Ah no, I really mean accidentally! Intentionally, I have killed both of them ALOT! :lol: Trust me, you will know when its intentional. ;)
Once you hit level 60, you have the option to vet to another PMC (Sver/Raven), vet back to Valor, or do nothing. That is what the gold star in front of our names means on the battlefield, that we have vetted. It also shows how many times a person has vetted on the player's card in the upper left corner, when you are out of game. There is no limit to how many times a person can vet, but you do gain an additional 10% xp bonus after you vet the first time. So...to answer your question, when I say revet or re-vet, that means I am going to vet again, but back to Valor.

here it is, the new info, including details on the new beta
If you’re a fan of our massive 256-player first-person shooter, MAG, then today’s news should be of great interest to you.
Truth be told, we have so many tremendous revisions coming to our “ever-changing global war” that it’s almost impossible to tell you about everything we have planned in a single article… but we have to begin somewhere, and we’re starting with PlayStation Move!
That’s right, later this Autumn MAG will offer full compatibility with the PlayStation Move! This added support means that users have another way to experience the most ambitious first-person shooter out there. Pinpoint accuracy and easy access to all of the game’s mechanics ensure that players of any type — be they hardened veterans or new recruits — can enjoy a shooting experience unlike any other.
But PlayStation Move support isn’t all we’re working on. Because our upcoming content is so important to the game and its future, we want your assistance to make sure we get it right! With that notion in mind we’re pleased to announce that, one week from today on August 24, we’re inviting existing MAG owners to take part in the all-new MAG Beta program!
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4075/4901519345_3c2b0565c1.jpg
Raven, SVER and Valor chill on Silverback Ridge.
What are you going to play and test, you ask? How about the oft-demanded “Clan Deploy” feature that allows clan leaders to choose any game type and queue up to 128 clan members for matches as a team? Sure, that’s a great start but we’re also bringing in a brand-new Skill tree system that improves how our character customization system works — complete with new skills and new abilities. What’s more is that we’re introducing an in-game economy system that allows users to earn “Credit Points” by completing objectives, finishing missions, and killing enemies. They can then spend those points to purchase new weapons and gear.
MAG Beta testers will also have the opportunity to try out our upcoming DLC game-type, “Escalation,” well before it becomes available. The most frenetic MAG game mode yet, Escalation offers three brand-new faction-neutral maps with never-before-seen environments that pit a total of 96 players from all three PMCs against each other simultaneously. For the first time ever, Raven, Valor and SVER will be on a single map going after the same objectives at the same time. It’s complete insanity and a whole lot of fun, and we can’t wait for you to try it out. As an added bonus, we’re including nine all-new weapons that add even more firepower to your already-sweet arsenal as well.
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4095/4902104864_689449ebc1.jpg
Radiant Barrens is hot!
That’s not all, of course, as we have plenty of other surprises in store for the new MAG Beta program that we haven’t mentioned yet — like the beta’s ability to support multiple character slots so that players can check out each PMC — but some things are best left for you to discover on your own.
To participate in the new MAG beta, all you have to do is download the client software from the PlayStation Store when it becomes available next week, insert your MAG disc into the PlayStation 3, sign-in to the beta client and… BOOM! You’re good to go. Reminder: You must have the MAG disc in your PS3 in order for the new beta client to work.
Amazingly, today’s announcement only scratches the surface of what’s planned for MAG’s future. That’s why we’re updating the Official MAG Blog constantly over the next few weeks with new and more detailed information of what you can look forward to. We’re even holding a special edition of our popular Zipline Podcast this Friday that will answer your questions about our future plans with special guest, Zipper Game Director Seth Luisi
As always, the entire team at Zipper Interactive would like to thank you, our fans, for your feedback, loyalty and enthusiasm. Your continued support is what makes MAG what it is today, and it’s what inspires us to to make it better.

tons of new stuff packed into that post. A really big one being multiple character slots, as that will completely change the way people go about earning trophies and picking skill sets. "Hang on guys, let me switch to my sniper character really quick"

