check this out it seem not to like the rings of death I have happen twice with my 360.
Got this from my tech site...
Since this error occurred, we obviously contacted Sony Support. We were informed that the code is not common, and a simple reset of the system, and restoral of factory settings should do the trick. Unfortunately, after the restoral, the error still occurred.
The error code is actually one of two things, a) a faulty sector on the internal hard drive, or b) a faulty installation of software/firmware, both iterations actually coincide with eachother. If the hard drive suffers a faulty sector ( a section of damaged space on the drive that data may have been written to that no longer is readable), an installation may still be processed, and even work, but the error can cause some serious side effects, such as option b. If your PS3 has installed an item incorrectly, including firmware, it is in high risk of receiving this error.
Silent But Deadly!
Sorry to hear about it bro...recommendations to avoid the error are a little too general to take much stock in. Dust your PS3, make sure you have a stable internet connection, update your firmware properly, etc. Common sense, in other words, though it's not going to help any of you already getting the error -- the other allegation is that once the error occurs, you'll need a replacement PS3 from Sony. No ifs, ands, or buts.

I've got one other thing I can try and then I'm calling Sony. Hope I can get on guys. I'm getting withdrawl symptoms already

if i reset the system I can play mw2 and watch blu ray but when i exit them it drops the whole unit. when i put mag in and it goes to download the update automatically it won't install pass 28% and the unit goes down again. online it says i can format it and redownload and that should fix it. hope it works.

I hunted everywhere to find my first ps3 because i wanted a 60. It cost me more used than a new one would have been

I just got back from a trip to my battalion late last night and had almost forgotten about this until you said something. I'll look my machine over before the weekend is up. I don't think there should be an issue as far as compatibility goes between the blu-ray drives on the older machines, should there? His is a 60 GB and mines and 80 GB. I know there were some variances in some components between these machines aside from the hard drives and the emulators that Max mentioned.
Indecision may or may not be my problem.
as far as i can find, the bluray drives for the older models should all be compatible so there should be little issue, just a pop and swap job
