Nice, Congrats! Here in IL, it is hard to get in the hunter safety course because they only have them once or twice a year.
I have been wanting to go wild pig hunting, but haven't had the time or money. I hear it is a pretty good time! I don't think I would want to use dogs though, that seems to take some of the sport out of it. Not to mention, I am a dog lover, so I would get pissed if one got hurt while hunting (which I hear is common while boar hunting).

I know what I am going to use for my huntin, but, want to hear some recommendations.

-What kind of rifle?(brand, caliber, etc.)
    -Scope? No scope?
-What kind of sidearm(if any)?(brand, caliber, etc.)
    -What kind of shotgun?(birds)

If I ever get the time, I want to teach my Black Lab to bird hunt. That is the only time I would use a dog.
