, the blame lies in the actions that the parents do or do not take.

Indecision may or may not be my problem.

The actions he took after the murder are entirely relevant. It tells us what kind of crazy the kid is. When there is this kind of cold blooded heinous crime you wonder about extenuating circumstances, the kids mindset, if he felt remorse. Now I know, nope, just totally psycho and without remorse. Normal people don't do this kind of thing, and they certainly dont without a care or second thought. kid needs to be locked away, and it's a good thing he got caught after his first murder. there would be many more to follow if he wasn't.

Dexter is an awesome show. I still can't believe how season 4 ended.
