Honestly the only people i see as Lanterns are NPC's.........I work for LEX Corps(Lex was the Mentor I chose) I do odd jobs for Joker when I am in Gotham, and when in Metro I work strictly for Lex and help Circe or Sinestro when they have a Pest/Hero Problem.......LMAO

And yes, people want to play as a Lantern because they're bad ass. Though you clearly need to get your geek on, as there's a full other Lantern Corp to be the villians. Green Lanters Corp to be the Hero, Sinestro (Yellow Lantern) Corp to be Villian. For that matter, there are like 7 or 8 different lantern corp's right now.

What could possibly be better than battling with thousands of other players online in the first, and only, action MMO on the PS? How about battling FOR FREE? So what’s the catch? There is none. The entire game will be open for you to play for free. Hey everyone,
I know I got a few game invites over the weekend that unfortunately went unanswered and for that I apologize.... when I saw that the DC Universe was a free download from the PS Store I gave it a try ... $9. for the Green Lantern DLC and a weekend later I realize I kinda got sucked in.
If anyone is still playing DCUO or is thinking of starting too let me know.
I'll be back on BF3 tonight. :)

Yea ... the Corps is a DLC for 9 bucks and that lets you make a GL themed character ... I just unlocked the missions that permit you to work with other lanterns ... actually it's really kick ass because I just teamed up with John Stewart and a bunch of other lanterns (all NPCs) to stomp the guts out of Sinestro.
If you do get it let me know and we will team up.
One thing is based on the way the game fits into the DC Universe you can't be a full GL because there are only so many in the universe and the whole reason there are a lot more super powered people on earth now is because of Braniac so all the GL characters are Reserve Lanterns.
That said it's still cool as FRAKK that I can make a Green Energy Apache that hovers in and launches a missile barrage to whip the snot out of some Joker henchmen ... I'm down with being a Reserve GL *LOL*

I almost did this, but the d-l was taking forever and I had less than 1 GB left of storage, so I said F this, and deleted it all... Skyrim and BF3 came out in a few weeks after.

Just finished downloading it a while ago (took several hours). Haven't had a chance to fire it up yet.
Ok just finished playing for a few hours. Pretty damn good game, although im not too sure about the save features, and theres no pause option(its an MMO duh). My character is patterned after a Green Lantern, one question though...I bought the GL DLC, now where do I go to play it? Also, Superman is my mentor...woulda thought Hal or John woulda been. Oh well...
finished downloading it, made my character who is half naked.... sporting a split cape and man thong (to show off his butt). did I mention he is red.

You did it right ... as a low level you are not a GL per-say you have a GLs power based on the nano bots you have to progress through the missions and levels to get to start working with Corps members .... the first one I got to was in Metropolis at the Midtown (think that's right) PD station there are 2 GLs near the containment area.
Apparently once you build faction with the Corps (ie doing missions that benefit them) you get to be come a reserve Lantern.
My question was how the hell do we link up ... I tried to find a "go to your buddies" feature but couldn't ... Also What did you name your characters ... there is a manual buddy list in the social menu that might work.
I was hope'n that I might be able to help powerlevel you guys last night I'm at 22 so I could tank big stuff and you guys can get a bite of some larger XP ... (provided this runs like other MMOs)
My GL's name is ... wait for it ... MjolnirActual *LOL* (just trying to be consistent :)

PVP is player vs. player (it's a cluster fuck, for a lack of a better term. other players can attack you without warning... anytime they want, whenever they want.) it almost makes questing unbearable. I think you can change servers, or you might have to just make another character if you want to change. not sure how, this company works when it comes to that... so I couldn’t really say.

It can be good at times, and can be a blast if there's anything resembling balance on your server, but it's way to easily exploited, and can become game-breakingly annoying to boot.
I was talking about the PvP that's available regardless of server choice......it sucked and was entirely dependant on power set you chose....as in some of them were amazing, others were completely broken.

