View Full Version : Would someone like to create a USMG "comic" collage?

Don't ask me why this idea came to me, but I thought it would be really cool if we had some sort of "family portrait" of the most current USMG members. I was thinking something drawn in a "comic book" or anime style. Whoever the volunteer to do this is (and God bless you for being ambitious enough to try), would have pictures of members e-mailed to them, which they could then put together into a collage. Some ideas similar to what I'm thinking of (but by no means the absolute way these would have to be done):

a japanimation style one like that anime megamix pic (the middle one with naruto, avatar, full metal alchemist, etc) would be awesome. I would be easy to draw too, as i look like a ninja in all black :mrgreen:

Wow, thats like over 100 people!! :o :arrow: :shock: :arrow: :? :arrow: :| If I didn't have 16 credit hours on my plate (while being 3000 miles away right now), and a 10 month old son, I think could I do a quarter of it!! I don't think I'd have the free time for that. Its definately a challenge though. ;)

I don't think we would probably have much more than 50 participate, but I think this is a KICK ASS idea! I would do it, but I have no skillz! :(

I would say you are pretty much on the money. Our caption contest doesn't get nearly as much participation that I though it would. :(

This thread hasn't been alive in well over a year and a half. Now that we have even more talented artists in our ranks, it's time to revive this and see if anyone is interested in giving it a shot.

I used to draw comics in my free time years ago. I could dust off the art gear and give it a go. Want anything in particular? Have a theme or idea in mind? It will all be freehand tho, just a warning lol

Whatever you think you want to do. You could look at people's pics from various sources like our own Pictures thread(s) or Facebook. It's totally up to you.

So I sat down for a bit and gave this a shot. I had the idea of a group shot of the Staff members. I'm gonna have River in the center holding up a "USMG STAFF" sign and the other Staffers( or maybe just the 6-Pack) surrounding him. This is what I've got so far:

After seeing the talent of of Dev & Design crew, plus knowing many other members are particularly adept at this type of thing, I'm wondering if I'm the right person to do this. I am, after all, just sketching. Some of the other guys like Jack, RogueScot, Ironhide, and Chet, just to name a few, are WAY more qualified than me I think.

Thanks Jack, but even after I'm done with the sketch, that's it. I don't have the know-how to go any further. I'm like the penciller that has no knowledge of how to ink a page

You just trace the lines you made in pencil with your pen. Micron for fine detail and Sharpie or Prisma for thick, for everything in between speedball/BIC or anything else really. A light box and some beni no bleed and you're good to go.
I wonder how pro comic artists do this shit....
