Yeah that's pretty amazing. Apparently the excuse is that they have a system ready to implement, but declined to do so during the heavy traffic of the release for fear of even more bugs. Sounds a little weird to me.

The menus suck... sometimes keeping it simple is best. You can't adjust your loadout until you are in the game or training. The controller layout can be adjusted except for the battlelog button (start button - 360). I am now just getting used to spotting targets with the bumper.
I mentioned in a post, prior to the game's release that I was hoping this would not mirror the COD franchise, and unfortunately it has. I like COD, but BF has just lost its identity by killing the team concept.
As soon as my son returns my Red Dead Redemption, I might spend my time out on the prairie. Or on the PC with my guitar.
I pray for a patch.

I won't argue that BF4 has some issues right off the bat. In my uneducated guess, EA pushed the thing out the door before it was ready. But that's just my personal opinion.

That being said, I'm glad the new CoD is out. The fanboys will take off to play their new game. That means those of us left playing BF4 actually want to play BF4. You could tell by the playing styles of some that they didn't really get the idea of teamwork.

He'll yes it was a blast. I'm still trying to adjust to playing more patiently and not just rushing. It works in COD but not here and it's more fun. Also I love the vehicles, even though I still suck at driving and flying(sorry guys).

There is another bug that has happened since the "server fix 7", now if you stop on a rock or in a crater at the railroad the tank will slowly turn upside down. It's actually pretty funny to watch but boy dose it suck if you are the one in the tank!!

Yep, mine did that too. The tags and weapons aren't even showing in my second/third run through.

I spoke with one of our members and he got credit for all the (campaign) tags without even playing the campaign. EA says... keep em.

Mine did in the middle of one of our matches and by the time I got reloaded the server was full. To rub salt in the wound I was using a 50 xp boost.

I've been having some crashes. Not too bad, every few matches or so, but still annoying. But the annoying thing is Battlelog is missing my last few matches (they were on ranked servers), some of which I did extremely well in!!!!! WTF!!! And just as annoying is the fact I set my recording program to the wrong settings so now I have no video of it. Going to bed now, and I hope Battlelog updates with my matches...

Ya that was some bullshit. There is a lot of things they need to work on, like a tank round dropping after just 300m. That's pretty much why I just crash through everything and cause general mayhem, it's more entertaining. I'll be posting a video at some point with it in there.

Things I noticed the last couple of days, many matches I am does not show me as part of the squad on the battlelog scoreboard, although I got the Ace squad award. I lost my campaign save, AGAIN. I have completed on normal and was halfway through on hard. I have lost count on the resets now. Battlelog does show the completion.

Freeze-induced rage quit for me last night. Froze, rebooted and when I rejoined, froze at the loading screen. Waited a bit, started playing again. I don't think I got a full round in before it froze again, or if I did, I think it was only one....

I went to the Bandicam website, and there are tutorials on how to record. They even have a specific section on Battlefield. Have you tried those yet?

Just a note on MSI Afterburner, it doesn't have 64-bit app support, so you have to change your options in Origin to launch the x86 executable. You'll be running in 32-bit mode. Not sure how much difference that makes as far as actual gameplay though. I'm still trying to figure that out.

Everyone seems to suggest fraps if x86 executable option doesn't work out. I've tried it and it works, I'm just not sure exactly how much (if) the gameplay is negatively affected.

Yeah you have to right click on the BF4 icon in your Origin library and go to Properties or something like that. Then tell it to run the x86 executable. This will limit BF4's RAM usage to 2GB, but mine doesn't peak over ~1.8GB during gameplay, so no big deal here. If you've got all your shit turned all the way up, you might cap it, but I'm not sure. There's no downside to me running the x86 executable at all (unless you need more than the 2GB RAM for the BF4 app itself), and I don't crash since I started doing that (not sure if it's a placebo or what, but it's great not to crash). There is a "4GB patch" you can run to modify your x86 exe to be able to use 4GB of RAM instead of only 2GB, but that changes your executable file and I'm not sure that won't get you banned. So I avoid it, as I don't need it anyway.

I don't think my FPS goes down too much when I'm recording, definitely not noticeably (and all I've got is an OC'd 580). With MSIAB, you can choose the compression method used depending on whether you'd like to tax your GPU more or your CPU, allowing you to prevent adding to a bottleneck (for me, since I've got way more overhead on the CPU side, I chose MJPG). Or you can record uncompressed. With my settings and MJPG compression @100% quality, I'm running ~3GB/min and with the uncompressed setting it seems to be ~6-8GB/min. My storage HDD is only 500GB, so I need to change that. I'll be getting a 3-4TB drive here soon just for video captures. Right now I've got small HDD anxiety so it's preventing me from letting the record button rip too much.

If you absolutely don't want to go with MSIAB, the general response I've seen is that FRAPS would be the next choice.

The second assault maps have some pretty cool effects. Honestly I'm not seeing the freezes most people are. Guess I'm just lucky.

Agreed and it almost seems impossible to not get spawn camped when your an attacker due to the location of the MCOMS. I really want to play some Rush and have fun while doing it.

Just so everyone knows, China Rising DOES NOT work on the 360 at this moment. You can still do the assignments but you CANNOT PLAY THE MAPS. If you try to join a game on a China Rising map you will either lose connection, or get stuck in an infinite loading screen.

