Seems like an industry move to sell more HDMI cables to me. I've used HDMI from day one and couldn't see using anything else anyway.

I hate that cause my tv doesn't even have a hdmi and im perfectly happy with my component input option and say could i use my ps2 coaxle cable on the ps3?