Ok I've got everyone that I know of added to my friends list. Check to see if it actually put me into your friends list too or if you have to add me as well.
That menu is accessed by the left D pad and selecting friends from the menu.
The cool thing is that you get a fair amount of options when you click on a friend's name ... including Voice chat.
I tried sending a /tell to Jack last night and apparently the message was easy to miss so at least we know to keep an eye on the chat box.
Question: Is there anyone who is planing to up it to Legendary access? Apparently they are the only people who can start a league. Apparently starting a League is the way to really manage friends in the game.

the way I am reading the blurb in the DCUO store is that Legendary status gives you the ability to start a league. I don't think members are restricted at all.
In fact I have been invited to join a bunch of different ones ... when there are large groups standing around (mainly at the PD stations) you end up getting spammed with requests ... maybe that means that members can be form any strata.

correct, the game consolidated into what they called 4 "mega-servers"
-PS3 US
-PS3 EU
-PC US
-PC EU
within each server are several "phases" both of pvp and pve variety that can be easily traversed through the phase shifter in the watchtower (heroes) or the hall of doom (villains), but here is no cross-server or cross platform connectivity whatsoever as far as I could see (I read somewhere that the devs claim game balancing is the reasoning for this but didn't see any official statements) and if you happen to be able to add someone who is on a different server to your friends list it is just shear coincidence that someone else in your own server has the very same name for their character.

I went with Batman as a mentor but I think that just affects what your starting missions will be because I've gotten to the point where i'm doing missions that Jack was doing despite having a different mentor
I'm currently lvl 15 i believe, and just unlocked a grappling hook to climb up building extremely fast. That on top of my new rocket assisted flying/gliding abilities and I'm pretty satisfied with my decision to go with acrobatics over flying or speed :D

It took me in the neighborhood of six hours with about a 15 MB speed. According to SpeedTest.net, I usually get between a C+ to C- average.

yeah you actually need about 21 gigs of space to download and install it all. not sure why it takes so damn much, it may be easier to try and find a used copy of the disc for way cheap since the game is free now so no one could be justified in selling it for more than a few bucks
wait scratch that, I looked around online and i'm reading that even with the disc it just prompts you to download it anyways so i guess that doesn't do any good.
I tried adding you smoke, but it said you didnt exist...so I'm thinking, since you are on PC and I'm on PS3....that the "GreenHavok" you found isn't me.
Leveled up to 10 tonight. Im not liking the fact that the items you get, armor and such, are changing my appearance into something HORRIBLE and completely opposite of what I want my GL to look like. Pissing me off....

hit start and go to the style menu. here you can change your appearance to any styles you have unlocked, regardless of the armor you have equipped. If you have an exact setup that you have no desire to change, you can choose the lock all option and your appearance will never change again unless you manually do it. You can also lock only certain items, like for example, I wanted my character to have a general look about him so I locked the eyes, hood, cape, and skin type so those are always a constant. Now when I pick up armor and gear the only things that can change are the boots, pants, chest, and gloves. The color scheme is still the same regardless and then if i don't like the way a new piece looks i just go back into the style menu and switch back to one i liked better

I deleted a bunch of old games I never play anymore off of my hardware and it opened about 60 GBs of space! WOW! So, I d-led it today (took about 6 hours) and I made a villain, but upon reaching lvl 3-4 Max told me to go HERO... I'm gonna make a new one tomorrow. I'll just name him ASignorelli... for the sake of being easy.

Ok everyone I need some help... I'm at the final raid for the Aquaman fight in Metropolis, and I need some help. It's a long fight that is a pain solo. Anyone interested in grouping up for a fight ... give me a yell. We gotta save Aquaman! :)

Leveled up to 10 tonight. Im not liking the fact that the items you get, armor and such, are changing my appearance into something HORRIBLE and completely opposite of what I want my GL to look like. Pissing me off....
If you go in to style, you can change your appearance to your liking without changing your stats.

I deleted a bunch of old games I never play anymore off of my hardware and it opened about 60 GBs of space! WOW! So, I d-led it today (took about 6 hours) and I made a villain, but upon reaching lvl 3-4 Max told me to go HERO... I'm gonna make a new one tomorrow. I'll just name him ASignorelli... for the sake of being easy.

