A few of us have talked about starting a list like this in our forums, identifying players who have intentionally teamkilled our clan members, and otherwise been complete asshats.
Basically, if you run into one of those, reply in this thread with the jerk's account name, and a quick description of what he or she did exactly.
Happy hunting.
EDIT: As the thread is getting long, I will list the names here in this message so that they may be easily referred to. Clan names will be included in brackets as appropriate.
THE LIST
[OUT]MiniMog7 (generally a douche, has gone out of his way to annoy our clan)
[XBL]RoAmMaOr (glitcher, known cheater)
[CbS]JayMan4 (note that the entire clan does a lot of TeamKilling for fun)
[CbS]KaiserZero777 (note that the entire clan does a lot of TeamKilling for fun)
[THC] -- The entire clan has a bad reputation as cheaters and TKers.
[FOX]ezekiel9tyni (glitcher/cheater)
[PTO]evilgothicstick (glitcher/cheater)
[GoW]Conctrete (has some numbers in the name too -- TKs for the plant, also generally TKs)
guysunoco (retarded TKing douche who needs to be TKed, teabagged, and kicked)
hiocythe (Valor alt account of a raven douche, there only to TK you)
supermax (Valor alt account of a raven douche, there only to TK you)
grizzmis or grizzmiss (TKer)
Roadblock666 (too stupid to live, the King of Douches)
AlaskaAssassin (TK douche and buttbuddy of Cybercyde)
Cybercyde (massive TK douche, spent an entire game TKing -- must have rejoined a friend in the game to keep doing it)
wolfkev (TKer)
saint_clark (TKer)
unseenfeard45 (a SNIPER who TKs on BC2)

MiniMog7 of the OUT clan is a complete asshat, trying to give Timmy crap for not having a high enough KDR in a sabo match, telling me i need to kick him from the clan because he was dead weight, and finally, stating that USMG are obviously not team players. Nominee for King Doucher right here
I lul'd at that Maximus. Reminds me of my SOCOM Confrontation days. Don't really play that too much anymore because of those sorts of ass hats.

If you play with RECOGNIZED clans from the official forums then let me know or leave a scathing remark about that player on their thread. Some clans do police themselves. Be aware that there are MANY clans out there are fly by nighters who managed to scrape together a few guys. We're small but well respected in the pantheon of Valor clans on the MAG forums. Just need to bump our thread when I get off work.

I'd rather not piss off everyone lol though I'd like to say I've noticed a glitch where if I go to knife someone when I come back I finish the swing. it doesn't happened every time, but enough that I was wondering if anyone else had this issue.. I've hit 2 or 3 people doing that.. felt really bad about it :/

I have respawned and my weapon was firing by itself once. I really pissed some guys off but, I had no control of the situation. Another played said that he has had the same thing happen to him. So, watch for that glitch also.
sounds like a BIG problem, seems like it would be near the top of a "Bug" list at Zipper.

the MAG site has been having issues with login lately. they say they are working on it but until it is sorted out, it acts as if you are logged in but you actually are not logged into the forum section, nor will it allow you to. It works sometimes but it's been pretty rare for me.

Yeah I keep going on there to try message people on the swap preorder code thread. It wont let me since it technically says I am not signed in. I have very rarely been able to log in a well. Kinda sucks not being able to post you can just read everything from earlier. :)

i like sabotage when i'm in the mood to take it easy for a bit, it's really straight forward and not all the chaos of domination, plus with having two contracts (hopefully 3 now :) ) we get an additional 10% xp per match. Squadleaders are not even needed as the frago is set automatically and unless you are planning a special strategy, there is no need to change it.
For a full run down of the squad leader abilities, they vary by attacking or defending and yes, only Acquisition and Domination:
attacking
*****ALWAYS MAKE SURE THE ENEMY AAA IS DOWN BEFORE USING ATTACKING ABILITIES****
Cluster Bomb - bomber flies over and hits a small AoE with a cluster bomb. effective against personnel and medium damage on vehicles
UAV - as the name implies, sends a UAV to fly over the selected area to reveal enemy positions on your platoon's mini map
defending
***defensive abilities are dependant of the mortar battery so make sure you repair it if it goes down or you can't use these abilities***
Mortar Barrage - similar to the cluster bomb, sends in mortar fire to the selected area. small AoE, effective against personnel and medium damage on vehicles
Guided Artillery Strike - requires both the mortar batteries and the sensor array for max effect (i think it still fires with the sensor array down but not as accurately, not 100% sure though) It is one powerful strike that can destroy any hard target, i.e. enemy vehicle or stolen transport vehicle. Effective against all targets but is intended for larger targets and you will need to lead a moving target
and there you have it. if you guys want me to give a breakdown of Platoon leader and OIC i can do that as well

A little off-topic but still relevant for the MAG thread I think. I've heard this discussed during some of our MAG games and I'm sure the board operators are thinking about it but just in case, I wanted to bring it up.
What's the thought on creating a sub-board specifically for MAG. This thread is getting long and it would be nice to have some MAG specific threads directed, for say, MAG tactics, New Recruit Tips, Load Out and Skill tips, etc.
Okay, just wanted to throw it out there. It may have been mentioned before on this thread but there's 520 posts so far and I apologize if I missed it.

The grenades have changed a bit throughout the betas. I'm not sure which phase the video was made but in the beginning you had 3 grenades, and they were stackable, meaning you could choose grenades for all three of your gear slots so each person could carry 9 grenades. Talk about grenade spamming lol. They took away the ability to stack and we were left with 3. I don't recall at which point it was then reduced to 2 grenades
Another thing about that video i wanted to point out. See the squad leader in River's squad? what name is that? and what is River's name over at the WV hot dog blog? Coincidence? i think something fishy was going on there....a scheme for fame perhaps?

Additionally, at the suggestion of Maximus, I have started a "MAG War Room" topic. Please see the initial post to get an idea of what this topic will and will not cover.

oh..... :( damn
lol thanks River. How would you feel about creating even a third thread that could be titled MAG Strategy or even (and more cool sounding) "The MAG War Room" and that can contain the tips and strategies, loadout suggestions, and general knowledge that the more experienced players can offer up to the new comers and fellow veterans alike to improve our overall gameplay? All small talk, war stories, update suggestions, bitches, moans, complaints, and various other messages not pertaining directly to strategy would be moderated and filtered out to keep the thread clean and strictly business

"contain(s) the tips and strategies, loadout suggestions, and general knowledge that the more experienced players can offer up to the new comers and fellow veterans alike to improve our overall gameplay. All small talk, war stories, update suggestions, bitches, moans, complaints, and various other messages not pertaining directly to strategy would be moderated and filtered out to keep the thread clean and strictly business."
And there you have it. If you wish to have general conversations regarding the game as mentioned above, please post those in the "MAG 2" thread.
Go ahead and "strategerize" already!
How to get the full resuscitation without getting resuscitation and saving 2 skill points to get something else . The best way to do this is to first get the "Medical Kit" then get the "Resuscitation" that will be 4 skill points total between the 2 so you can begin reviving teammates right away and racking up 10pts per each person revived. Then 3 more skill points to get "Improved Healing". Once you get to level 10 and have enough points to respec go ahead and respec, now redistribute your skill points to "Medical Kit" 2 points then get "Improved Healing" 3 points. Now you are able to get "Improved Resuscitation" 5 points with out having to get "Resuscitation" which will save you 2 points to put somewhere else to be used and it works just the same. Now you will be able to Revive your teammates to full health so they stay alive longer than with just half health and you saved 2 skills points doing it.

