So I got the new Vietnam map pack for BC2, for FREE! my stupid VIP code actually gave me access to new free content. hose of you who read my other post ranting about EA and their VIP have to buy the game new or buy a stupid code shennanigans may be wondering about my change of opinion.

Before, all the code did was give you "new" content that was just different game modes on existing maps. Maps that were already on the freakin disk at launch. Taking stuff away from a game to make people buy it new was crap. This is different, fresh new content, on new maps with new weapons and sound and everything is fantastic. That is a great way to go if they want to fight off the used market. I like it.

I am still not entirely sold however. They delayed the price of the DLC until the day the thing came out. I suspect that they decided to give it away because of the back lash they were getting from the gamer community. Some accountant in their offices somewhere should be figuring out that they would have made more money had they sold the DLC instead of selling VIP codes. I am hoping that EA either continues handing out free NEW content or decide the whole VIP code thing is stupid and release their stuff like normal people.

I will meet their olive branch and suspend my boycott for Mass Effect 3 when it comes out (thank God they came to their senses in time!). They are still on thin ice however. If I hear about them doing a Cerebus Network thing that only allows you to buy more stuff from them, well then they are dead to me. Who's with me?

I thought the Vietnam DLC wasn't releasing until Dec 21st and that we all had to pay for that one. VIP Map Pack 7 just released and it is free to all VIP code holders. Has 4 new maps I believe. I downloaded it but haven't actually played on any of the new maps yet.

I am gonna have to agree with her. I thought we all had to pay for the Vietnam DLC?

Everyone will have to pay for the Vietnam map pack. What is free only for people who bought a vip code or got one when you purchased BFBC2 is the vip map pack 7 . I look it up at the EA BFBC2 home page.Vietnam pack will still come out on the 21 of Dec. $ 14.99

I'm also pretty sure that ME3's Cerberus network will do the same thing as ME 2's Cerberus Network. Give you about 1/3 of the total DLC for free.
