I've been flip-flopping around between roms so I havent but much effort into customizing anything. Skyraider Sense 3.5 on Droid Incredible. Waiting for Cyanogenmod 7/Gingerbread to mature a bit more...

I made the wallpaper, its the logo from one of my bowling balls

Also, never tried drocap, I use ShootMe

So Android phones? You all talk seem to have one, but over here I haven't heard of them? Everyone has an Iphone here but they are only on certain networks, and not on my network. I am due a new phone and was going to change networks for the Iphone but I have noticed my network provider do the android phones. Are they better than the Iphone and why?

Maybe I'll go with one of those instead?

Which is best on this link?

    http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/android/

Edit: They do the Iphone 4 now too....maybe I'll just go with that

lol. no. its 39 F (4 C). thats pretty cold here. Theres been ice in the morning. the other day i was walking my dog and i let her walk on this little creek that had frozen and her paw fell through the ice! it was pretty funny.

So...Android phones, where to start. They are probably the best smartphone alternative to iphones (i dont like blackberry). Android os is open source and backed by google. Android is a lot more customizable than iOS and often times the Android phones coming out on the market out-spec iphone hardware (4G/lte, higher res cameras, removable storage, NFC, etc).

The problem I have with Android is the lack of uniformity and support from its manufacturers. The app market place is kind of a cesspool and open to any asshole to release crappy apps. Whereas the apple app store is a bit more controlled and structured. When I say lack of support from manufactures im talking about software updates. Android 2.3 has been released by Google. But there are still phones that are only running 2.0-2.2 because the manufacturer doesn't feel like continuing support for 'old' phones even if they are capable of running 2.3. This leads to rooting and running homebrew roms, but thats another story. Apple is alot better with keeping up with software updates simply because they dont have to build it for a billion different handsets and because they are awesome.

I am kind of a apple fanboy and I will probably get a iphone (5) when it comes to Verizon. I think ios apps are generally higher quality and there are alot more apps that are friendly with the software I already use on my mac desktop.

With that sad lineup of android phones from vodafone i would go with an iphone. Those phones are kind of crappy and dated. dont get me wrong, HTC makes a great device. but there are just so many better phones on the market.

Hope this helps, me me know if you would like to know more

I dont know how you arrived at that vodafone page but look here

    http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/mobi...android-phones

Lists a few more than that other page. The Desire HD seems pretty nice.

Thanks BB ...I don't how how I didn't find that either lol. I only just realised I was due for an upgrade and wanted an Iphone but thought I'd look into the alternatives due to the network not having them before. I am tempted by the 4G now they have started doing it but wow!... it comes at a price! Like you said... it's compatible with my macbook and also I am always using my daughter's Touch so I wouldn't have to anymore.

I read a little on Android and it seems that it's better for social network updates but I'm not interested in those anyway. Email sync is better on Android? That doesn't really concern me either. Apps are interesting and camera is important too.

looks like the Iphone is more suitable to my needs so far

android is better if your primary email is Gmail. One main advantage is it automatically syncs all your google contacts. So you can edit your phone's contact list just by going to contacts.google.com on your computer

Marketplace, yes it does contain allot of crap. Thats a side effect of a much more relaxed and open marketplace, also you will find MOST apps you will have to pay for on the iphone, will be free in the Android Market.

the ability to root and run custom ROM's, also one main side effect of an open system is the ability to completely remove the carriers "Bloat ware" and install a much more efficient and community supported phone.

I hate apple and steve jobs but damn i love my iphone. Wouldnt trade it for snything thats out right now. Just jailbreak the thing and apps are free. I have custom widgets on my lock screen and can make my phone look like a droid if i really wanted 2.
Even if gmail is ure primary email they have a google app. And u can sync ure FB with ure contacts. Plus much more.

Get ureself a iphone4 and love every min. Once u get it, let me know and ill walk u through jailbreakin it.

On this side or the other, we will meet once again.

The last year of my iphone 3G EVERYTHING was running so slow on it. It was refreshing to get the EVO and actually open up apps quickly when I selected them. I like them both but lean more towards the androids. People said the Iphone4 was much faster then the 3G but I didn't want to sit around and wait for speed that's why I switched. Not to mention after jailbreaking it the phone got even slower...

Not to mention all of your emails and texts from a blackberry are 128bit encrypted. Wich is why the President uses one. And why RIM is dominant in the enterprise market, with android based devices closing the gap every quarter.

With everything in retrospect, iPhone is the trendy piece for the teeniebopers, and the apple fanboys. Who prefer being told what they like instead of deciding for themselves.