We now have 29 names on the game roster. How cool would it be to attempt getting everyone on at the same time.
is that possible? I notice that it looks as if group max is a full squad. Is there a mechanism to get 4 squads in the same game?
River_Rat_459
02-08-2010, 16:23
I don't know if we've tried it yet, but the smarter, more logical thing is to appoint leaders if we're going to have more than two full squads to start other groups. Those groups will still try to get into the same game as the first ones. Maybe it'll work, maybe not. Can't hurt to try.

TLOG had come up with a strategy offered by another clan. If we get 4 Groups with eight people and have all 4 Groups coordinate and join the same game mode at the same time it is quite possible to get all four groups on the same Platoon. I am starting to become a fan of the idea of having multiple groups coordinate this rather than have 14 people in one group.

Yes there is a way to get more than Eight people in a group. We do it quite a bit. I am not going to explain it at the moment cause the wife is kicking me off the computer, if nobody else explains it I will in a later post.

I wish there was a way to sticky this and lock it so everyone could see it and it not get covered up with other posts.
Yes for those new guys that have not done this with us before. The way to get more then 8 in a group is to have one person send invites to everyone 12-16-18 or how ever many are playing. Do NOT accept the invite until you are told to. The way you are told is you need to join the official MAG chat room that we have set up on the PS3. Most of us have access to the chat room and will invite you. It is manditory that whoever is sending invites has less than 8 in his group at the time. You can have 7 and this trick still work.
***NOTE*** If you are waiting on an invite you can NOT be in a group or in a game when the invites are sent out. If you are you will NOT get the invite.
Here is how the process normally goes step by step.
1) You want invite.
2) You log onto MAG, Join the chat room, and stay out of a group and match while waiting.
3) Ask for an invite via chat. If they are in game it could be a while.
3) Once invite is received. Best to post in the chat room that you received it so the person sending the invites doesn't miss your name on accident. DO not accept it...yet Wait until told to via the chat room your in.
4) When TOLD to in the chat room to "accept" quickly go to the invite pop up and join party. There you should be in.

although the mass group invite is a bit of a mess, the max amount i have heard confirmed is 32 so i guess you could get a full platoon together that way. The all squads join at once method can work but it does not carry the guaranty that the mass invite method does (although you may get split into different platoons on occasion, you will always be in the same game)
i smell a patch to fit that, should be that each squad leader should be able to join a group that links the squads. Or just make group sizes bigger.... odd system they have here hope it gets a work over.

RoAmMaOr of the [XBL] Xbox live clan
plays as valor and people have reported this person as going 135-0 in sabo maps due to some sort of glitch/hack where the enemy can't see or shoot them but they continually get killed by someone that isn't there. Charges also get placed or defused with no one present when this user is in the game.

They most likely won't though. Zipper has said that they don't want to have huge groups of one clan in games because they're worried it'll cause them to bully out the random players. I disagree, but hey, it's their show.
Point being though, we're lucky they left open a back door way to have big groups.

Now that MAG is roughly two weeks old and players have familiarized themselves with the game and its mechanics, we’ve decided to help all of you take the next step towards becoming MAG superstars. Specifically, every day over the next three weeks we’ll be offering a bevy of developer facts and strategies from the team right here at Zipper Interactive. With inside info like that, you can expect to learn plenty of tips, tricks and tactics that should make you all the more prepared for becoming masters of MAG’s game modes, character classes and leadership roles.
First up, is a closer look at the game mode Suppression as explained by lead designer, CJ Heine. Watch this introductory video first, and then look for CJ’s tips listed directly afterward.
Hey everyone, this is CJ Heine from Zipper and I’m here to give you some valuable info on how to maximize your time in Suppression.
Basic Tips
For players that are new to MAG, Suppression is one of the first game types they can play – keep these things in mind as you get your feet wet:
* Wins and losses in Suppression do not count in the Shadow War, but you may also find Suppression missions less stressful because you don’t have to worry about impacting the war as you learn the game.
* Remember to stick with your squad. You will improve your survivability while learning how to fight alongside your team.
* There are no vehicles or objectives to repair in Suppression, so modify your loadout appropriately (no need for the Repair Kit or Anti-tank Mines).
* Learn the locations of the Resupply Points as they’ll refill your health and ammo, so knowing the way back to these quickly will keep you alive longer. They also tend to be player magnets, and can often become the center of combat.
* Most default loadouts contain a First Aid Kit, so practice using this on yourself when your health gets too low. If you have upgraded to the Medical Kit or have the Resuscitation skill, seek out wounded allies and try healing them.
* Don’t bleed out if you’ve been killed! Get familiar with the incapacitation and bleedout mechanics in Suppression, and see if there is anyone available to revive you before you choose to respawn.
Advanced Tips
* Go easy on the low level guys! They’re in Suppression trying to learn and gain their first few levels. You are all in the same PMC, and taking the time to help them and answer their questions could make the difference down the road in a Shadow War mission.
* Suppression is a great place to experiment with your new skill unlocks. The Suppression missions are small and time to combat is quick, making them a great source for practice targets. Use this closed environment to experiment with things like anti-personnel mines, items from the Electronics skill tree, new weapon upgrades, etc.
* Right on the edge of your next player level but short on time? Often times, it’s faster to play a quick Suppression match instead of a full Shadow War mission for that last bit of needed experience.
Thanks for the help CJ! We’ll be back again tomorrow with Producer Alan Van Slyke’s tips for Sabotage – see you then.

Following up on yesterday’s tips for Suppression, we’re back again today with more tips and tricks for the next mode players encounter — Sabotage!
Our instructor for today is Producer Alan Van Slyke. Alan has been on the MAG team since the beginning and has been integral in making MAG what it is today, so you should definitely follow his advice. But first: a video explanation of Sabotage from Alan himself…
“Hey everyone, Sabotage is the first mode available in MAG that pits you against another PMC for control of the Shadow War. It’s one of the most accessible game types as it only requires you to secure three objectives for victory. Follow these guidelines, and you’re sure to do your part!”
Basic Tips
* Squad cohesion is important. There are multiple approach routes as an attacker, so talk to and follow your squad leader and steamroll the opposition as a unit.
* Having problems getting your squad to A or B objectives? Two or three medics per squad can pick up any fallen teammates along the way, which keeps the squad together on approach.
* The faction that typically prevails in Sabotage is the one that’s willing to make a focused charge at the objective. Sustained firefights at 100 meters from the objective as an attacker may give you a nice kill/death ratio, but will more often than not, result in your loss.
* If you have a headset, let your squadmates know about the guy under the stairs or in the church tower (yes, I hate that guy too). If you don’t have a headset, listen for callouts from your team.
* FRAGOs mean double points. They’re set by your squad leader as a mechanism to give the squad a unified goal and provide double XP when you’re in the FRAGO’s vicinity. If you’re interested in getting more points, these will get you there fast.
Advanced Tips
* On approach as an attacker, drop smoke grenades about 80-100 meters from A or B. This will get your full squad to within striking distance where you can regroup and make the final push to the objective.
* All final C objective buildings have front entrances (attackers) and rear entrances (defender). A few attackers can often flank C towards the back to disrupt the defender’s spawn into the final objective building. This provides a critical opportunity to secure the final objective. Ten seconds of spawn wave disruption can often result in an Attacker’s victory.
* Poison Gas and Frag grenades are great ways to clear Sabotage objective buildings of enemies. Poison does nasty proximity damage over time and Frag grenades can insta-kill if they’re too close – this provides a huge additional bonus in that fragged enemies can’t be revived and must travel back to the objective from the spawn point.
Thanks Alan! We’ll return tomorrow with Acquisition tips from designer Joe Maris.
Cheers.