I am thinking of putting my re-vet on hold until the beta is over. It appears we are going to have to create new characters for the beta and level up from there. I am anxious to see what the beta is going to bring us.
Also, Wilecoyote got in MAG last night for the first time! I got him a clan invite, but didn't have time to get in any games with him. It looks like MAG is coming back! :D

The beta is for additions to the game you just bought. Which brings a good question. Have game developers done a beta for game additions as Zipper is doing? I am sure the DLC that we will be testing during the beta will be a fee just as interdiction was, but the rest of it will probably be integrated into the current game at no charge.

yep, they always test but they don't always do a public beta. Media Molecule is really good about testing, I've been in their beta test group since June 2009 and we've tested every patch they have made to date for Little Big Planet, including the water and online create features. We finished up testing on the LBP.me website (pretty cool btw, if you like LBP, you'll like the site) and next up is the LBP 2 beta.
I only wish other devs would put the amount of time into beta testing that Zipper and MM do

funny thing about that update DBG, after doing the 30-something Mb installer download and went to the infamous 3 amigos receiving updates screen it shows you have around 550Mb. It went for a few minutes until i had about 7% and then i quit the game so i could change my status so people would know i was downloading the updates since it was going to be a while. When i loaded it back up it jumped straight to 490Mb downloaded, about 90% complete. I have no idea how that happened, it's like i got a super speed spike and downloaded 450Mb/s for just a quick second.

here's more details on the upcoming triple faction mode we will begin testing soon
If you caught our previous blog update (http://blog.mag.com/blog/2010/08/mag-moves-plus-our-new-beta-program/), you already know that the upcoming “Escalation” game mode will be available for play in our new MAG Beta program starting August 24. What you don’t know, however, is what Escalation is and how it works, which is exactly what we’re about to show you.
Simply put, Escalation is a simultaneous three-faction battle for resources that supports up to 96 players, or one 32-man platoon for each PMC. The ultimate goal for each Escalation map is to earn the maximum number of points before time runs out or, if time does expire, to have the most points overall. Whichever team meets this goal wins the map and some additional Shadow War points for the cause.
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4115/4904572075_bbf4feba09.jpg
Isla de Magma
Points are gained as Raven, SVER and Valor vie for control of wind, thermal and solar energy objectives — but it’s not as easy as just “running to all your objectives” and holding them until the end. Instead, Escalation is made up of two phases:
For the initial phase, all three teams fight it out to hold the map’s A, B and C objectives — but when any of the three teams gains control of two of these objectives, the second phase kicks off. In this second phase, the original three objectives are locked and a brand-new fourth objective (D) is opened up. The mission now challenges the PMC that took the two objectives originally to defend D against both attacking groups as long as possible; if the D objective is lost, then play reverts back to phase 1 again and the war continues on until we have a winner.
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4079/4904572025_10ae1b7245.jpg
Radiant Barrens
In practice, Escalation is a ton of fun and has been the subject of countless post-game “wow” conversations internally here at Zipper. Of course, one of the main reasons our reactions have been so strong — outside the obvious madness that comes with all three factions battling it out at once — are the maps that go along with it. All three Escalation environments are all unlike any that have been seen in MAG before. Whether it’s the sunny beaches of “Isla de Magma,” the mountains of “Silverback Ridge,” or the desert wasteland of “Radiant Barrens,” the locales are as fascinating as they are colossal. Besides, any MAG game mode that lets you fight out in the heart of a sweltering volcano gets automatic fun points — it’s just a fact of life.
To check out Escalation for yourself, be sure to download the new MAG Beta client from the PlayStation Store for free starting August 24. Keep in mind that you will have to have the retail version of MAG in order for the client to work and that the time and access to the beta may be limited, so you won’t want to miss it.

