I'm thinking about getting a computer for gaming only ,and using my my hd tv as the monitor so I would be placing it in the living room .Please help as I am not very informed when it comes to computers. What do I look for and how much will it cost? i would be playing racing sim games and some shooter games as well.Any info will be greatly appreciated .Thank You !

You should really look at this the other way when it comes to making this type of investment.

Let me ask you a better question, how big is your budget? Money is really what will limit your gaming PC. I could build you a gaming PC so bad ass, that you won't know what to do with yourself.. (Well, maybe you do.. :o ), but its gonna cost you a metric dump truck load full of cash..

My budget is about $500.00 I have a local computer store that sells refurbished computers . I was thinking of buying something lots of memory and speed and up grading the inside components. I don't need a monitor or speakers.

Well, realistically, for $500.00, you're out of scope for a gaming PC. You're more in the general desktop PC. Even a refurbished machine is going to be pretty limited just by nature of the components. However, You can get a pretty decent desktop for under $500.00 through DELL.