What’s up MAG fans? For today’s jaunt into the world of first-person tactics, Zipper’s Chief Software Architect and Ultimate Frisbee lover, Nate Klee, tells how it’s done on the 256-player mayhem that is our Domination mode. Watch the brief preparatory movie below and look for Nate’s tips after it’s done.
Hello, this is Nate and these Domination tips will help you achieve your best.
Basic Tips:
The goal of the attackers in Domination is to destroy a rival PMC’s oil facility in 3 phases. Each attacking platoon first needs to simultaneously grab control of two burn-off towers. Once these are both held, they are destroyed and can’t be repaired. Destroying these towers also unlocks a pair of cooling towers which operate in a similar fashion. Once those are taken out, the attackers move in to take over oil pump controls and destroy the facility. The more pumps that are held, the faster you can damage the facility. The goal for the defenders is to keep the facility from taking too much damage before the attackers run out of reinforcements.
* Try to stay near to your squad. Not only do you receive leadership bonuses but you are more likely to be resuscitated quickly.
* Come in prepared with a loadout that has a repair kit for defending and a rocket launcher for attacking.
Advanced Tips:
If you are attacking:
* Focus on taking out the defender bunkers and possibly the AAA before you go for the cooling towers.
* Make sure that you take out the bunker turrets from behind cover before you rush in to plant charges on the bunker.
* You can damage the bunker turrets with rockets, grenades, APC turrets, and even small arms fire.
* Make sure that your squad leader puts down FRAGOs on each objective.
* Lead objective assaults with grenades.
If you are defending:
* Keep your bunker turret repaired. You can repair it faster with multiple people repairing at once, though there are diminishing returns.
* Repairing the AAA is a great stall tactic since it can push back the attackers. You can often grab a motor pool vehicle and drive up to repair it with some protection.
* You can force offensive Helicopters to fly off by damaging them, forcing attackers to spawn further away from the front lines.
* Repairing the doors around the objectives can prevent the attackers from flooding in.
Much obliged Nate! That finishes off our MAG tips for the game modes, but there’s more to come. Drop by again tomorrow for Skill Tree wisdom from Designer Jason Olander.

what?!?!?! MAG 2 is coming out?!?!?!
oh..... :( damn
lol thanks River.
I have a Idea about this --- How about making a Category under Operations or Shock & Awe! titled "War Room" where we can post information that can contain the tips and strategies, loadout suggestions, and general knowledge that the more experienced players can offer up to the new comers and fellow veterans alike to improve our overall gameplay creating a new one for every Game we play and keeping it stricly for that tipe of info something Smoke can overlook before the post is alowed to be posted just my .02 cents what do you all think :)
I like the one RR made already titled "MAG War Room" but I do like the stickied idea so it's at the top for newcomers to see first.
i would suggest everyone dump the assault rifle and just take machine gun. Honestly the LMG is over powered and the AR is weak, i feel they need to be balanced but at this point they are not.
I switched from AR to LMG and saw the difference right away. it really is a world of difference.
It depends on what you are using it for. A lot of guys like Max use the M4 modified with suppressor, using that coupled with Improved Stealth allows you to move about without showing up on the HUD or CNI and yields an advantage the LMG doesn't.
One thing I'd add to Domination and Acquisition tips, is that you carry rockets. Every time we go into another PMCs map on these modes (especially SVER), every one of them has rockets and takes our APCs out in seconds. Remember, the attacking APCs can be used for spawning, so they should be your number one focus when you see them. The most successful games I've played have involved taking out APCs quickly.
When you are an attacker, you can use the rockets to take out the turrets on their bunkers, making moving up on the bunkers so much easier.
Also, if you have a platoon leader in your squad that person should use the turrets or APCs because they automatically repair them with just their presenece. Don't be selfish.

The weekend is almost here and we’re closing our first week of Zip-Tips out with help from our resident “designer in rock,” Jason Olander – better known to frequent MAG.com forum visitors as BenjaminBreegg. Today, Jason drops the knowledge on MAG’s skill tree system to teach you how to make a better character. As always, we’ll begin with a prep video followed by Jason’s words of wisdom:
“Hey there, this is Jason and it’s a fact that the skill tree is the heart of your character, and the place where a soldier’s identity is forged. Specialization is the name of the game here, as becoming comfortable with a particular weapon set and support role, and then spending skill points wisely to improve upon those skills will help you become an effective combatant and squad mate. Following these few tips will help you become a force to be reckoned with out on the battlefield.
* Choose your weapon. Rather than spend precious skill points across several weapon types, pick one and spend points to continually upgrade that category’s weapon selections, attachments, and skills.
* Choose your role. Electronics warfare? Combat medic? Field engineer? Explosives expert? MAG is all about teamwork, and a balanced squad is a good squad. Decide on your “support” role immediately, and just like when specializing with a weapon, continually spend skill points to improve that skill set rather than scattering points across disciplines.
* Save your skill points. Just because you leveled up and have a shiny new skill point to spend, that doesn’t mean you have to spend it “right now.” Decide first what your next ‘must have” skill is and save up for it. That new foregrip attachment for an assault rifle or the electronic sensor jammer may be worth the wait.
* Respec early and often. Your current Respec points are shown in the “Skills” tree. When you have enough points, opting for a respec will reset all purchased skills and give you all of your earned points back to spend again; it’s basically a do-over. This is a great opportunity to hone your specialty and personal play-style to a razor’s edge.
* Be prepared for an ever-changing battlefield by “packaging” new skills and equipment together as loadouts in the Armory. Use attacker and defender skill sets as a starting point, and build from there with your specialties. Packaging up gear skills into an easily selectable loadout can make all the difference when a stealthy assault on an AA Battery is called for, or when a last stand against heavy APC’s can mean the difference between victory or defeat.
In closing, the key is to maximizing the skill tree is to choose your weapon, choose your role, then work up the ranks to become effective at both, while using the respec function liberally to find that perfect combination for your play style.”
Thanks Jason, great tips. We’ll be back with additional help from other Zippers next Tuesday, as we’ll be off Monday for the President’s Day holiday. Have a great three day weekend and we’ll see you again soon.

So, for those who don't know. Machinima.com Has an awesome youtube channel. Funny videos, tactical walk throughs, you name it. Well there's a show on there called The Ken Burton Show. http://www.youtube.com/TheKenBurtonShow
Ken is a Brit who puts together some great just for fun videos, MW2, MAG etc. He's put out an open invite & is trying to get together a squad on Valor for some videos. I figured who better than USMG players? Right? So if anyone is interested let me know. I'm going to send him a friend invite, let him know that I'll rock his tags & help out. Given our real world experience I'm sure USMG could help him put together an awesome, tactical Valor squad for some MAG videos. I'd love to at least have a rifle team with real world experience to help out. Lets help out our fellow MAG players as a whole & show them how this game is designed to be played! More news as I get it!
The only thing I think we need to have people modify is what I've said already: on Dom and Acq everyone should have a repair kit and AT4 (or whatever they call it).
AT/AP Rocket with HEAT warhead
AT/AP= Anti-Tank / Anti-personnel
HEAT= High Explosive Anti Tank
This is the 120mm version used with the M1 series of MBTs, but same concept on a smaller scale.

I was just looking around on other clans threads on the MAG forums. I was wanted to see how their sigs looked. It seemed like hardly any of them had one. Guess they were just created strictly for MAG.
Anyways I came across this one clan and thought what they did was pretty cool, not the clan. I wish we could do this too. I like how they got everyone together just to get a clan photo. That might of been that time we beat them. We need a snap shot of our clan during a battle, lol. Does anyone have this capability?

The LMG is probably better overall on balance, but the shotgun is great fun. If you take the shotgun, having the machinepistol upgrade for your sidearm is useful; the machinepistol is pretty good at longer ranges than you can reach with the shotty.

