I have a sad story to tell. I travel alot for work, and meet alot of great and not so great people. I had the pleasure of working with a service technician from one of our vendors. Ironically, his name was Harry Potter, no kidding. Anyway, he was a great guy and awesome service tech. He was the kinda guy that always went out of his way to make sure things were working, always loved his job, and had a smile no matter what the situation was. He had a great love for everyone he met, and was an all around outstanding guy. As he was nearing retirement, all he could talk about was spending time with his wife and grand kids. When it came to money, he was very wise about it, and had a substantial next egg built up. About 8 months ago, he retired and was enjoying it. Unfortunately, about 5 months after retirement, they found he had a brain tumor, and he just passed away. He got to enjoy about 3 months of retirement. Sometimes life just doesn't make sense to me......

Same thing happened to my grandfather died of a massive heart attack the same year he retired. I've thought the same thing he worked hard all those years and then when he can just do anything he wants bang. It sad.

Yup same with my father in law...retirement...cancer soon after, and then he passed away.

life never makes sense .. i lost my dad at the age of 16( he was 40) and my mom when she was 45....i just pray i get to see them in heaven .....

Very sad to hear that.
Kind of goes into that, "don't put off for tomorrow what you could do today" thing. Stuff like this definitely makes you see how important it is to seize the opportunities now to spend with your family and loved ones. Because you may not have the opportunity later on. At least, that is what I'd take from this story.

Live each day as if it's your last. And don't wait till retirement to enjoy yourself. Because it doesn't matter if you die at 16 or 85, it's still too early.
