A "Must" Read.
I have to totally agree but I believe that there is a balance. I've criticized our news media of portraying our military losses much more than our victories but the true be told, I think it's does bring a balance of reality to those that haven't served and my look at these games as a desensitized reality. The reality is that it is entertainment and not reality and I believe that people who play military games know that.
"Never make fun of a person before walking a mile in their shoes... That way, when you do make fun of them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes. :P "
I think one point they make is that the military isn't great about telling kids going in about what war is really like. I'm all for the military and for serving your country, but I think you need to know what you are getting into. Yes you will be a hero, but you need to know that war isn't indiscriminate toward heroes.
I think it needs to be the responsibility of the one enlisting, his parents and the military to ensure that the kid is well educated and fully understands what he is getting himself into.
"I've never had a conversation with a dead guy before. Forgive me if I don't know the rules."