what's the max group size it allows? I know we've done 4 so far but i didn't see any mention of what the limit was. I'm lvl 18 now, nearly 19. not sure how high leveled this quest is you're trying to do so i may or may not be able to hold my own lol.
I did my first alert last night, Area 51. pretty much did it solo too, since the match making only dropped one other person in it even though it's meant for 4 people and the guy sort of stood around and wandered off in the distance to explore i guess lol
I was having some trouble with the bosses solo when i played them at the suggested level but i just avoided boss fights until I was a couple levels higher and now they are a joke lol. So far i've taken down Scarecrow, Bane, Dr. Psycho, Queen Bee, possessed Raven, Giganta, Bizzarro, and Harley Quinn. I've had small battles with Joker and Clayface but I'm guessing those are not finished yet, and I have to start on the Poison Ivy missions as well. I've been getting loads of skill points thanks to the feats i'm unlocking for completing the side quests in each boss hideout, finishing the hideout without being knocked out, and defeating the boss without using consumables. every time you get 100 points in feats (think trophies or achievements) you are awarded another skill point. And since there 487 feats total in the game, excluding dlc, and each feat is worth a minimum of 10 points there are a lot of extra skill points to be had :)
The quest is lvl 24, I just started the first half fighting the fishmen. Or that may just be the first half... I'm not sure. Because instead of saving Aquaman, I'm doing something involving queen Mira.

Well I just hit lvl 10 last night, so I don't know how much help I'll be, especially if there's limited group slots. I've only defeated Gorilla Grodd and Queen Bee so far. I did Area 51 last night as well, I had a decent group, just 3 of us though. We took it down pretty quick. I was no match for the Alpha, Beta, and Zeta bosses. The final boss I just hovered and provided support via my hard light airstrike strafing runs

it is true, to traverse from gothom to metropolis you need to go through the watch tower. from the map screen in the start menu there is an option to warp to the watch tower but it can only be used so often and has a refresh timer

I think I got my first one around 17th level ... the Lantern Recruiter is in Metropolis at the Midtown Safe House ... he basically says that he is busy and that you will talk later then when you are able he will give you a mission. So you should be getting close now.

Ahh that's good to know ... it never occurred to me that, that mission was open to all ... I bought the DLC as soon as the game finished downloading so I didn't know any different.
Makes sense ... I'm just into 28 so I'm not far off of 30 ... looking forward to the full measure of the DLC.
OH and hey you guys you forgot to mention the Black Lanterns .... Frakk'n creepy.
Would be cool to see if they touch on the spectrum war in DCUO.

Might have to look at what hardlight powers I have up maybe they need tweaked a bit.

lol ah yeah, had that problem when jack joined our group last time. The mic settings are VERY sensitive and you need to crank your mic volume down to at least 60% in the game settings for it to clear up a bit

Didn't you make it through? Those brine hulks, were a pain in the ass... but if you go for the bigger ones then the smaller ones go away. What are your armor and might ratings? Mine are 839 armor and 773 might, high health helps too. I think those stats saved my ass quite a bit lol!!! I also, upgraded my weapon too... which gave me a 9.6 dps boost. I would look into upgrading my powers also... go with the stuff, that will damage and heal. the higher powers, give you 50% more damage for 15 seconds or until the counter resets... plus you can stack those nicely with others which will really put the hurt on. before I whooped Aquaman, I stomped Bruno Mannheim solo too. that was around lvl 24, which put me over the top to lvl 25.

You know what might have been my problem is I was DOTing all of the targets and didn't realized the big Momma Hulks were the best target ... Bet if I come at it again with a bit of different strategy I will fare a bit better.
I do need to take a good look at my stats and see what I might be deficient in, Up until now I have been choosing gear based on what has the most upgraded stats compared to another and not focusing on what stats might be lacking. Gonna have to change my approach there too.
AND I think it's time that I avail myself of the one or 2 points I have in "Hand Blasters" no use loosing out on some extra firepower.

Another thing to remember is that some powersets are better than others for specific content.

So I logged off and left Max a message, as to why I logged off... but he logged off before he could read it. I hope, he doesn't think I just didn't up and ditch him last night.
trust me, I know how you feel... Max and Havok could talk, but I couldnt... :-(
That's a prime example, as to why they need to fix it.

with me, i've had a 100% success rate with my mic if i turned it on in this EXACT order:
power up PS3
log into DCUO
accept a group invite or send some out
AFTER in the group, turn on the mic
once i get it going in this order it works fine with the exception of last night when I jumped into an alert with Jack and Actual, at which point my mic went out and didn't come back in. Once i powered off the mic, left the group and rejoined, then turned it back on my mic started working again but then Jack's started up. I use the first run of official PS3 bluetooth sets so i don't know if this method works only with that particular model or if it would work with various other headsets or not.
the most annoying issue i've come across is the sound randomly cutting out. most of the time it's just personal sound effects and speech that cut out, but last night i had it go completely silent making me wonder if my tv accidentally got muted or something. Sometimes going somewhere that brings up a loading screen fixes it, sometimes it doesn't but it's annoying and needs to be taken care of. If it's not an issue on the PC as well then I don't suspect it will be addressed with any form of urgency

I hit lvl 30 and all new quests opened up in the Watchtower. After Brother eye I'm going to bring down the Penguin, to shoot for some victory marks and buy some new armor.

