    Brunch at the BK Lounge

According to a new report, Burger King is trying to class up their recently upgraded breakfast menu by testing so-called "brunch" selections, complete with "mimosas" in a handful of markets. Two problems: BK's brunch menu isn't offered any later than their breakfasts and those mimosas are really just OJ spiked with soda.

The brunch menu that's currently being tested in some markets in Massachusetts, Florida and western Canada includes the BK Ciabatta Breakfast Sandwich -- scrambled egg, cheese, tomato, ham and bacon with a smoky tomato sauce.

And then there's that mimosa that's not a mimosa. Obviously, we're not expecting BK to serve us champagne, but you can't simply throw some Sprite into OJ, charge $1.99 for it and call it a mimosa, can you?

The other issue is the availability of the brunch items. Brunch is something that's traditionally served between the usual breakfast and lunch hours, but in the test markets BK stops serving these items at 10:30, the same time they finish serving breakfast.

I did a project for a marketing class about BK's advertising campaign. They've done some extremely weird stuff, and this just adds to the list. They had this interactive website with a guy in a chicken outfit, and you could tell it what to do. It was so creepy.

As a former chef, no they can't just throw soda and OJ together and call it a mimosa. And their corporate chefs know it. They can't because a mimosa is defined as OJ and champagne (or wine). Its the same as false advertising. There would be an exception if, and only if a mimosa was defined as a mixture of OJ and another beverage. Same concept as mixing gin and OJ, and calling it a screwdriver.

Why the hell wouldn't brunch be served after breakfast? And why is it so hard to make it to BK or McDonalds before 10:30 anyway? I always get there just as they are done serving breakfast.

The downfall of or society is going to be fast food restaurants, not that I don't eat fast food, but when can we honestly expect something good to come from a fast food joint? Mimosa's at BK, that is just absurd. And then on top of that brunch should be between 0900 and 1200.

why can't they serve breakfast items all day? Jack in the Box, Dennys, and IHOP can do it, why not the rest?
