    New gadgets

For those of you that like technology like me. It looks like a giant Iphone. I want one LOL.

    http://www.apple.com/ipad/

That reminds me we need a gadgets section in the topics somewhere.

yea i saw that, and it looks sweet. What's the price on that thing though and does it do wifi, 3g or 4g connection, or what to connect to the internet. Anyone know? What sucks is I don't think it has a way to insert any extra memory unless it does like the apple air where it connects to an external HDD or host computer's HDD through wifi.

They had different prices $499 with 16gb HD was the base model. $599 gets you 32gb HD and $699 get you 64gb. They had an option for 3G but they were extra, $150 or so, for each model.

I want to be able to connect to a external HDD. 64 gb is nothing anymore. That's one of the things I hate about the I-touch and I-phones, they limited the memory so if you want more you have to buy one with a higher internal memory storage.

It's neat and all but i don't like how they try to portray to people that it is better than a laptop when it really is not. Where do you slide a cd or dvd in that bad boy? how about upgrading the memory, HDD, or graphics card? I would get a laptop before an iPad, but like i said, it is pretty neat.

I heard on the news that AT&T customers can use the 3G service they get to power the online portion of the iPad. I am not sure if that still costs more or not.

    Re: New gadgets

@Timmy, I believe he said with Att the 256MB of usage or something like that would run $14.99 and unlimited for $30. All the info is in the video but it is long.

This isn't suppose to replace a laptop guys. It is pretty much a supplemental device like a netbook. My netbook doesn't have a CD/DVD drive either. I just a cool gadget but somethings bother me about it. I usally type with my fingers touching the keyboard. That means I would be pressing every button all the time. I don't like the very small HDD space it has. My netbook has 250gb.

    Re: New gadgets

yeah, i know it's not supposed to replace the laptop, i just don't like how they are portraying that to people. After watching the news segment my grandma was trying to tell me about it, saying it's gonna make laptops obsolete, and if she got that impression from the segment i imagine plenty of others thought that too. Maybe i just have it out for Apple, i don't know lol. I've been very annoyed with them since the first time i walked into an apple store and saw how high and mighty they are when it comes to tech support. you walk in and there are "geniuses" (yes, that is their real job title) all sitting in the back at their counters with nothing to do. Yet when i get approached by a sales person and i explain what i need, they offer to set me up an appointment to talk to a genius. 2 WEEKS LATER!!!! are you kidding? I'm here, they're here, neither of us are doing anything except standing here, why can't we do this now? all i need is to have them confirm that the battery is shot in this laptop so i can get it replaced under warranty. Ridiculous to say the least. I'm glad it was my sister's laptop and not mine.

Oh and that commercial they ran where they were comparing PC to MAC and said that MACs don't get viruses? WTF? my friends started believing that crap too, telling me that was why they wanted to get a mac. They don't have many viruses because no body uses them. a small town in the mountains doesn't have a lot of crime either. why? because there are like 50 people living there total. If more people started using macs then hackers would start making more viruses on those OS's too. Also, try buying games and software for a mac. not too fun is it? i guess macs just as amazing as they pretend they are.

sorry for that off-topic rant, Apple just really bugs me some times. The iPad does look pretty neat though, if i had tons of extra cash to play with i would consider picking one up along with all the other cool gadgets and do dads i would waste my money on