The first LMG is all I use!!! I love that thing. People can say that it is BS and takes no skill all day long. Not true you still have to aim to kill people with it. You just don't have to reload every 30 rounds. There are too many enemys running around in these maps for me to be using an AR. LMG is great for clearing out a room of enemys. I hear SVER bitch all day on the forums about how they think ours are to over powered. They have an even more power but they just have less bullets, 75 instead of 100.

Hey, this is Keith with some advice how to get in there for some close quarters combat!
Basic Tips:
* The Commando is the exact opposite of the Sniper. It’s all about popping up in the middle of the enemy and wrecking havoc at close range. Heck, Commandos are the modern day berserkers… a highly skilled fighter to take on a squad at 5m, and completely crazy for doing it.
* The holy trifecta of your loadout is your weapons. The shotgun is perfect for one shot take downs, but it makes a lot of noise — so it’s best used when backup is nearby since everyone and their uncle is going to hear you. The SMG with a silencer is perfect for getting in there with little or no support because of its high fire rate with the added bonus of keeping you off the enemy’s mini-maps. Finally, don’t forget to grab the “Knives: Improved Swipe Speed” and “Knives: Expanded Reach” skills. Nothing says “Commando” better than rushing in with a med kit and a knife, dropping everyone and never making a sound!
* Seriously consider Improved Stealth and Health for survivability.
* Stay out of open areas and stick to cover and flanks so that you can safely rush your opponents when the time is right.
Advanced Tips:
* The Motion Sensor can keep you alive. Equip it and you can see your enemies on the mini-map every time they twitch. Know what’s around that corner BEFORE you get there.
* Shadows are your friend. Don’t make a noise and hold still and most of the time they will run right by you! Remember: you have to get to your objective alive and undetected.

Count me in :D
sounds like fun. I can see it now 4 man stacks, cover me while i move, 3-5 second rush,
"I'm up! He sees me! I'm down.."
I am more then willing to say the LMG is BS, you should be a slower mover and have trouble firing the gun. Like you all notice the gun is far better then almost any other at range, I just stick with my shotgun and let them come to me. I will say even if I do feel the LMG is a joke, take full advantage of it, I just wish they would make some changes.

Question ~
I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place to post this, but I've looked and this seems as good of a place as any. I know that USMG is a Valor clan, but I also know that there are members, like I, who are going to work towards the Platinum Trophy. In order to do so, you have to reach level 60 in each of the three PMCs. Therefore my question is, is there or should we make a place where we can post what PMCs were going to when so we know who to hook up with.
Just curious, and again, I apologize if this is a bad place to post...

Maximus myself a couple other were talking about this a while back. I think if we move to other PMCs we should do it in groups if anything. Not just one guy going off on his own. We are a clan and should be sticking together. I am almost level 60 now, probably level 59 and a half. I was going to wait and let some more members get to were I am before discussing switching PMCs. There are only a few where I am now that play almost every day.

Just tried a new Domination defense loadout that I highly recommend. I bought the SMG with some extra skill points, so for a new loadout I used the SMG, Med Kid, Repair Kit, and Gas Grenades. It worked out really well because I could gas the gates as soon as they blew up, giving the team time to repair them, and giving me tons of extra kills.

but when this cross roads happen....whats going to happen with us on mag i knw USMG will be around cuz there will allways be mmo games and stuff for all concoles and we are a great bunch best clan i have ever been in in my 30 years of living...but i like mag n love playing mag with yall... so was just curious what will happen
one thing i thought bout since i sbelive most of us are close to the same level maybe ...set a time n date once we reach top level and then we all switch to the same thing raven or whatever what ever usmg vote on???
any thought bro's???

The plan is that we will wait until the people wanting to switch are ready and able. Then as a group we will jump to another Faction. Some members are not interested in switching Factions but there are a few that want to get the trophies myself included. So, we all shall wait as a group and go together.
MaximusR3
02-19-2010, 16:47
I and a few others plan on switching factions for the sole purpose of getting all the trophies. We (USMG) are Valor, and those of us that make the rounds will be trying to power through the ranks of the other factions as quickly as possible so we can return to Valor and the rest of the clan. I think we should switch in groups, as many of us are at similar levels. Only o few of us are at 60 now, maybe 5 at the most, with a few more pretty close. Then there are a lot in the 30's so perhaps they can wait for the next group if they so choose. just a thought though, nothing official in my response

every one asks about when will we change PMC's and how will it be done. Now many diferent thoughts have been discused here as to what we will do, but the question I think we need to ask is what will happen if a small group change over? the rest of us will keep playing as Valor. So will there be any problems arise since as far as I know there can only be one (UGM) Clan in the game. So how will we play some as (UGM) Valor and some as (UGM) Raven or S.V.E.R.? in my opinion we need to change PMC's as a clan there for we must wait on all our members to reach lvl 60 as Valor in order to change PMC's remember we are a Team plus we do have a good Leader in TLOG who I belive will make the right desision on this matter lets wait on his call then we execute. we can only move as fast as our slowest member can. I am not saying this because I think we need to stop talking about what will we do just stating the obvious so post away your ideas now I cant talk for TLOG but I am sure he can use your input on the issue inorder to make his desision. again just my .02 cents :D

Thanks for the vote of confidence but I think the UMG tag will stay with Valor. I think guys who want to branch off for other PMCs should do so together so no one is alone. Maybe once you guys get 4 guys who are ready. I'm not sure how big the demand to change is so you guys should figue it out amongst yourselves in this thread. I can't make the choice for you guys. Just communicate and godspeed in returning to Valor.

i would have no problem making a small branch off for the groups that decide to make the jump. We could go with Raven USMG [RMG] and SVER USMG [SMG] or something to that effect or if the demand is low, we could just go clantag-less and group up via the friends list.

I am about level 49 att, but hopefully reaching 60 soon. Anyways I am one that is interested in getting the trophies, so count me in for a group going to another PMC.

you're not supposed to reveal evil schemes until after we are about to execute them, sheesh, never seen the movies or what?
now we have to formulate a new devious plan.....i mean....do nothing. because we never plotted anything

Hi everyone, kinda new around here but I'd wondered the same thing before. I'm nowhere close to vetting but my cousin and I were "friends" or in a "group" a while back before he vetted to SVER. I can now see that he's online but have no options to interact with him through the community page in MAG.
I admit to not thoroughly reading every post in this topic, but here's an idea. If EVERYONE in the clan agreed to have a PMC "Path" to the platinum medal then it might not be too big of an issue. For example, everyone agrees, or the CIC decrees that members who want the platinum trophy do it in a specific order such as Valor, Raven then SVER. We wouldn't all vet and move at the same time, but by following the same track then it wouldn't turn into a charlie foxtrot. We would follow a bell curve of sorts moving from PMC to PMC, possibly making communication and grouping slightly easier. Just an idea though.
Any thoughts?
if it is done.... then it would be put to a vote, as to which group to move on to. i'm not a fan of the other pmc's so i don't think i will be doing this.

I think that would be best. Set up a vote open to those only who want to make the switch as to witch PMC most of USMG's members will be switching to in the near future. We all vote for a week or whatever, then set a time frame for the switch.
RyanVanO
02-20-2010, 12:13
I wouldn't switch over. Trophies don't mean anything to me. It's taking me long enough to reach lvl 60 so I wouldn't wanna waste more time on another PMC.
I don't care about trophies, but i'll switch over just to try something different.

with all the talk about switching I want to in order to try the other PMC's but what hapens when you switch do you go to lvl 1 and start over and what about if you switch and want to go back to your original PMC will I start back at lvl 1 if so I think I will make alternate PSN accounts and play the other PMC's that way :D

...what hapens when you switch do you go to lvl 1 and start over...
yeah, you start at level 1 again, the only thing that remains are your stats on the stat page. Once you hit 60 you can go veteran again and switch to another PMC, or you can always stay with your current faction and just go through the ranks again. You get a 10% xp bonus once you go veteran as well so that helps you level up a bit faster

I am up for the vote thing but set a date for the switch, as long there are at least a squad to go over to the other PMC. As for the tag, we should be able to get UMG or equivalent UmG,uMg, or something like that as long as it is 3 characters. Be right back the pizza rolls are burning.