When I jumped on with Havok he was saying how he hasn't really had more than a few minutes of queue'd time, whereas a few times now i've been dropped into the queue with 2,500 or more in front of me. Not sure if that's a difference from premium to basic or just random luck

Well it depends on traffic, if they are having high volume like say on a weekend…. then yes you'll get dropped in a queue (if you're FTP, Free to play). If you bought an expansion, then you'll get priority over FTP(meaning faster access). But if you're Legendary, then you get the highest priority over everybody.
Also, there might have been a roll back on the servers last night. So if you did anything (recently, meaning last night. clarification, for those of you freaking out night now) where you made progress... you might wanna check it again today. Because you might, have to do it again as a result of that happening.

/flex (Flexes muscles)

all of those commands are in the social and emotes menus on ps3 (left and down on the d-pad, respectively) with the exception of i think bug report and flag for pvp, with i think are on the action menu (up on the d-pad)
one that i did find helpful was:

as Havok said, refer to the list we made in this thread with everyone's player names and add them to your friend's list. It's important to remember that you need to add each person's PLAYER name, not their PSN ID.
to add friends in the game, press left on the d-pad to bring up the social menu when you're in the game. from there select friends and select add new. my terminology may not be exact but it should be easy enough to find it. If you were successful it will tell you as such in the chat log in the lower left corner of the screen, i.e. "MaximusR3 was added to your friends list" or it will tell you if there was an issue, like "Maximus_R3" was not added, player not found"
once everyone is added it will show you who is online and who is off from within that friends menu within the social menu. select a name of an online player and it will give you a few options, including invite to group. once you are grouped up with people, you'll want to make sure you are phased with them or you won't be able to encounter each other in the game. when you get a group invite it usually asks if you want to phase with the group leader, in which you'll want to select yes. If you accidentally hit no you can still phase manually by selecting the person's name within the friends or group menu and choosing the phase with option.

These are the ps3 players I added last night. Also got to 11, so I have more ground to make up. not bad for only a couple of nights work. I have tried to do the lower level gotham and metropolis stuff alone . I do have two questions,

1. The sound cuts in and out from time to time, usually a quick visit to any PD station fixes it.
2. I havent seen anything that indicates buying the Legend status is necessary, if you buy any of the DLC packs you automatically get upgraded to the Premium status.
As for the high lvl trolls, it sounds like you/your son may be on the PvP version of the game. Change to PvE and nobody can attack you without permission.

There's a place in the Watchtower that you can change to PvE I think. Or it may be in the lower left menu. Try changing it in the menu first.
I plan on making 2 more heroes, BatHavok, and SuperHavok!

Havok, did you invest into legendary powers branches yet? If not, I suggest you do so... get the defense boost right off the bat. it will boost your defense by 100 points. Start looking at some of those powers. The hard light sheild, looks like it will be a big help too... when you're in a pinch.
After I invested in those powers, I was able to steamroll Aquaman on my second alt... first run through. So check them out, when you get a chance. P.S. did I mention I was one whole lvl below the suggested when I did it LOL.

Chainsaw, Triple Mini-Guns, Chompers, Spinning Weight, Heat Vision, Apache Attack, and Soder Cola for my consumable.

Go into your powers and find the iconic powers tab. Select it, then pick what you want... some are innate other's aren't. the innate buffs start around lvl 22. things like the hardlight shield aren't, you have to add it to your power line up.

It' could be… but it listed a defense boost of a hundred points. I also found out, that you can learn a second weapon. When you do learn a second weapon, innate buffs from that second weapon you learn are permanently applied… if you're using the weapon or not. that's why, I just invested in the bow as my second weapon. The bow, has some great innate buffs and I like the idea of the extra boost too.
