DICE details upcoming Battlefield 4 patch fixes
DICE releases some notes on the upcoming BF4 patch, set to fix the game crashes and freezes.
Battlefield 4 has been plagued by issues on the PC (and consoles, to some extent) ever since it launched. The game constantly crashes and freeze, to a point where it’sunplayable and not worth the money. To make matters worse, the recent server patches have resulted in even more server crashes lately.
While DICE initially remained silent, they’ve now spoken up for the first time, detailing the fixes that are scheduled for an upcoming Battlefield 4 PC patch.
DICE notes that players have been experiencing crashes on all platforms, and that they are looking into this and fixing them as they are identified. Some crashes are caused by the server software, which they are also working on fixing.
They also aim to fix the issue with lost progress and stats, which is related to the crashes and freezes. When a server crashes, stats are generally lost, but if the player client crashes, stats are usually saved on the server. Lately though, neither the client or server have been stable.
Finally, DICE is also looking into the audio bug, where audio would be delayed or loop on certain maps (or completely cut off).
Battlelog has also recently been updated to add server queues and the “stats reset” button for Premium players. They are also working to fix some of the promotionalBattlePacks, which aren’t working.
As for a patch release date, DICE didn’t give any specifics, only that they are working on the Battlefield 4 PC patch and that they hope to release it soon. They are first focusing on issues that are affecting a large number of players, mainly the crashes and freezes.
It might take a while before we see the patch released, as it has to go through proper testing and certification, especially on consoles. Hopefully the new fixes will be part of a day-one patch on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One when they launch later this month.
