Trying out a new segment called "Call of Battlefield Duty" includes Playstation 4 gameplay from Call of Duty: Ghost and Hardcore Battlefield 4 China Rising DLC Team Deathmatch with commentary. In this video I discuss why I make Battlefield 4 gameplay videos and why I am adding COD: Ghost to the mix.

I am a Noob in gaming- having only consistently played Defiance most of the year. I have played some of the Halo games sporadically, but it is all a big learning curve for me. As for Call of Duty Ghosts...well I completely agree with the reflex speed concept. Younger players are going to have faster reflexes. I would also like to point out the variety of "perks" in the game that add to that. Perks for speed, agility, etc. I am playing SQUADS mode to learn and practice. I am really, really poor at this game. I am noting slight improvement as I play more. I doubt I will ever shoot as well as an AI however, but ...as for Battlefield 4...I played single player on 360 and had consistent problems with the game freezing and resetting. I have had recent problems with COD: Ghosts suddenly disconnecting from the 'net and telling me I need a live internet connection. I check and it is plenty live, so I don't know what that is about. I am playing Ghosts on XBOXOne. As an activity to address PTSD, I am thinking that playing these games is perhaps a form of systematic desensitization for you. The Army is using rough virtual reality to address PTSD for combat veterans with some success. I know you said that making the videos was a form of therapy for you, but I am just suggesting that the actual games may be therapeutic too. I do not know the source of your trauma so I may be off base there. Video game are also being used to work with those who suffer TBI and even dementia patients at John Hopkins.

Thank you, for the feedback I really appreciate it and you may be right about the treatment. You may already know this, but is your NAT open on the router and have you given your Xbone a static IP?

Here are some good steps to take to improve your connection


How to Enable an Open NAT Type on the Xbone

Xbox One Settings:


On the Xbox One go to Settings -> Network Settings


Verify your NAT type in the “Current Network Status” section – If it’s open there’s no need to change anything, if it’s closed then you’ll have to manually change some settings


If the NAT type is closed you need to select Advanced Settings from the options under Network Settings


In Advanced Settings select IP Settings, and then choose Manual
In this menu you’ll need to enter in a static IP address, a subnet mask, and a gateway address. Most home networks will be on an IP range of 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x, so you will need to choose an address that no other device on your network is using.


To find out your network’s IP addresses you can go to a PC and open the command line and run ipconfig /all – this will return the IP address of the PC (can’t use same for Xbox One, but will let you know your IP range), subnet mask, gateway address, and DNS addresses used on your network


The subnet mask and gateway address you find will be used for the Xbox One, but you’ll need to pick a different IP address. Try picking one that ends in .100 or higher since those addresses rarely get used on home networks with only a few devices.
With those three addresses in hand you can fill out the required fields for manually setting up an IP address on the Xbox One – enter them in with the controller and save the new settings


Once you enter in the manual IP settings you’ll have to do the same for DNS, so choose “DNS Settings” on the same screen where you changed the IP settings in the previous step.


Take the DNS information from step 6 and fill in the primary and secondary DNS server fields and save your settings


You should now have an Xbox One with static IP settings, so you can turn it off in preparation for the next step


Router Settings:
You’ll need to be able to access your home router’s admin interface for this piece of the puzzle. Search the Internet for your router’s model number to see how to connect to its admin pages if you’re unfamiliar with that process. Typically you can just browse to the gateway address you found in step 6 above in a standard web browser to pull up the admin interface. You will need a username and password though, so refer to your router’s documentation for that information.


Once you access your router’s admin interface you should see an option for either “Advanced Settings”, or something along the lines of “Port Forwarding”. Basically, you need to get to your router’s port forwarding settings.


In the port forwarding section you’ll see a configuration similar to the one below
This is the section where you have to enter the IP address that you assigned to your Xbox One in step 8 above, fill in the IP Address field with the Xbox One’s IP address on four separate lines in your Port Forwarding screen.


Once that is in place you can fill in the specific ports (3074, 88, 80, and 53) to forward for each of the four lines you just added. Use the image below for reference and copy the port information and protocol information exactly as it appears to your setup.


Once that is done click Apply or Save, and then close out of your router’s admin interface


Turn on the Xbox One and verify that the changes took effect by viewing your Network Settings again. If everything was entered as planned you should now see a NAT type: Open status where you saw it set as Strict before.


With the Open status you should no longer have issues chatting with certain friends, or joining multiplayer matches.

I really, really, appreciate your suggestions on how to stabilize my XBONE. I gotta be honest here- I am in no way skilled enough in technology to follow your recommendations. This problem has only occurred in the last couple of days, but if it continues...I will call in Geek Squad to take care of my baby. Heaven help me if I took down my whole network. Since I had Comcast in here a couple of months ago when I increased Internet speed and upgraded all my services, and the guy new I was using Xboxes, I would hope he took stabilization into account. He was a gamer so...

I thought I was hot stuff just hooking the XBONE up Christmas day. LOL As for the 360...the only game I have had problems with is Battlefield 4. I will poke around in the settings some just to see if I can see anything you are talking about.

I am very at this game and all of the Call of Duty games. I am a Noob in gaming.

That being said, I have mostly played Squads in an attempt to practice. I am seeing a lot of "I shoot but they don't die. " I think at times I am too slow, but I have also noticed times that despite hitting the trigger mechanism, my weapon fire is delayed. I think this may at times be lag. The last coupe of times I have played this has been quite frequent. A few days ago I was not having this problem and I was doing fairly well- for me anyway. I am on the East Coast and my set up is Comcast with Burst speed. It is also possible that part of this may just be I have slower reflexes than I need to play this game.

I enjoyed your video on Battlefield and particularly your commentary as you went along. With the promises of patches and fixes, I am going to give Battlefield another try- on the 360.

Thursday night is Battlefield night for most USMG players and you should be able to get in with some USMGers on 360 (in both COD and BF I highly recommend playing with a group/party it really increases the enjoyment and improves the experience) and helps mask a lack of reaction time by using teamwork.

I will be playing on PS4 tonight after I put my girls to bed (I sold both of my 360s w/games and accessories and my PS3 w/games and accessories to payoff my PS4 and video capture equipment and almost all the PS4 games I will want in 2014 while back...good thing too since I lost my job and am doing the stay-at-home Dad thing while do my PTSD treatments).

Daily bronze and weekend silver battlepacks which can include XP, boosts, character skins. Some unlocks and community goals. I am looking at this on my phone from Polygon. Premium members get even more stuff. A double XP weekend...

Maybe now I will go back in and enter the codes from all those Slim Jims I ate when the game first launched. LOL All my stuff kept disappearing so I stopped entering codes and playing...that and freezes and resets.

I will jump in tonight. I have never played the multiplayer part of BF4.