I just hit lvl 51 so I'm not really thinking hard about it yet but where I stand is where ever the group wants to do. I don't mind changing PMCs and if we do, I vote for Raven but I'll go where ever the majority decides. I do like the idea of moving as a group though as in blocks of people. I don't mind waiting once I hit lvl 60 for more others to get to 60 then move over in groups of 8 to make a squad.
One of the major things I like about this group is that there's a lot of us and anytime you feel like MAG'in up, you're usually sure to find a clanmate online to play along side.
*On a sidenote, how does everyone feel about me making an online spreadsheet that everyone can edit with their level. I can create a thread that people can post their rank on and change it themselves. Just so everyone knows how close people are to changing PMCs?
you can see levels on the community clan page. just fyi.
RedCon-ONE
02-21-2010, 04:24
Yeah, but I was thinking of something supplimentary to that that we can access out of game. Plus unless they're online at the time, I don't think you can check out thier level. I haven't tried that out yet though so I may be wrong.
yeah, if you go into the clan page you can click on their player card and it'll show you. To track levels on a spreadsheet, I just think would be too much. People change levels daily.

We have returned! For today’s Zip-Tips, Lead Tester and owner of the world’s largest video game t-shirt collection, Jay Embry, walks us through the popular Direct Action class in MAG. If you’re the visual type we have this nifty Direct Action video narrated by Jay himself, followed by his handy tips. Enjoy!
Hello, this is Jay! The Direct Action soldier is invaluable to the team whether they’re attacking or defending. If attacking, it’s going to be your job to do as much damage as possible to key defensible points — like using your rockets to take out Defensive Emplacement Turrets. If defending, it’s the Direct Action guy’s job to keep key defense objectives up and running or out of enemy hands all together. Here are some specific tips to help you be the most effective Direct Action soldier you can be.
Basic Tips
* To be Direct Action, the most obvious step is to make sure you have a heavy machine gun in your loadout.
* Keep some kind of demolition gear with you at all times. Either a rocket launcher or mines will do the trick.
* Always stick with your squad. Keep the Commandos covered, and revive any fallen teammates if you have the “Resuscitation” skill equipped.
Advanced Tips
* Be sure to have loadouts geared for attacking and defending. If attacking, you probably won’t need a repair kit, so don’t take one. If defending make sure to have weapons that will best help you fend off attackers or stop a stolen vehicle from escaping!
* Make sure to have a good variety of weapons/gear in your loadouts. Always communicate with your squadmates to make certain you aren’t leaving anything behind that could prove valuable for your attack/defense.
* It’s a good idea to upgrade your machine gun as often as possible. Keep the red dot and foregrip on it to increase accuracy for most of your career.
* It’s also a good idea to get the “Increased Health” skill. Extra health will keep you alive longer. And the longer you live, the more enemies you can take out with your giant man cannon.
* Stay behind cover and move with your squad in waves. You’re not a one-man army and are meant to focus your demo on key objectives.

Hot on the heels of yesterday’s medic-oriented patch, Zipper Technical Art Director and beer aficionado Steve Suhy shows off his penchant for great timing with tips on how to play MAG’s Field Support Class. But first, this nicely-presented video followed by Steve’s comments.
Cheers recruits. This is Steve Suhy from Zipper Interactive here to give you some insightful tips on maximizing your Field Support Abilities. Let’s do this!
Basic Tips
* You always want to maximize your points at the end of a round and using your field support abilities greatly contributes to that cause. So listen to your squad leader and get those FRAGO multipliers. Is the AA down and your squad leader has FRAGO’ed it? Don’t walk, SPRINT TO IT, and grab that multiplier!
* Use your skill points early for field support skills. These GREATLY contribute to secondary XP.
* Heal from the field. Get a resuscitation kit ASAP. Your squad will love you for it. So will your XP bonus.
* Improved Repairing is key! Basically another way of saying score XP faster!
* Wanna make friends the easy way with your squad? DON’T BLEED OUT! At point of death, first use your analog stick to scan the immediate area for a medic. If one is visible, call out on the mic and wait on the countdown timer as long as possible. Your pain is your squadmates’ reward. And please say thanks – courtesy is still appreciated on the field of blood and destruction.
Advanced Tips
* If on defense during a Domination match, and you are spawning at your rear point, flank the outsides of your quadrant and reach the forward destroyed bunkers. Repair and move on to another destroyed bunker if possible to repair. Repairing a bunker before repairing an AA will spawn teammates that can help in the job of repairing an AA. Team trumps Rambo every time.
* While repairing a forward bunker and notice that other bunkers are destroyed, pick the farthest bunker away from your current repair. Once the repaired bunker is up, the opposition will swarm that area to investigate. If you repair far enough away from THAT focus, you’ll have a greater chance of success in getting multiple bunkers repaired. Eliminating predictability is the key to survival.
* While repairing ANYTHING, always be aware of being vulnerable to an easy line of site from the opposition. Don’t make yourself a target. Don’t be a clothing mannequin with a target on your back.
* Healing around ANY, yes ANY FRAGO’d targets doubles XP. Take advantage. Be an XP shark.
Awesome tips Steve, thank you kindly. As for the rest of you, we’ll be back again tomorrow with the good word from designer Christopher Burns for his take on the Rapid Assault class. See you in 24!

If there’s anything we’ve learned in the first few weeks of MAG’s time on the battlefield, it’s that new players love to start out as the Rapid Assault class. A common soldier type on the battlefield, the Rapid Assault guys are all about speed and efficiency – and the guy who’s going to tell you how to master them is the always-awesome designer, Christopher Burns.
Watch the following video and then settle in as Chris takes us away to strategy land!
Hello folks, I’m Christopher Burns from Zipper Interactive and I’m here to help get you started using the Rapid Assault weapons and tactics.
Basic Tips
* Rapid Assault troops are a combination of firepower and mobility. Their primary proficiency is with the Assault Rifle, and their Medium Armor frees them up to move quickly. With careful Armory choices, a properly-spec’d Rapid Assault troop can even and take on certain utility roles here and there for squads that need it.
* Concentrate on stability and accuracy improvements in the Assault Skill Tree as soon as possible. Proficiency with the Assault Rifle is your defining characteristic and will serve you well throughout your time with MAG.
* Build your loadouts from the ground up by equipping Medium Armor and the best Assault Rifle that you’ve unlocked to that point, then start adding to that. First, add any weapon attachments that you’ve unlocked, like the Foregrip and 4X sight. Then, move to the gear slots. I recommend moving the First Aid Kit to G1, and the grenades to G2. Some prefer having quicker access to grenades, but for me it is far more important to have ready access to healing.
* Your Assault Rifle is your claim to fame, but simply holding the trigger down is not good enough. Learn to fire in short bursts – it will lessen the effect of “knock-back” on the weapon, and more of your bullets will fly true to the target.
Advanced Tips
* Be ready to support your squad however you can. Rapid Assault loadouts usually have some free weight to play with, and you can make a huge impact by adding a gear item here and there.
* The loadout I prefer is the top tier Assault Rifle with 4X Optical Sight and Underbarrel Grenade Launcher, a Medical Kit in G1 and Smoke Grenades in G2. The Medical Kit will allow you to help out a bit on healing and revives (if you have purchased the ability), and the smoke will be a huge advantage when your squad rushes a bunker. When your problem is being cut to ribbons by a turret mini-gun, Smoke Grenades are by far the most effective and efficient solution. Use them!
* When things get up close and personal and ammo is running low, remember that it is much quicker to switch to your Backup Weapon than to reload your Primary. That’s what the skills in the Personal Defense tree are for. Once you have the Side-arm upgrades for Reload Speed, Swap Speed and Re-fire Time, you’ll be surprising a lot of people with that backup weapon.
Quite excellent sir, you are a scholar and a gentleman! That wraps up the Zip-Tips for this week. Join us again next week for our final week of developer tactics as we tackle the Sniper Class and MAG’s leadership abilities. Enjoy the weekend everybody.