Apparently you are not the only one with issues. There is a long list of people on the MAG forums having similar issues. Here is a one post of considerable mention:
I Talked to MizzSmartyPants And She Told Me There Were Several Types Of Problems With The 1.07 Patch.
This Is Our Conversation. I Hope This Will Shed Some Light On The Issue At Hand So Some Of You can Relax.
-------------------------------What I wrote:---------------------------------
I was told to contact you about this patch installation failure.
I have done everything I have read about in the MAG and SONY Network Forums but nothing works.
This is what I have done so far:
* Delete save game files.
* Delete game data.
* Restored PS3 to default Settings.
* Reformatted PS3.
* Switched from Wi-Fi to Cable and back again.
* Erased all other accounts but my main.
* Created new user account and tried downloading patch that way.
But it always stalls on the installation at 39%.
This same thing happened when I bought Interdiction And tried installing it, which I couldn't play for 1-2 weeks.
Do you have any suggestions cause I am all out of ideas.
------------------------MizzSmartyPants Wrote-----------------------------------
We are trying to figure out the issues with the installs. So far it seems as though we have about 3 different causes for the install hang. 2 of them we've figured out workarounds for and unfortunately, you seem to be in the 3rd category that we haven't gotten figured out yet. The engineers that developed our patching code are working on it and myself and Jeremy are acting as the player advocates to try to make sure any and all information you guys provide is passed on to them.
I will pass on your information to them. I may end up having some questions for you or ask for you to try things, although it sure does look like you've tried everything you can at this point.

No I haven't played in a while...it went a bit stale and UMG stopped playing it for ages.
I hate playing online random...nobody appreciates it if you're a bit rubbish lol.
New stuff now though and I'm noticing ppl are going back to it ...so I will have to get practicing ;)
Red Dead is good fun right now with the new co-ops so I'm playing that at the moment.

Really though, we have had 4 or 5 a night for some time now and a full squad last night! It is getting pretty active again. The new game mode looks like it should be good. Interdiction was a major let down, but hopefully this will redeem zipper.

For all those wanting to play the beta next week, there are limited times to play.
You might see me on Thur/Fri. I have to be out of town for work this week! :evil:
Due to the huge number of requests for what the beta times are, I'm posting them below.
Note these are subject to change and start August 24 (if the PS Store updates in time, it's possible the first session would be skipped if the PS Store updates in the afternoon); Also, the beta runs Monday-Friday.
Session 1
* Hawaii: 5am-9am
* Alaska: 7am-11am
* Pacific: 8am-12pm
* Mountain: 9am-1pm
* Central: 10am-2pm
* Eastern: 11am-3pm
* GMT: 3pm-7pm
Session 2
* Hawaii: 1pm-5pm
* Alaska: 3pm-7pm
* Pacific: 4pm-8pm
* Mountain: 5pm-9pm
* Central: 6pm-10pm
* Eastern: 7pm-11pm
* GMT: 11pm-3am
I'm glad I choose to hold on to this game instead of trading it in. I almost did. I'll be grabbing the beta when it becomes avail. :D

For a monthly rental fee, you can have extra character slots come 8-31.
Expand Your MAG Army on August 31
posted by Jeremy Dunham, August 25, 2010 10:00 am
We’re happy to report that our MAG Beta is quite a success in its early days of existence and we’re even happier to announce that we’re already bringing one of its most useful features to the retail game.
Starting next week on August 31, we’re giving players the option to create and maintain multiple characters in the MAG universe! Though players are limited to one character at a time in our current setup, our new multi-character option gives you up to two additional slots to house your alter egos. This means that, for the first time ever, you’ll have the ability to float characters on Raven, SVER and Valor at the same time and never have to worry about leaving one team to try another. Of course, you can always choose to use all three slots for characters from the same PMC if you want, but that’s entirely up to you!
So how do you get these extra slots to work? It’s easy – From August 31 forward, two additional slots will appear on the character log-in screen with links to the PlayStation Store. For $0.99 (US) per additional slot, you can click the space of your choice and unlock the extra character. Your new subscription will last for 30 days from the day you purchased it, giving you a full month to try out your extra warrior. And don’t worry if you don’t renew one month, and decide to come back later – even if you don’t use your additional characters from month to month, he is never actually deleted – just asleep until you come back to claim him again in a future subscription.
Note: Though the two additional character slots will appear in North America on August 31, the characters themselves may not be immediately available for purchase until later in the day following the normal PlayStation Store update.
We hope you enjoy the added freedom that our extra character slots potentially provide and look forward to fighting with and against you once again!

