The kids love 'em! Luckily the hospital I'm playing for is right down the road so if I were to do this, and had some left over, I could just run them down there and give them to the staff to give to the kiddies.

Thanks man. Yea it's been rough but we have held strong and to each other since it happened. The worst part was I was deployed when he was diagnosed and 48hrs later he had passed away. It was a rough 22 hour flight back to the states when I found out.

Hey guys I feel real dumb to even ask this but I am looking for some Ideas.....I have tried everything I can think of...I have done email blasts, Text blasts, called some people........I am not doing terrible, I have raised $75 but that is not even close enough to what I wanted for myself...It is a bit depressing.... It seems like every place is doing something for donations the past couple months, That is the excuse I keep getting...I gave to this and I gave to that....So anyway does anyone have an out of the box idea!!!!!

Don't feel dumb for asking bro, even though it's a record goal already for us, donations have been very hard to come by this year. Honestly, some of my donations were "I owe you's" that I collected on or family. Anyway to answer your question, I feel bad saying this as the team captain, but I got nothing. The economy is still horrific here in IL, and most everyone I know is living paycheck to paycheck.

Hopefully some of our marketing gurus here have some insight.

Not the nicest ways to get donations because it makes people uncomfortable, but they aren't half as uncomfortable as sick children. Call people out in a public forum. Make them embarrassed that they can buy new things but not spare $10 for sick kids. Curse at them and make them feel like assholes. I got almost $500 last year doing that.

We posted up some good ideas back in this thread somewhere (good ideas means I contributed to the ideas...lol)
I mentioned hitting up your local Walmarts for donations. Each store has its own local charity funds. They will usually give up to $1000.00 depending on the cause and how it is presented. Some stores require the recipient to be a member of a non or not for profit organization. Some stores will also allow individuals to collect funds at the Walmart front doors and match the funds received during the day.
Check with your local Applebees also. Most will do a 'Pancake breakfasts' (for charities) on weekends .... In both cases you just have to ask. Print something official from the 'Extra Life' website so you look official and don't where a competitors t-shirt when talking to the managers....geeeez.
If you belong to a VSO (Veteran Service Organization) talk to their Auxiliarys, they are always looking to do a bake sale or yard sale for a good cause.

I had a ton of success last year by calling people scumbags and shitty humans for not donating to help sick kids. Not the nicest ways to get donations because it makes people uncomfortable, but they aren't half as uncomfortable as sick children. Call people out in a public forum. Make them embarrassed that they can buy new things but not spare $10 for sick kids. Curse at them and make them feel like assholes. I got almost $500 last year doing that.

With that said, I know many of you still have personal goals your trying to hit, and we're just shy of 2mo out. As captain, I can increase our goal so it may encourage more donations. What is the team's thought on this? I'm on the fence, I really thought $5k was going to be a reach considering it's double of what we did last year. Little did I know everyone would be coming full force this year!

I don't want to discredit the HUGE achievement of hitting our $5k goal (which we will hit), but I also want to raise as much money as we possibly can for the kids. So shout out.....

I don't think changing the team goal will effect how much we raise. I'd suggest leaving it, and using the overall amount as the basis of our goal next year.

Hey can one of the photoshop savvy people make me a banner for me to do a booth infront of the market. It needs to have what Extra life is, why they do it, who they do it for.