I right clicked on it in Origin and selected Check for Updates. It downloaded something that was 880+MB, I assumed that was China Rising but I'm not sure really. Maybe it was just the patch to fix the bugs they were talking about...? If so, >800MB is awfully large for a patch.

It happened again. It said "Vehicle destroyed" and "multi-kill", but it wasn't a missile. I got 6 kills and a vehicle destroyed ribbon as a commander and I don't know how.

you may all know that its best to use the Server Browser to get into games than the quick match because it does not account for your ping to the server. But I noticed the other day that if you open the Battlelog App and on the blue bar that says your online in BF4 and click servers on there it will also show the ms of your ping to the servers so you can cherry pick the lowest ping

The USB drive has been mentioned in some of the fixes I have seen. Still pathetic that in this generation of consoles we can save progress on a game.... I remember my first game, DICE.

Dang dude you need a new one. I only paid about $170 for mine (Radeon 7950) after rebates and everything, so you don't have to spend too terribly much.

Honestly, AMD works great with Intel (I have an i5-4670K). The big thing I would look for in changing are 1) are your games better with nVIDIA? (Battlefield actually is slightly better with AMD, from what I've heard, but it's a fairly small difference) and 2) is the nVIDIA card for your price point a better deal? (and that varies, sometimes the $250 card is a better deal with AMD while the $300 card is a better deal with nVIDIA).

EA DICE plans to roll out its next multiplatform Battlefield 4 (http://www.joystiq.com/game/battlefield-4) update "at the end of January/beginning of February," the developer announced (http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/forum/threadview/2955065219584248915/) today.

The next round of updates will introduce stability improvements across all supported platforms, along with fixes for lingering bugs in Battlefield 4's multiplayer component. Platform-specific patches have been issued frequently (http://www.joystiq.com/2014/01/15/battlefield-4-patch-on-xbox-one-addresses-single-player-save-fil/) since the game's launch in October last year.

nVIDIA is slightly better for Adobe products. But if you're not doing a lot of rendering, I don't think it'll make a whole lot of difference (e.g. Photoshop manipulation you'll probably be fine with AMD).

To thank you for your dedication and support, I'd like to announce the Battlefield 4 Player Appreciation Month. Starting on Saturday, February 1, DICE is saying THANK YOU to all players by hosting a month filled with fun community missions and daily giveaways that you get just for jumping into a match.


We appreciate all of the great feedback you continue to provide about all aspects of Battlefield 4. We take this very seriously, and hearing directly from you has helped to make the experience better. The latest information on our game updates can always be found in the BF4 Control Room, including a few new additions that I'm pleased to say are coming soon. First, we are further improving a number of items commonly referred to as "netcode". This will tighten the overall multiplayer experience, and we will be able to share these items with you in detail soon. In February, we're also re-introducing the fan favorite feature Platoons in its first iteration. In this added social layer, you can team up with your friends to create your own social space and accumulate stats together. We're also working on other feature additions that you've been asking for – stay tuned for more.


Now, let me walk you through some of the initiatives that we will be launching during Player Appreciation Month. We will have more announcements to make in the upcoming weeks, but below are some of the highlights.


A Battlepack a Day Every day that you log into the game in February, you'll receive a Bronze or Silver Battlepack. For those of you who haven't started opening your earned packs yet, these Battlepacks contain bonuses like XP Boosts and soldier camos. Normally, it would take approximately 30 hours gameplay to earn that many packs. Every day that you log a multiplayer game during the month of February, you will receive a new Battlepack. During weekdays, these will be Bronze, and during Saturdays and Sundays we will give away Silver Battlepacks. Remember to activate your earned XP boosts in the in-game menu to accelerate your progress.


Shortcut Bundles We are preparing two shortcut bundles for Battlefield 4 that we will make available for download at no cost during the Player Appreciation Month. These voluntary shortcut bundles will unlock all grenades and handguns for Battlefield 4 (the base game) so you can make up for lost time. Or if you're new to the game, they will help you catch up with players who have been on the Battlefield since launch. We will get back to you with more details once we have set release dates for these items.


For all of our Battlefield 4 Premium users, we're adding two additional weapon shortcuts, unlocking DMR's and shotguns. That way, if you like, you can quickly get your hands on a large portion of the weapons available in Battlefield 4.


Double XP Weekend During the Player Appreciation Month, we'll be running a double XP weekend for all players. If you're one of our many Battlefield 4 Premium members, you'll also get an additional double XP weekend during the Player Appreciation Month as an added bonus.


Community Missions You will be able to participate in global DICE Community Missions where you will work together to unlock Gold Battlepacks. During the first of these Community-wide challenges, we will ask you to grab a set number of dog tags during a specified time. More details on this first Community Mission in Battlefield 4 to follow.


DICE Developer Talks Increased developer interaction and transparency on how we work is frequently requested from our fans. During Player Appreciation Month, we will host a number of interviews with some of the core developers of Battlefield 4. In these interviews, you can ask them about their line of work, the effort they've put into Battlefield 4, or in the case of our core gameplay designer, what the balancing process of Battlefield 4 looks like. We will announce the dates and channels for these developer interviews as the Player Appreciation Month kicks off.