That is some crap that escalation is only open 2 hrs out of the session! :evil:
I have played the beta today in dom, and it is ok. I don't think I like the skill tree, but I am not used to it yet either.
I just seems very redundant, as in 3 options for extended health, swap speed has 3 or 4.
Ironhide400

I finally got into escalation last night with the rest of the UMG guys. We had a good time, but the running gets tiring after awhile (pun intended). That is all you do in this game mode. I could see where it would be beneficial to split into zone teams. This way you always have someone around 2 of the substations to capture and unlock D. This would cut down on some of the running, but not much. I do like the maps I have seen so far. Unfortunately, I could see where I would get bored with this game mode after awhile. :(
Hopefully they color code the letters in the final release so you know who is capturing, or has captured what! :?

I vetted back to Valor last night. With the Happy Hour and directives, I was able to get back to level 11 last night, so I got my full rez back. Defending isn't too bad, but attacking is pretty hard with no skills unlocked. I forgot how much recoil the m4 has without the grip or skills. So if you all get in game with me, expect me to be needing much more rezzing then normal. :(

Has anyone tried "deactivating" the DLC as so not to get sent to interdiction in directives? I am trying to level up and directives keeps putting me in interdiction. Without interdiction activated, directives won't put you in there, or your group if you are leader. I seen on the MAG forums where you can temporarely deactivate ps3 store dlc's.
Account Management>>>System Activation>>>>PS3>>>>Game>>>Deactivate
Will this work? Squid, Mardi, and I sure could use some extra XP! :mrgreen:
*EDIT* This does appear to work. I fired up my PS3 this morning to test it. You will lose your heavy armor plated since it came with the DLC, but you keep the free add ons. I am going with this until I get back to level 60! :D

MAG 2.0 Coming Soon
posted by Jeremy Dunham, September 16, 2010 10:00 am
Everyone here at Zipper Interactive is extremely proud to announce that our next downloadable MAG update, MAG 2.0, is not only our biggest and most important patch yet, but also one that’s less than a month away!
That’s right! All the feedback and suggestions you’ve made from countless hours spent playing our new MAG Beta program will pay off in the retail version of MAG in a very big way. We’re calling it “MAG 2.0? for a reason and it’s because of the sheer number of fantastic new additions, including:
* PlayStation Move support
* An increased level cap that goes to level 70
* A revamped Skill Tree that allows for the deepest character customization and specialization ever found in a first-person shooter
* A brand-new in-game economy that lets you earn credits to spend on weapons and items from the also-new “Supply Depot”
* Our useful “Clan Deploy” feature that enables clan leaders and officers to queue up to 128 of their fellow clan members into a single game
* A “MAG News” page that brings players up to date on all the latest happenings the moment they log in
* A multitude of updates that refine existing weapons, maps, and vehicles
* Important bug fixes and other enhancements that streamline the overall experience
We’ll have specifics as to what else is in the MAG 2.0 patch as we near its release. Oh, and before we go, don’t forget to keep an eye out for additional news in the near future regarding our next DLC pack, which includes our upcoming Escalation game-type and nine all-new weapons.
We hope that you’re just as excited to get your hands on MAG 2.0 as we are to give it to you, and we’ll see you again real soon!

