Here is a new thread to discuss the upcoming XBox One game, Titanfall. This could be as big for us as a clan game as Call of Duty. Especially since it is created by former COD people.

Some info about how Titanfall will use the cloud on Xbox one


Speaking with both Microsoft and Sony to find an inexpensive way to have "potentially hundreds-of-thousands of dedicated servers," Respawn found a solution with Microsoft's Azure servers. "The Xbox group came back to us with a way for us to run all of these Titanfall dedicated servers and that lets us push games with more server CPU and higher bandwidth, which lets us have a bigger world, more physics, lots of AI, and potentially a lot more than that," he wrote.

"With the Xbox Live Cloud, we don't have to worry about estimating how many servers we'll need on launch day. We don't have to find ISPs all over the globe and rent servers from each one. We don't have to maintain the servers or copy new builds to every server," explained Shiring. "That lets us focus on things that make our game more fun. And best yet, Microsoft has datacenters all over the world, so everyone playing our game should have a consistent, low latency connection to their local datacenter."

I'm all ready for Titanfall , but I think I'll get the basic game. The collector's edition is insane and expensive. $250 for this. If you get it good for you but that's too expensive for my liking.

Titanfall beta? "We're definitely thinking about it" says RespawnRespawn cofounder Vince Zampella teases beta for upcoming Xbox and PC multiplayer shooter; new Ogre and Stryder titan classes revealed.
Tonight during the Spike VGA Awards, Respawn Entertainment addressed the possibility of a beta period for its upcoming Xbox and PC multiplayer shooter Titanfall.

In addition, a new teaser phoneline tied to the fictional Hammond Robotics company--accessible at 1-888-88TITAN--specifically mentions an upcoming beta test. (Ed. Note. I have been informed on Twitter that if you call this number from Canada, you will be connected to an adult phone line).


Also during the segment, Zampella confirmed that the Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions of Titanfall will not feature any kind of Kinect integration.


Kinect "didn't fit the game," Zampella said.


What's more, Respawn announced two new titan classes for Titanfall tonight: Ogre and Stryder. The Ogre titan class is more heavily armored and is thus slow, while the Stryder class is described as having greater speed, acceleration, and agility than all other titans.


Once players unlock the Ogre, they will be able to use it whenever they want. So far, two titans are confirmed for Titanfall, though Zampella suggested that more may be announced later.


Addressing the current state of the game, Zampella said Titanfall is "content lock," meaning the game's content and features are finished. Respawn will spend the remaining time until launch on March 11, 2014 balancing and testing the game to ensure a smooth experience for players.

No the code starts a download to your xbox.. single use.... I can say one thing I love choosing my titan as a tank.. then run to the enemy titans. Then just attack till my core goes nuclear then eject it kills the other titans then landing on another titan and shoot it's brains out lol.. epic..

Yeah I've never seen an AI who could put up a good challenge like humans (health and damage output being equal)

I was able to get some tactics vantage with my AI controlled Tian. I would run him into enemy territory. . Hop out jet packed to him as he walk around he killed people and I had a huge shield... to protect me from them then hop in blow him up taking out the people ...

Jared, I went to gamestop last night to pick up the game and it was closed!! No midnight release at all!! I laughed because I was telling you guys the line was going to be long as hell, it was a ghost town up there! Lol. I check my answering machine because my wife said gamestop called earlier and in the message they said the game will be arriving on Tuesday morning!! I guess this gamestop did not get enough pre orders to open at midnight!!

There's a setting in the system setup that you can check that says something like, "Use Kinect for chat."

I have the crackling problem too, but mine appears to be related to the cord. I may have been pulling on the cord to detach the headset and loosened something. If I wiggle the cable where it connects to the puck, the crackling stops.

The system update screwed things up for game chat, from what I'm reading it's with the stereo headset adapter. My brand new Polk headsets were screwed out the gate because of it. I know for mine the issue is being worked, I would think that MS is looking at the entire problem

I really like the feel of this. More focus on fun and less camping then some other first person shooters. By rewarding good play with faster titans but not penalizing death I don't get angry when I die. I'm also a fan of their first attempt at a campaign in multiplayer and can't wait to see how that shaped FPS in the future.

I haven't really either! Which is like whaaa?! The only time I have raged at titanfall is because it was crashing me out and having probs with lobby connections and a few instances of server lag that were endlessly frustrating...but thats rare...live it for the most part

I don't know, the militia half of the storyline made sense in a roundabout way. It just never felt like you were more than a background piece to someone else's adventure. And not even secondary, named characters.....we're straight up redshirts. Beyond that its pretty cookie-cutter.

For a first attempt I like what story it has. Spyder is right, we are the red shirts but that actually makes it more realistic to me. I do wish it kept track of what campaign matches I won though. I'm missing one or two wins for an achievement And I don't know what maps they are lol. I keep going quick play thinking I might stumble on it and I don't leave matches because that might be the match I need.

IMO that would be a mistake. I'm loving this game. If you ever liked a FPS then I recommend giving it a shot.

Titanfall: pretty great game, yeah? Well, with one exception—the shoddy matchmaking system that continually fails to pit players against similarly skilled players. The good news is that thanks to an update, that's gonna start changing.

Here's what the new matchmaking update brings:

1. Searching for teammates and opponents will now sometimes take more time to look for players that are a good skill level match, rather than purely prioritizing speed over quality. This will give us more time to build better teams and create closer games that are worth staying in for a longer period of time.

2. Rather than playing against the same opponents over and over, the game will periodically split the teams apart and search for new opponents for each team. This means if one team is dominating, we will update the skill for all of the players and then find each team a better suited match for the next round. Did you lose to a really great team? We'll make them disappear and replace them with a new opposing team - and they will have no idea that you just got your butts kicked. This should end some of the frustration with playing for extended periods when you're having an off night.

HOORAY.

The changes are immediate, but you have to play in the new "Improved matchmaking (Beta)" playlist, which is under "Play Classic MP." They expect to expand the changes to other playlists after some observations and tweaks.

Here's hoping this means I get put into fewer matches where the entire enemy team has like 5 generations on me. Geeze.

Forget pilot hunter...give me Titan Hunter. I spend so much time rodeoing I should get a belt buckle. I also die a lot but that feeling I get at the end of the match and see how many titans or assists I got is addictive.