Ok, true I am only a 53.....Been very Busy this week so I will dedicate myself to rising 2 lvls a session this week so that I can at least be lvl 60 by Monday Mar 1st. That Said I would like to know when do we as a clan plan on moving over to another PMC for Veteran mode, and also I added a poll because I keep getting different answers when I ask when we are going to do this, Also I have noticed a couple clan members are already Raven.....(These Clan Members no longer show uo in game mode because we are Valor, but they are in the clan none the less and on my Friendslist)
For the poll choose which Faction and what the time Frame.......

****Patch alert****
Zipper boasts what is "without a doubt, our biggest and most important patch yet" to be released starting 1am pacific time tomorrow, 25 Feb.
They claim to have overhauled weapons once again, sped up gear swapping, added a way to know if it's too late to diffuse a charge, fixed more glitches and exploits (opposite side gate defuse for SVER :D ), and much more. Get the details over at the MAG Blog (http://blog.mag.com/blog/2010/02/patch-alert-mag-v1-03/)
here are a few more standout updates:
Changed resuscitated player’s camera orientation to match the last camera direction used while incapacitated instead of the pre-harm camera.[/*:m:21z57xaz]
Players no longer lose XP if a teammate is killed by an objective explosion caused by a charge they planted[/*:m:21z57xaz]
Mines that haven’t been triggered are no longer removed from the map when the dead player that deploys them respawns unless that player changes their Loadout (note: The maximum number of mines you can plant cannot exceed the number you initially spawn with).[/*:m:21z57xaz]
Fixed bug that prevented “fully-resuscitated” players with more than 100 health points from receiving their full HP.[/*:m:21z57xaz]
Fixed bug that caused players to take unnecessary damage from both friendly and enemy vehicles when touching them.[/*:m:21z57xaz]
“From the hip” firing for Light and Medium machine guns have stronger recoil and are less accurate when moving.[/*:m:21z57xaz]
Modified all short-ranged weapons (pistols, PDWs, shotguns, SMGs) so that they’re less effective at long distances.[/*:m:21z57xaz]
Made Battle Rifles more effective.[/*:m:21z57xaz]
Reduced accuracy bonus for using iron sights and reflex sights so that players can no longer snipe with weapons that aren’t intended to do so.[/*:m:21z57xaz]
David_3033
02-24-2010, 11:44
Wow, good to know I guess. Now everyone is going to carry an assault rifle instead of an LMG ;) . I might actually try out claymores now if they stick around after I am dead. How are they going to change the accuracy of the sight?? Make it all blurry past a certain point or distance while ADS?? The graphics are blurry enough without that  !! Now if you used enough points to get improved health you still will have to heal yourself to go from 100hp to 120hp after being revived. They should of left some of that stuff alone IMO.
MaximusR3
02-24-2010, 11:52
my guess is they increased bullet spread at distance for iron and reflex sights, while leaving the ACOG spread alone since that is meant to increase accuracy at distance.
and you read that wrong DB (and they worded it a little weird too lol), there is a glitch that sometimes prevents you from getting the full 120HP after a 100% revive, only giving you 100HP. This patch fixes that so you will always get the full 120HP from a full revive and 60HP from a 50% revive
David_3033
02-24-2010, 11:58
Oh ok thanks for clearing that up. I don't think this has happend to me yet.
MaximusR3
02-24-2010, 12:04
usually it happens without even noticing because you are either in the heat of battle and once you get picked up you are more concerned about getting cover, or 2 or more people are trying to revive you so you get hit with a revive and a heal at the same time. I noticed it a lot more early on before i got the improved health when i would sometimes get 50% revived to 60HP. I think the issue was the med kit was healing based on the user's stats, so if a person with 120HP was 50% reviving, it always gave 60HP, whereas a player without would always revive with 50HP
I've actually noticed it quite a few times. It'll also flux on half heals between 50 pts and 60.

I say do this ONLY if you want to get the trophies. Aside from that this isn't a clanwide move. I'm staying Valor and will veteran up, but not change PMCs. That's just my take.
Of course they did this after I just used my last respec to clean up my specialty. Grr. I would have switched back to AR. Oh well, I'm almost lvl 60 anyway. I'll do it when I vet.

they also dropped the respec costs, if that makes you feel any better lol
i do recall how easy iron site long distance kills were back when i used the assault rifle. way to accurate for long distance and no special sight
this should be done strictly for trophy hunting..... the clan at large will not be changing their pmc status :ugeek:

decent article but one really good point:
“Platoon Leader Pause” – Once the AAA goes down, wait for the Platoon Leader to call in a strafing run or Precision Strike before calling in your own ability. Their command abilities have more impact, and you don’t want to start the cooldown timer and make them wait by calling in your assets first.

I finished listening to the Sarcastic Gamer podcast which did a piece on MAG. I'm still a command noob even at lvl 52 so it was very informative. One thing I took away is that whoever we have as platoon leaders should command squads when in charge. I know it sounds simple but I have never heard this done. I usually hear platoon leaders bitch. We as a clan should just aim to do this game justice and set an example by doing it the right way. If you're a platoon leader, use the chat control to tell squads where you need them and let the squad leaders figure out how to best implement this and set the appropriate fragos. Discuss this.
Agreed. I notice that most leaders don't even really talk a lot. They just set a FRAGO and use the command abilities.

I used to try to be pretty active as platoon leader until i got tired of all the squad leaders with attitudes and people that just don't want to listen. One game i started off with a little moto and explained what i'd like the squads to focus on and then some squad leader gets on the platoon chat and says "who the F@#% made you boss?!" umm....well the game did. people don't like to accept that. I'll start trying again though, maybe people have started to come around

I'm a noob at this. I sometimes try to clusterbomb/UAV without AA being down  Not really anyone's fault. This game is complicated initially and Zipper did a poor job in educating gamers for a new IP like this.

** This turned into an essay and I apologize. Should be a good read for those who are interested in Raven though. **
I'm newly Raven and the weapons are noticeably less powerful.
Also, the ENTIRE environment changes and I'm not a fan. The music changes to more "futuristic," and the whole interface doesn't seem like it's for a military like Valor's did.
There are also significantly less people with mics. I know this won't matter when UMG makes a mass change over, if we do, but if you play with only a few people, those are about the only people you can count on.
Now for a comparison for the weapons I'm currently using. the F90 (P90 realistically) is a great deal better than Valor's MP5 due to better accuracy and a 50 round mag. Thing is, you need all 50 rounds unless you hit their head. But, the F90 comes with a red dot with a weapon. There is a difference between this one, and the one you can spend two skill points on, but I personally don't think it's worth it. On the subject, I've red elsewhere that people say that Valor's red dot takes up too much of the screen, meaning the frame of the sight. This being said, the Raven red dot is a LOT smaller, but I think it's even too small. I tried this out with the assault rifles and the F90, both I was disapointed due to the two skill points I wasted for the F90's, and the assaualt rifle's (at least the first two tiers) have V front sight posts. Meaning their like the AK's where they're open at the top unlike the M4/M16 where it's a full circle. I think this is way easier to use. Still would spend the two skill points on the AR's due to the little zoom you do get with the red dot. Quick note, the second tier AR comes with Raven's pistol grip, which is horizontal versus vertical if you know what I mean, so it saves you two skill points. The F57 (FiveSeven realistically) is also better, in the same ways as the F90, than Valor's M9. More accuracy, very little decrease in power, if any, and a 20 round mag.
So overall, Valor blow's away Raven in damn near every way. NOt a fan of the futuristic shit, and the other environments. If I wasn't trophy hunting, there's no way in hell I'd ever switch. Hopefully all this get's better once the group changes over and I return from my training.
Sorry for the essay this turned into. Hope this helps though...