IT'S HERE WITH CLAN DEPLOY!!
The big day is here!
There is so much new content in MAG 2.0 that telling you how important or huge this is for the game, its fans, and for us seems unnecessary. Take one look at the changes listed below and you’ll understand why we’re calling this MAG 2.0.
PlayStation Move support, an increased level cap, our revamped skill tree, the new economy system, and our highly-demanded clan deploy feature are just the tip of the iceberg. There are so many fantastic new or improved items in MAG 2.0 it’s almost like a whole new game!
A big thanks to all of you who have helped us get to this point with your support, your suggestions, and your mad beta testing skills. We hope you have as much fun playing MAG 2.0 as we did making it.
Patch v2.0
Available September 30, 2010 | 35MB (TPPS), 521MB (DLS)
Gameplay (General)
* Character level cap has been increased from level 60 to level 70
* Added new “Supply Depot” menu and in-game economy system (see “Gameplay – Economy” section for details)
* Implemented new “Clan Deploy” feature that allows Clan Leaders and Officers to deploy into group queues of up to 128 players
* Characters moving from MAG v1.XX to MAG 2.0 will receive an immediate and automatic Respec the first time they log in
* Repair Kits can now inflict damage on enemy soldiers, vehicles and objectives
* XP rate for “Repair” has been increased from 1.5XP/ 10pts to 3XP/ 10pts
* Players can now track all “sprinting” enemies on the mini-map without the need for equipment
* All “Damage Bar” rates for “Domination” maps have reverted back to their original (and identical) values

Don't worry, I will be starting my "come back" tour soon! I have been dealing with a crap load of family issues, but I will be back soon enough. I jumped in a couple games after 2.0 dropped, and was redlined 3 sabo games in a row.. :(. I am going to have to stop tk'ing you so you can carry me a couple games! :roll:

I have been seeing alot of complaining on the MAG forums about 2.0 causing a crap load of freezing issues. Are all of you guys seeing this also? There is supposed to be a patch coming to address this. I haven't had any game time lately so I have no clue if it happening to me. Hopefully you all will see me on soon.

I've had a TON of freezing issues! What sucks the most is it always seems to happen when I'm having a great game of Dom and racking up a ton of point. :evil: I am really busy with work right now so I may not be on that much for the next few weeks.

Couple of questions about MAG!
If I buy the Greatest Hits edition, what kind of money will I have to spend in DLC to get up to date?
And with all of the new shooters coming out, how much life do you expect the game to have remaining?
I just don't want to buy it and then have everybody stop playing it and feel like I lost the money!

Interdiction is the only download I know of. Wouldn't bother with it if I were you. I'll probably be on it a lot less after I pick up MOH. Don't know about the rest of the guys. I'm under the impression that Tracker doesn't play anything else. I think he has like 3000 hours on it.
All in all though it's worth the reduced price, I'll probably be on after the beta becomes the game again.

As of now, interdiction is the only DLC you have to pay for. It is $10.00. There are still a number of us that play MAG regularly, usually in the evenings. You can have 8 in a squad, so that makes it much more enjoyable when playing with clan mates. Even without clan mates, the game is very strategic so talking with randoms is almost a must. Over the months, we all have played with other good clans and randoms that can be very fun also. I would say it is worth the money. I would wait on the DLC to see how you like the game. There is supposed to be a new DLC coming soon with a new game mode (Escalation) that we tested in the recent beta.
I don't see MAG dying anytime soon. Of course, MOH and Black Ops will slow it down some, but it is a game like no other. I would say it is one of the best team oriented games out there, and we have a blast when we play!

I was getting so pissed and fed up with not being able to play a games due to these issues that I have stopped playing MAG till these are fixed. It is getting so ridiculous with the imbalance towards SVER the game is almost getting unplayable. My current win percentage for the past week is about 10%. Almost every battle is against SVER because most of the experienced players have figured out that if they don't want to be steamrolled they'd better play on EZ-Mode.
I hated playing on SVER. I really don't want to vet to them. But this is ridiculous.
Ironhide400
11-18-2010, 08:34
Don't worry, here pretty soon there will be no one for SVER to fight against. I do agree with your post. My win % went to crap also. Even with squads that are half way decent, you still can't do crap on Ashberon. That map is a joke, and I won't even mention their aqui map!
tracker_usmc
11-18-2010, 15:53
I read on the MAG forum that a lot of people are getting tired of this even the guys in SVER. There saying it's making the game not challenging and boring so they are trying to get people to vet over to Valor so it would be more balanced.
BlackarrowPSN
11-18-2010, 16:40
Here's how that Valor vetting will turn out:
If Valor keeps losing: "You Valor guys just suck too much for us to help."
If Valor starts winning: "You're only winning because SVER players are being charitable and carrying you."
Zipper's already made clear in their last podcast that they're done with balance issues. They think the game is fine in that department.
Ironhide400
11-22-2010, 20:58
I listened to the podcast, and that was a joke about Sver! There maps are OP, but zipper is saying nope. Then, there are zipper employees saying they would like to tweak the maps more? They are so confused. All I know is that attacking Sver maps is pointless because even with a good squad, the rest of the platoon backs out. Now it is taking for ever to get in a game. I am glad GT5 is on the way.....

