I just found out that my mom has cancer.

I didn't kow where to exactly post this. Here or in the Cabin? Anyways, I just found out my mom has cancer. She had some tests run last week on her and the results came back positive. I don't know the details like where it's at or what type/kind it is. When I get more info, I will pass it along. I do know that she said that she wasn't going to do any type of Chemo or radiation. So the doctors are trying to find an alternative way to fight it. I will keep ya'll posted as soon as I get more info. Semper Fi!

Sorry to hear that man. I don't know if I blame her for not wanting chemo. Modern medicine is pretty amazing now a days. Hopefully everything will work out ok.

Update: I just spoke with her to get more info. It's breast cancer. They (the docs) are going to run more tests (go figure) to get a more accurate examination/results on Tuesday. I won't know anything more until after those tests are run. Thank ya'll for your support. Does anybody have any info on this topic for? I.E., known anybody who has/had breast cancer, results, outcomes, etc. Any and all info would be great! Also, any advice I should do to support/tell her? Thanks again! Semper Fi!

    Hi my love

Really sorry to hear your news but hey ...they can perform miracles these day when it comes to breast cancer!

I Have a few aunts who have had it and they are fine now. If it is caught early enough they can get away with a lumpectomy (remove cancerous area only) and some Radiation. If it has been there a little longer and had chance to travel to the lymph glands then yes Chemo is the next stage unfortunately. I say unfortunately because it is quite a nasty treatment but very effective.

There is so much info on the internet for her to read up on but positive thinking is the first stage in the fight! And family support goes without saying ;-)

I hope it is not too rough for her, keep us posted.

Sorry to hear, I know exactly how you feel, my mother was diagnosed about 5 years ago and did all the stuff the doctors said and is doing fine today.

My wife could probably answer your questions better than me, her sister and best friend also went thru it and she learned a lot as she helped them.

My grandmother had breast cancer. Back then they removed a breast. (before i could remember) They were able to get it all and she lived for many more years after that. Not to mention creeping me out as a kid with the fake one and throwing it at friends during arguements at card games.

Sorry to hear the bad news. My sister-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. They caught it early but she opted to have her one breast removed and since then all her tests have been negative. She is having her reconstructive surgery this summer. My prayers are with you and your family.

    Semper fi!

UPDATE: Well, my mom went to the doctor yesterday to get some more results. The docs told her she does NOT have cancer! BUT, there IS a hard lump about the size of a golfball that could become cancerous. She is going to have surgery after the first of the year to have it removed. And hopefully that will resolve everything. The docs think it will. Semper Fi!

    Update

Well, as I have stated in an earlier post on this topic, my mom has to have surgery. And tomorrow is the day she goes in to have it done. The docs still have high hopes that after removing the lump, she will be good to go. The only concern that they have is her age. She is 75. They hope she takes the surgery well. My brother is coming in from Austin and my sister is coming in from Louisiana to help out. I'm cooking two 5 pound briskets to help out. One is for my sister, she requested for me to cook her one so she can take back home with her. Lol!! And the other is for my mom so she won't have to cook or anything like that for the next few days at least. I will keep you guys posted on the surgery as I get more details. Semper Fi!!!

Lady, brisket is really good meat. LOL!! It's beef and you can smoke cook it on a bbq pit, or just plain bbq it. I like to marinade mine overnight and roast it with a little garlic and onions. Then I throw some Liquid Smoke on it while it's cooking to give it even more flavor. Don't really know how to describe it. It's just REALLY good! A fav around these parts here in Texas!! Semper Fi!!