Jury is still out on the patch. I do like being revived in the same direction the camera is facing! Also the faster gun switching is nice. As far as the gun balancing......not sure? Tyjer, BlackArrow, and I were playing this morning and I think Zipper still has alot of work to do, although we still had a blast like always!
i myself notice that the LMG is still effective at long range.

i myself notice that the LMG is still effective at long range.
I'll agree that it is still effective, but I noticed the spread is much larger at full auto. Before, I could acquire the target, then bury the trigger and let 'er rip. Now I have to practice better trigger control to stay on target. Which I know should be done any way, so I'm not bitchen', its just an observation.
I played lastnight (finnaly) since the latest patch. The first tier LMG seemed unchanged, but the M60 MOD or Top tier LMG was so inaccurate I can no longer use it...damn shame

People who play as snipers love it. People who are killed by snipers hate them. But regardless of which end of the spectrum you’re currently on, anyone can become an expert at the Zoom-in of Death with this excellent tips provided by UI Manager Steve Harris and Lead Designer of MAG, CJ Heine. But first, a video.
What’s up? This is Steve and it’s important that you know that Snipers are usually the guys supporting the rest of the team by clearing objective areas or preventing the opposing team from reaching their objectives from long range. Being an effective sniper and contributing to your squad is extremely rewarding when it’s done correctly. Here are a few tips to help you become a better MAG Sniper.
Basic Tips
* Keep moving! The biggest mistake that snipers make is that they stay camped in one spot. The action in MAG moves very quickly, and even if you are able to take a few targets down, it’s just a matter of time until someone finds you. Dropping down, taking a few quick shots and moving again will spare you from the dreaded knife in the back.
* Keep moving, Part 2! The second biggest mistake when sniping is laying prone, firing away at opposing players while watching the rest of your squad failing to flip an objective. Unless you are directly preventing opposing players from reaching the objective or are actively firing at enemies in the objective itself, you are not making enough of a contribution to your squad. Run in with your squad using your pistol, PDW or knife and get that objective flipped.
* BYOH (Bring Your Own Healing). Especially if you’re the type of sniper that likes to get off of the main routes, don’t expect people to go out of their way to heal you when you’re injured.
* Don’t waste time by scanning for players through a scope. Stay zoomed out until you see distant movement, and then zoom in. Take a few shots, zoom back out, and repeat. If you have a bipod on your rifle, only deploy it after you’ve spotted a target, as you will automatically zoom in when the bipod is deployed.
Advanced Tips
* The marksman rifle in the default loadout is a fantastic weapon and often overlooked. By upgrading Reload Speed, Steady Aim and adding the Foregrip and Suppressor, the weapon is transformed into the ultimate offensive sniper rifle, allowing the snipers to play aggressively on objectives and moving with the rest of the squad. With this loadout, the Sniper can fire off 3-4 shots very quickly, which is enough to take down most targets, as well as zoom in and hit targets at range when needed. Just remember to finish off your target when it is incapacitated, as this weapon does less damage than the other sniper rifles.
* The Improved Sniper Rifle in tier 4 of the Marksman skill tree deals more damage to vehicles and turrets than most other weapons, which can help your squad deal with bunker turrets, helicopters, APCs and defending vehicles. It will also kill most players with just one shot, unless they’re in heavy armor or have extra health. This is the ideal weapon for killing players as they are parachuting in, making it possible to get three or four parachute kills in just one drop.
* Keep an eye out for sniping positions which give you sightlines on resupply points and objectives. The resupply points and objectives in MAG require a player to stand still for a few moments while interacting with the object, giving the sniper plenty of time to zoom in and get a headshot.
* With such a big experience reward attached to resuscitation, it is common to see players sprinting around the battlefield, resuscitating other players. Take advantage of this by watching the incapacitated player and killing players as they run up to revive them. Skilled Snipers can try waiting an extra moment for the player to be revived before quickly killing both of targets.
What a great way to wrap up our class tips, thanks guys. Of course, we still have more to teach you. Tomorrow and throughout the week, we’ll be closing our MAG tip series with help for the game’s various leadership roles. Come back here tomorrow as we kick things off with Audio Lead Keith Sjoquist and his general overlord tips.

Now that you’ve learned some general leadership techniques in MAG from the folks here at Zipper, it’s time to specialize. Your instructor for today is Zipper Interactive’s very own Audio Manager, Mary Olson. Watch this background video first and then check for Mary’s strategies immediately below.
Hi, this is Mary and today we’re going to take a closer look at the Squad Leader role – which is the first and most active of all leadership positions in MAG.
As an SL, you’re primary focus should be good Communication with your Squad and Platoon, strategic use of Waypoints and the Fragmentary Order system (FRAGOs), and using your Command Assets wisely.
Basic Tips
* If you don’t already, you should start playing with a headset. It will make communicating with your team much faster and more effective. Regardless of how you play, though, stay in close contact with your team – assign your squad to objectives, and coordinate. Don’t let them wonder what to do.
* Use of Fragmentary orders is a huge part of the Squad Leader role. Learn to FRAGO strategically, and your whole squad will benefit. Plus, bonus XP is awarded to anyone in your squad performing any action within a 20-meter radius of the FRAGO’d objective. Don’t worry about marking the default objective, though, it’s automatically FRAGO’s without you having to give the order and you still get the bonus!
* If you’re new to the Squad Leader role, start out in the simpler gametypes where there is less to FRAGO, and less going on. If you’re in a game with no SL, you can assume the role mid game, and try it out. Also, if you’re in over your head as a new SL, you can back out of the role without quitting the game.
* If you switch your spawn point as a Squad Leader, the rest of your squad also switches to that spawn point. If you’re stuck as a squad, this is a great way to try a new angle and bring your squad along with you.
Advanced Tips
* Use chat channels to coordinate with other Squad Leaders and Platoon Leader (Press the directional pad “Up”).
* FRAGO outside bunkers first and work your way across the line — this way you’re only taking fire from one side.
* Guided artillery only damages vehicles so don’t call it in on a bunch of guys running around. Conversely, your mortar barrage does not affect vehicles, so make sure to use guided artillery if vehicles are your target.
* If attacking, use Satellite UAV first. You’ll then be able to wisely use your cluster bombs and lessen friendly kills.
* “Platoon Leader Pause” – Once the AAA goes down, wait for the Platoon Leader to call in a strafing run or Precision Strike before calling in your own ability. Their command abilities have more impact, and you don’t want to start the cooldown timer and make them wait by calling in your assets first.
Thanks Mary, that’s some great advice. Speaking of great advice, we’ll be back again tomorrow with tips on how to become an effective Platoon Leader with Software Manager Mike Nicolino and designer Marc Janas. Over and out.