MAG action has slowed down, but a patch is coming!
It is now officially the last month of 2010 and though we’ll soon be saying our goodbyes to the year that was, we’re not quite done yet. In fact, we wanted to let everyone know that our next MAG patch, version 2.10 will be available for download starting next week!
Like any update, our next revision will include gameplay and technical amendments along with new game-queue functionality that MAG fans should definitely appreciate.
We’ll have the full details of what you can expect in MAG v2.10 next week prior to the release of the download. See you then!
BlackarrowPSN
12-04-2010, 18:07
If they don't fix the SVER imbalances, the game is doomed anyway. From all appearances, they have no intention of doing so. I just finished my twelfth or perhaps fifteenth Valor loss in a row, all to SVER (since that's all we get to fight anymore due to the player numbers). I was attacking Aralkum today, listening to the blue dots scream "WTF" about the map. It occurred to me that I haven't participated in a winning game against that map in months. Maybe six months or more. I only remember winning a couple, back in the early days of MAG. While vetting through SVER, I don't think I lost on that map a single time defending it.
Ironhide400
12-06-2010, 12:20
I agree with the Sver maps.
The patch drops tomorrow, so it looks like it is back to MAG for me. BO is getting stale for my anyways. I am over the crappy grouping system, not to mention the PS3 freezes I have been getting lately! :mad:

I know there aren't many of us that still play MAG, but there is a patch being released on 2-23-11! The one huge thing it does is all maps go neutral! I am gonna have to check this out to play Ashburn! ;)
Patch Alert: MAG v2.11
posted by Jeremy Dunham (http://blog.mag.com/blog/author/jeremy-dunham/), February 22, 2011 10:51 am
It’s been a few of months since our last MAG update, but it has certainly been time well spent! Since our previous patch released in December, we’ve made a number of helpful improvements that you can enjoy for yourselves starting February 23.
The most obvious change in MAG v2.11, and arguably the biggest, is a reaction to the overwhelmingly positive response by our community to the promotion we ran during MAG’s birthday week (http://blog.mag.com/blog/2011/01/happy-birthday-mag-let%E2%80%99s-celebrate/). In case you missed it, we made our Domination and Acquisition modes “faction neutral” so that players could defend and attack all maps related to those game-types regardless of their PMC affiliation. Our fans enjoyed it so much that we decided to make the modification permanent and so we have!
Naturally, there’s more to our patch then just faction-neutrality. We’ve also given our in-game economy a boost with smarter incentives and a better relationship with our XP system. Add to that a number of Escalation, performance and interface enhancements and you’ve got quite the pleasant update.
For our complete list of changes in MAG v2.11, check out the notes highlighted below. As always, the patch will be available tomorrow morning during our regularly-scheduled maintenance period, which begins at 1am Pacific Time. Log into MAG directly for additional information, including maintenance times specific to your region. And now, the specifics:
Patch v2.11
February 23, 2011 | 40MB (TPPS), 39MB (DLS)
Gameplay (General)
Permanently added faction-neutrality to “Domination” and “Acquisition” game modes
Improved ratio of launched game-types when using Multiqueue
Fixed “Escalation” game-type exploit that allowed unintended amounts of additional game points to be earned under certain conditions
The original three training missions unique to Raven, SVER and Valor have been reinstated (Blu-ray version only)
Lessened the likelihood of players moving their aim while performing the “knifing” action with the PlayStation Move Motion Controller
Gameplay (Economy)
Earned CP now takes “Bonus” XP into account as part of its equation
Adjusted CP/ XP conversation rate so that lower-level players have the highest yield of CP-earned to XP-gained, with a lessening effect as they gain levels
CP is now refunded when a player has gear they are no longer entitled to removed from their loadout
Weapons
Repaired “stuck grenade” bug that would sometimes prevent players from throwing grenades
Slightly increased grenade-throwing speed following weapon-switch (all grenade types)
Interface
Repaired icon display issue in “Escalation” game-type that would occasionally misrepresent which team was interacting with an objective
Post-game Squad scoreboard no longer includes bonus XP in its display or rankings
All three factions are now properly displayed for the “Escalation” game-type when using the Multiqueue
Audio/ Visual
Grenade-throwing animations are now properly blended and no longer skip
Various camera clipping issues have been addressed
Miscellaneous
Subscription character slots B and C are now fully compatible with the downloadable version of MAG
Eliminated glitch that prevented players from earning the “Duteous Maximus” trophy after the 2.10 update
Fixed bug that prevented some players from being vote-kicked out of games
Faction-specific videos have been restored (Blu-ray version only)
Numerous crash fixes and performance improvements
Multiple localization updates

