37 Pages of Military Discounts and More

This isn't actually "Freebies" as listed in the title of the thread, but it is a comprehensive listing of discounts (and probably a few freebies) from various companies and retailers across the country. Some of the listings may also be regional. I do not guarantee the accuracy of the data provided, so if a company discontinued its programs then that's that. The few links I did click through seemed to be working just fine.

Feel free to share this with buddies and other veterans you may know.

Microsoft Office Home User Program (Army only)

Here's another entry that is not a freebie, but is a deep discount on Microsoft Office. This particular deal is for the Army only, all components (active, guard, reserve). I'm not sure if the other branches have an offer like this, but this program is supposed to be Department of Defense wide. If anyone has legitimate information on this offer in the other branches of the service, PM me with the details and I'll amend my post here to include that information.

The DOD has resumed the Microsoft Office Home User Program (HUP) with Office Professional 2010. Basically, you can download it for $9.95 and also purchase a back up disk for an additional $12.00. Other software can be purchased at a 30% discount. If you choose to just download it, the site recommends saving the program to an external device so that you have a backup of the program. I have been told that they
only allow one purchase per .army.mil address. I do not believe that you can use a non ".mil" e-mail addy.

Below you can find specific instructions and the program code.

The follow-on contract to the Microsoft Volume Licensing Agreement has been awarded and the latest "Program Codes" for the HUP/EPP have been received. All previous "Program Codes" are no longer valid.
    Important Info:

    a. HOME USE PROGRAM (HUP). For purchase of a license for the Office Professional Plus 2010 Suite for use at home:
    (1) Go to http://hup.microsoft.com/
    (2) Select the country you want the order to be shipped to and choose the language for viewing the order Web site.
    (3) Enter your official e-mail address and program code (F08C39B7EA).
    (4) Please note that a fulfillment fee of $9.95 will be charged to cover packaging, shipping and handling costs. If you desire a back-up DVD, you will still have the option to order (at check-out) for an additional fee of $12.00. Orders will be shipped to the location you have chosen.

    b. EMPLOYEE PURCHASE PLAN (EPP). For purchase of a variety of Microsoft´s software and hardware discounted up to 30%:
    (1) Go to https://epp.microsoft.com/
    (2) Enter your location and select continue.
    (3) You will be asked to login with your Microsoft Live ID or to establish one.
    (4) Select Product from "Shop" Catalog or menu to left side of page.
    Disregard Microsoft Office statement.
    (5) Enter your official e-mail address, company name (AIR COMBAT COMMAND) (all in capital letters) and program code (F379FC090B) when requested upon check-out. Orders will be shipped to the location you have chosen.

Bed & Breakfasts for Vets Across the USA

I looked at the list of the places available, and there are a LOT of full B&B's. However, you still might be able to find a vacancy if you look and plan soon.
BED AND BREAKFASTS ACROSS THE UNITED STATES
    TO HONOR U.S. MILITARY

B&Bs and Inns are providing free rooms on Wednesday, November 10, in observance of Veterans Day, November 11, to honor servicemen and women currently serving or who have previously served their country. The program was started in 2009 by the West Virginia B&B Association (formerly called MABB) and this year has expanded to include 48 states, 4 international locations and more than 800 Inns.

Click here to see properties that are participating in the program.

Reservations need to be made directly with the participating Inns and B&Bs. "We just wanted to say thank you to the courageous men and women from our armed forces", says Kathleen Panek, owner of the Gillum House in Shinnston, WV. "These are some trying times for anyone serving or who has served and a good night's rest is our way to say, thank you." A valid Military or VA ID will be required for each reservation. For more information contact Kathleen at 304-592-0177 or via email at gillum@GillumHouse.com

Each B&B is making at least one room available on the night of Wednesday, November 10 (only) to active and retired military personnel. Availability is limited, so Inns may not have a specific room listed for the promotion and once the available rooms are booked, the B&B may not be able to provide another free room.

Innkeepers who would like to participate in the program can sign up here.

Innkeepers who are already participating and who have reserved all the rooms which they have allocated can send us an email here in order to have you Inn marked as FULL.

Free Meal at Applebee's returns for 2011

I just saw an ad on TV from Applebee's which stated that they will once again offer a free meal to veterans and active duty (including guard and reserve) on Veteran's Day.

You simply need to show one of the following: Uniformed Services ID card, Retired ID card, current LES, a veterans organization card, a photo of you in uniform or show up in uniform, a DD 214, or a copy of a citation or commendation.

    Details here: http://www.applebees.com/thankyoumovement

EDIT: I did a quick check and found a link that gives a good, updated list of places that will be offering freebies, discounts, etc. for Veteran's Day and throughout the year.

I don't even know where to find an Applebee's around my area...hahaha. I'm sure there is one, so i'll have to take them up on this offer. I'm sure you have to buy a little extra to get the free meal but I'm all for a free steak...BOOM!

    Applebee's continuing its annual tradition

"Every Veterans Day, Applebee's invites vets and active duty military to come have a meal on us. It's our way of saying thanks for their service. But, really, every day is an opportunity to say thank you. So, join us in our Thank You Movement to personally show your gratitude for those who have served, or are currently serving, in our military."

Thanks to BigFreeze99 for passing this along:

    Military Discounts: http://www.veteransresources.org/military-discounts

    Note from BigFreeze...
There is a link at the top of the screen to input a zip code. I did not try it but it asks to register for discounts... looks like spam. But, the page below that has a huge list of discounts for Vets and Active Duty types.

Indecision may or may not be my problem.
