    Headset Upgrade

Ok, again I am thinking of upgrading my headset for my PS3. I know that the Sony Bluetooth is widely used and well liked, and I know the some Motorola Earpieces work with the PS3. I am more interested in a Full Headset that is also Bluetooth. I have found a logitech that looks pretty good it is the Logitech Cordless Vantage, except it only has one ear phone which is somewhat problematic since I can't hear very well.

What is everyone's suggestions? I like the idea of going and buying a Turtle Beach but damn they are expensive.

    Re: Headset Upgrade

I am have actually been considering an upgrade as well. I have the official Sony bluetooth headset. But after you and Cajun keep telling me I sound like I am under water all the time. Plus I don't think I have the best hearing after artillery for years. I aways have to ask "huh, what did you say?" I did see that turtle beach but damn that it a little rich for my taste. Especially since it is just a headset. Any suggestions post links or photos please so I know what you talking about.

I use a Nokia model similar to this one.

If you want to shell out a few bucks for something really comfortable with quality sound, this in the one my wife uses. You might find one on clearance or eBay, but they're surprisingly good.

Indecision may or may not be my problem.

That nokia looks very uncomfortable. The other one looks I didn't see a price on there though?

    Re: Headset Upgrade

It's all a matter of preference, but the Nokia is suprisingly comfortable. The part that goes around the back of your ear is ridiculously flexible.

As for the Plantonics, the current iteration runs about $150.

Indecision may or may not be my problem.

    Re: Headset Upgrade

River I like those but the issue is that I need something to cover both ears so I can: 1. Hear everything. 2. Ignore the wife. I just really have a hard time concentrating if I can only hear out of one ear.

Here is the one that i have found, that is a Potential. Although it only has one Earphone.

    Re: Headset Upgrade

I know i talked to some of you before about it but I use the Tritton AX Pro wired headset with a 12.5 foot cable which has true 5.1 surround sound and sounds better, especially watching movies, than most full blown surround sound systems I have ever had except for Bose. Very comfortable and can wear them for hours and not notice. Everyone that plays with me knows that you can always hear me crystal clear. These headsets work with everything PC, DVD, PS3, XBOX 360, Wii, or any TV with a optical out connection but they do cost $170 but i got them for $130 when they first came out. Better than any other headset out there even Astros since they only simulate 5.1 surround and not true 5.1 like the Tritton AX Pro. If you have the money I would get them but if not I used to use a JABRA bluetooth cell headset that worked great and only cost me $10. Tritton also makes a cheaper model one that simulates 5.1 surround for $130 called Tritton AX720, which I hear are pretty damn good also. There is also a cheaper $70 stereo pair but you will never get that awesome dolby surround sound experience with those. They can be bought online at http://www.BestBuy.com. Makes sure if anyone gets one let me know because there's a couple things that need to be set up right for the sound to be optimized to work perfectly, most people that buy them don't know how to set them up and cause them to not get the full experience and making them think they are no good. So basically you need to know a little something about setting up surround sound system delays to get them to work right.

Hey Timmy, that logitech one is one of the ones i use. It works really well and is pretty comfortable. I use it with my cellphone sometimes too. My only complaint was after extended time with it on (a few hours) the bar would get a little uncomfortable above my ear. I also have an official sony one and it seems to be working pretty well.

    Re: Headset Upgrade

Thanks for the Suggestions jack. I really like that Logitech one but I think that I am just gonna get the PS Official one. I get frustrated as hell with all of the shopping and comparing, so I think I am just gonna keep this one simple right now, and then upgrade to a full headset later on.

@ Maximus that was one of my concerns with that Logitech one that bar just looks a little uncomfortable to me.

Taino, the one I have now is wired. When I get my new TV and couches, I am going to need a wireless one. Thanks for the suggestion, but I am gonna go with the single piece unless I see one that is a better Bluetooth when I go to buy it.

The official one is alright but the batteries don't last that long. I usually have to charge mine after every evening of play, or the next day I will run out of battery while gaming. I wanted to maybe get one with a cord and that had two ear pieces.

Yeah, the official one doesn't last long, but it hasn't really affected me. I just charge it on my computer so I don't have to leave the PS3 on. Everyone comes through clearly and I think I do too.

I have a H500 that I used in the past on the ps3, but it will not work now. I was going to fall back on this one after the stepson killed my sony wireless headset. I guess I will have to give in and get a new one before trying to play again.

its probably the admin code that's preventing you from using it. you need to re-pair the system and the headset, the admin code that it will ask you for when you're doing it is default.... but it should be 0000. once you input that code, it should recognize it again and should work fine.

    Re: Headset Upgrade

Ok I broke down and bought a headset for the PS3. I decided to go with the turtle beach on from best buy. I have to say I love it. The whole gaming experience is brought to a whole nother level now. I can hear everything crystal clear. Noises that I didn't even know my tv speakers were putting out I hear now. It actually saved my ass a couple of times because I could hear bullets flying over my head and could react accordingly. The one thing that I didn't like about it was there seems to be a little bit of static noise that is heard when no other noise is present. Maybe there are some setting that change this but haven't found them yet. Plus, I don't disturb the wife when she is getting some sleep. So far I am very happy with them and the new experience.

    Re: Headset Upgrade

I am thinking of upgrading myself. I have found this can that I drilled a 1/4 in. hole in and added a string then plugged it into a USB can then plugged it in to my PS3. It has the most beautiful clarity and wow can I tell you that the surround sound is just amazing. You can get this at your local trashcan for free or you can go to home depot or lowes and get it for a small price of 2.99. Hope this helps you guys out. I highly recommend this set up.

No doubt. I would never pay the price, but I would most gladly accept them for free.

    Re: Headset Upgrade

I run an older Logitec USB wired mic. I like the thing most of the time but it's a stereo 2-ear piece kind and, with me, thats become kind of a problem with MAG. The ear cups are great and I hear my team perfectly but they also muffle the game sound from the A/V speakers. Not really a problem on most games but with MAG and it's "proximity chat" (something I find really cool and unique about MAG), it becomes hard to hear someone yelling to you for help that's not in your squad because that audio comes out as game ambient audio through your speakers. Sure I can turn up the volume on the A/V but I run the risk of having it bleed through the mic at times. Plus it keeps the fiancee' up if I play it at night.
