Just saw a report that microsoft will be offering cable TV over Xbox live in the future. What are your thoughts.

Anything that will help me cut some of my cable bill cost I'm up for it. I'm really thinking about switching to Hulu.com and really hope the PS3 offers the new Google TV with a future update.

My wife sales for cisco system and last night I was showing here the new stuff on xbox live (she hates playing video games) she said i bet they come up with a cable VOD on what you want to watch. This am I showed her the news and she left for work saying cisco dropped the ball on the set top box market.

I think they are doing fine with approx 80% of ALL networks run on their hardware. Not to mention CCNA is still the cert to have.

I dont see this happening, with the recent failure of Google TV, BoxyBox, Roku Box. Its not a technology issue, its a cable company/Networks issue with the networks blocking their online services to these devices. (Even HULU blocked their service on GoogleTV sets) They dont want you to get your content over IP they want you to pay the cable company for unnecessary bundles, with thousands of hours of content you dont even want.

This old model will eventually go by the wayside, and we will be able to buy our content ala-cart.
The cable companys need to just give up and relise that they are now Bandwidth Providers, and sell bits wholesale.

Wow Saviger my wife was sayingthe same thing last night and showed report where comcast is charging netflix for eating their abndwidth with stream movies.

I hope this go a little it time to put all cable providers a little scare. I have like 500 channels but really only watch 20 to 30 of them mostly ESPN, history and military.

I read somewhere that netflix is about 40% of all internet traffic during peak hours (in the US)

That funny back when we lived in Atlanta when they gave a check to everybody for 200 to 600 dollars. The increase in internet traffic on porn site went through the roof. She was in ISP sales back. Once you get you degree email me she still has alot of contacts in the SE for tech jobs at CIsco or their partners.

If you want to watch nfl games for free or any sports games for that matter go to www.atdhe.com and go to live sports tv. That's how I watch GB in Virginia.

I wouldn't be suprised if it's not an option relatively soon-ish. ESPN already does all the college football games over Xbox Live.