Unfortunately, I traded in my copy months ago. I had to think long and hard before I gave up that one and Killzone 2 (That's right, I said "2", not "3").

So how's this for reviving an old thread?
Anyhoo, I wanted to put this one out there (courtesy of Ssanders via Google+) for all of our original members, as well as our not-so-original-but-faithful members. This is indeed a sad farewell. MAG was "THE" game that originally bought together the USMG you know today.
One of these days, I'm going to write the history of USMG (perhaps I can be the staff historian?), and MAG will have a very prominent place in our lineage. Ironically, the article indicates that MAG will be nearly 4 years old when the servers are shut down. USMG is approaching it's fourth birthday/anniversary/whatever-you-want-to-call-it in the first week of August.

MAG, SOCOM PS3 servers signing off for good
by Sinan Kubba Writer RSS on Jul 17th 2013 9:30AM
Servers for MAG, SOCOM 4, and SOCOM: Confrontation are shutting down on January 28, 2014, Sony has announced. As it stands, the server shutdowns will essentially make MAG and Confrontation obsolete, due to their reliance on online play.
The news follows the closure of MAG and SOCOM studio Zipper Interactive last year. When asked then about future SOCOM entries, Sony Worldwide Studios chief Shuhei Yoshida said his company never retires a franchise. Nonetheless, today's news will sound like a death knell for fans of the long-running shooter series, and certainly as one for MAG, which will go offline two days short of its fourth birthday.

Loaded it up earlier and played 2 sabo games and a dom game. I was shocked.....everyone on my squad had mics, and they were reviving more than killing! I went 20-4 in my first game, and that was with me running around with my windex most of the time because the buttons are so different from BF3! I felt like such a noob! :happy:

I went to one of the local GameStops, but they didn't have it. There's another one and an EB Games at the local mall. I'll go check them tomorrow night.
I noticed that I don't have any game saves on my HDD or in my PS Plus cloud. That shouldn't affect my rank or skill tree though, right? Isn't all of that stored on the game servers?

I am not sure about this. I am pretty much figuring that I am going to start at level 0 and have to work my way up. It would be nice if it is all stored on the server end.

Yes. In January. But many of us who have been here since the very early days started off in USMG playing that game. We're getting back to playing it before then as kind of a sendoff for that game.

It'd be awesome if we could get some game footage recorded for posterity's sake.
Re-downloaded this to my HDD, and played a few Suppression matches the other day. It may be just my perception, but the players still playing this are GOD-LIKE. I maybe raked in 15 kills in 5 matches! I felt like the enemy were everywhere, I couldn't run, I couldn't camp, I couldn't do ANYTHING! The snipers had every angle sighted in, it was seriously frustrating. But it took me back and I loved it!