After a three-week run, we’ve come to our final installment of our MAG Developer Tip series. To close it out Zipper’s training, vehicle and environment designer Ben Jones walks us through the biggest responsibility in the game: being the OIC. As always, we open with a video:
Howdy, Ben Jones here! With all the great tips that have come from other Zippers over the week (particularly all of the leadership-oriented bits that have come out over the last few days), I’m going to impart this small list of tried and true techniques that build upon earlier strategies and maximize your effectiveness as an OIC. Some are obvious, some aren’t, but all are helpful.
Basic Tips:
* Your OIC abilities can be accessed by using the TCM through the D-Pad or the CNI by pressing SELECT.
* These abilities are best used while trying to make a push as either an attacker or defender, so try and time their use with changes in the battle! If attackers have opened up their forward spawns try blockading them to give your team time to regroup.
* Communicating with the Squad and Platoon leaders below you is essential. Maneuver through the comms channels by using the D-Pad and guide your team to victory.
Advanced Tips:
* If most of your platoons have fallen back from their frontline defenses, consider using “Signal Jamming” to keep the enemies from using their own CNI effectively, while also using the “Blockade” ability to decrease their spawn times. Finally, use “Rapid Redeploy” to increase your own spawn time and finish the job.
* Speaking of Blockade and Rapid Redeploy, if Blockade is used on you, you can use Rapid Redeploy in return to move the timer to normal.
* “Tactical Strike” is essential for full-on attacks. With it, you can eliminate immediate wait times on any and all cooldown bars for command abilities within your entire army.
* Team Broadcast is one of your available comms channels on the D-Pad. Use it sparingly to bolster the morale of your troops and praise them for decisive actions!
Thank you very much, Ben. More importantly, though, thank you to each and every one of our fans who has helped make MAG a big success for us. We hope you enjoyed our tip series and invite you check back again with us in the coming weeks for even more news from 2025.

Just hit Lvl 60 myself. I'm willing to go where the group decides.
THC clan glitchers and team killers they play for valor :?
almost there i'm at 56 now
Got another one to watch out for:
RoAmMaOr of the [XBL] Xbox live clan
plays as valor and people have reported this person as going 135-0 in sabo maps due to some sort of glitch/hack where the enemy can't see or shoot them but they continually get killed by someone that isn't there. Charges also get placed or defused with no one present when this user is in the game.
I've seen that glitch before ... or rather, "didn't see" it. lol
And I have seen a guy get auto-kicked. He kept TKing me when I was PL in a Sabo match, I had tried voting him out but was always one vote shy of kicking him. Then right after the last time he TKed me he was just out. I assume it was due to auto-kick
told you guys that the 50.cal was the way to go, tears through those sever nimrods like they're not even there.

There were a few of us playing over the weekend and had the unfortunate event of having a THC member as squad leader. [THC]flip_1313 or something like that
ok so Level 60... Now what?
is there a plan to organize UMG on Raven by any chance? I wont use Veteran mode unless the clan gets set up and agrees on SVER or Raven and sets up over there.

Hrmmm *thinks*   nah.. I'd rather not piss off everyone lol though I'd like to say I've noticed a glitch where if I go to knife someone when I come back I finish the swing. it doesn't happened every time, but enough that I was wondering if anyone else had this issue.. I've hit 2 or 3 people doing that.. felt really bad about it :/
LOLz I remember killing DBG with that once. He's the only one I killed like that so far.

Good report Reaper. I was looking forward to going to Raven but I'm kinda wondering now. Still, I'm up for the challenge. I just want to move to where the group wants to go. So, I've officially made the move along with ReaperOfRevenge.
To our JCs, what are our OpOrders?
RAVEN CHAT: I plan on making a new separate PS3 chat channel called USMG Raven to prevent any confusion within our current chat channel
CLAN TAG: Do you want us to go a head and create a UMG Clan for Raven? I haven't talked to Reaper yet so I don't know if he has done that already. I'm currently running Clanless until further orders.
RECRUITMENT: I'll assume a hold until word comes down from the JCs or our official recruiters make the move. It's my opinion that, for the time being, that we establish our UMG Clan with only those that have gone through the Valor Ranks and have played those hours with us. Once we have a corp team of 12 or so in Raven, we can then look to recruiting. My thoughts being to not overburden our forum site with even more requests to verify than we can currently handle.
FORUM: I'll start a new "MAG: Raven" thread with the help of ReaperOfRevenge seeing as he's probably our most veteran Raven Player atm and has already provided us with usefully info on Raven weapons and such.
Recruiting in general is on hold until further notice. And as far as I know we are recruiting through Valor since we are, as a clan, Valor.
Recruiting in general is on hold until further notice. And as far as I know we are recruiting through Valor since we are, as a clan, Valor. we're a valor clan, we do all of our clan operations through valor. if and when we do make the jump to raven..... it will not change the fact that it is only being done for trophies and nothing else. as for clan tag there is only one UMG, so we would need an off shoot..... so we can monitor who's online and to keep track of each others overall progress. we can put up some ideas here, then put it to a vote. some examples FC (fox company) AC(alpha company) BC (bravo company ) ect.
grizzmis or grizzmiss tk big time

its just that MAG is no fun at level 60. Whats the point? They took the game and focused it around gaining levels that it became levels that mattered. I'm bored. I will play with another 7 guys in a UMG squad and play to win, but thats really all i can see myself doing on MAG.

For me, it's not so much about the trophies as it is playability. Now that I've hit lvl 60 I feel I've only played a 1/3 of the game and want to check out the rest. I've only played a few games on the Raven side so far and even though I've done many hours on Sabo map as Valor, it still kinda feels like a new map starting from the other side. New tactics, new routes of attack, new sniper positions, it all feels fresh again. Plus maybe I can actually win an Acquisition game for a change. LOL

Another theing I want to share is this, I was at GameStop and I managed to get a promo card for SVER and they told me they still have them in some of the stores..all you have to do is ask.
The card that I got was marked SVER but it has RAVEN and VALOR boxes that were not checked..I wonder if VALOR has any out there.

just jumped on MAG for the first time in what feels like weeks and it's like i never left lol. People still have problems listening to leaders and more than half of the people are out for themselves just trying to get kills. Jack and I seemed to be the only ones with mics in the last match i played, and it's not like it was a sabo defense map where you can still get by with minimal communication, it was Acquisition lol. We won but not by skill, by the fact that the attackers sucked too. I need to play with the group again so i can remember what real teamwork felt like

Even as SL you really get no indication which is yours on the map you can use the little tool bar on the left of the map to help you. Traditionally i believe that it is the one to the left of your objectives. But I am most likely wrong.

Yeah, the only way I know of to be sure is to use the "snap to" option after highlighting the Sensor Array, Mortar Battery, or AAA Battery on the left side of your map.
Something else I've noticed is that you can't use your bombs in another area if that area's AAA is up... sometimes I try to help other platoons get bunkers down if all mine are down. Just gotta make sure that AAA is down too.

S.V.E.R.:

personally i had thought of using UMG as the tag still since it allowed us to do that in the beta. I recall switching over to SVER and having a UMG tag and coming across BlackArrow in a match and he still had the UMG tag on Valor.
as for the clan name i was thinking of calling it:
USMGRaven Det - U.S. Military Gamers Raven Detachment
USMGSVER Det - U.S. Military Gamers SVER Detachment
but alas, whatever we decide on would work for me
it wont allow you to do that now, so that's why we're doing this. since we're only allowed 3 letters in the clan tag it has to be short, that ......and i really like the names we came up with

MiniMog7 of the OUT clan is a complete asshat, trying to give Timmy crap for not having a high enough KDR in a sabo match, telling me i need to kick him from the clan because he was dead weight, and finally, stating that USMG are obviously not team players. Nominee for King Doucher right here
I hate shitbirds like this! MAG is not COD, its not all about KDR's its about teamwork! I'm a medic/Eng and I don't have a high KDR because I'm either healing or repairing my ass off! I second the nominee for King Doucher!
