I still have an hour left to go. That final hour I crashed and my wife needed some help with some stuff. I was falling asleep while helping her. She walked me to bed and that was it. I don't feel bad because the monsters made me crash hard. I was seeing shit lol... by the way. I hit level 40 in BF4 last night! Woot!
That last hour was the hardest to get through.

I just checked and we've raised $9,247.00!! Considering we set our $5k goal to be double what we raised last year, you guys are true heroes! I'm forever grateful to all of you, and would like to thank Kant asking me to be captain. It was awesome to see you all step up do so much for the kids that desperately needed our help! I'd also like to thank Smoke who I know was on the PS3 giving support to our guys playing for Extra Life! I'm sure there are others out there too, especially on Xbox, so thank you for having our backs and giving us much needed motivation when the gaming was tough!
With that said, I'm stepping down from captain for Extra Life 2104. As much as I've loved and enjoyed running the Extra Life campaign, I think it's in our best interest to have someone with military history take over. In going forward and trying to lock down some big donators/sponsors, it would "look" better for us if the captain was authentic to our roots. I'll still participate and help promote Extra Life, like you all have helped me this year. Thank you for all your support and help in making Extra Life such an important part USMG! I couldn't have done it without each and every one of you.
I'll be posting up the raffle winners on Monday night. I'm running out of steam quickly tonight!
Thanks John for being a great team captain this year. The stickers were amazing and if not for you I would not have been able to sport the Extra-Life t-shirt for the event. Thanks again brother for all that you do.:clap2:

It was a great time. Just woke up and I still feel completely wrecked. I did zone/pass out for about 45 minutes between hours 22-23 but snapper back into it and finished strong. I would also like to give thanks to the same people above. You guys are what made this event so special and a great time
I would like to thank everyone as well. We had a good time and it was for a great cause but man I'm glad this is only once a year.

I would like to suggest next year we get some guys to team up in the same room or location, I have done marathons with students at my work. The HS kids had a all night kitchen with parents running it and I opened the firewall and we had 10 projectors going in the cafeteria with 10 xbox's and a few ps3's. then we had a computer lab down the hall for the WOW kids.
I can travel myself and bring my own devices and screen or projector. schools are great for this.
Thats a great idea.

I just wanted to give a big thanks to a few people who carried me through the night as long as they could haha...
Thanks to Brandon (SnakeEyes), Rob (TenTonSledge), Rob (Port66), Rob (a1000ydStare03), Big Mike for checking in on us, Bond (Angels), Tim (Irish), Ray (BulletMan), Kyle (HagFish), JT (JTFrye), and if there's anyone else I missed I apologize, running on 3 hours of sleep. I truly appreciate the experience.
I agree with Brandon though if they decide to do this on Daylight Savings next year I am punching a baby. Lol
It was quite entertaining, checking in with a few of the parties during the event. I saw the enthusiasm at the start, bashing and bitching in the middle, and then the 'library mood' kicked in at the end stages of the event. Nothing was recorded to protect your good names...lol
Mike
I'm gonna try and get the Battlefield Friends to team up with us for next year. Now that we talk on a regular basis and have been invited to be a Batttlelogger, I feel that I can probably get them on board for it.

Thank you everyone for the kind words! It's truly been my pleasure being captain the last 2yrs for Extra Life. I don't have any kids myself, but my wife and I have many nieces and nephews, and I couldn't imagine what some families have to go through. I'm just glad I could help in some way!
Kant I appreciate you having my back this year with the last minute situation, it just sucks it didn't happen. Just so you all know, Doc from Extra Life was working with the NHL trying to get them so sponsor our EL team! There was a San Jose Sharks player that was centered around the push, and he wanted to support military/vets in the process, so Doc wanted us to be the team. Unfortunately, this all came about days before the Event, and they couldn't get the details hashed out.
I look forward to seeing what Extra Life 2014 will bring, and what kick ass ideas USMG will come up with! If any of you have thoughts or ideas, hold on to them! We will post up a thread for ideas when we get started for 2014!
Havok you best not be playing! Lol congrats bro!

Actually I was thinking more along the lines of an animated cartoon "commercial" promoting the cause. But BFF swag is definitely a good idea! I have been thinking about going down to NC and visiting their studios, hang out with them, maybe do an interview or two. We'll see what happens

I got an email that says if I get my dollar amount up to $500, I'll get a silver medal. I think I'll just go ahead and top up to that amount and give myself even more of an excuse to play.
I am on BF4(PC or 360) and eve.
If we plan a time or a group to get together I can be on
What's the purpose of the 24 hour gaming event again? I forget. Don't they do something for how many hours you game?
Ok so remember when I said I was gonna ask the Battlefield Friends to help out in next years Extra-Life Drive? Well I did. And Jon (the Engineer) said he's interested. This was the email I got about an hour ago from Brent (the Noob)....
"Hey Finch,
We can certainly help in some capacity. Swag is no problem. I couldn't say if animation is possible at this point as it's so labor intensive and we haven't had a chance to breath in the last 3 years. We will have to play that one by ear. Some of the BFFs joining the game may be possible depending on how busy we are next November. We can also help by re-posting your event to make people aware.
Glad to hear your last event was a success and looking forward to helping you raise the bar. Keep us posted.
cheers, Brent"
So it looks like we have a sponsor for next year boys! I'll stay on top of them and see what we come up with.

Didn't know if everyone got the email but if there are still others looking to raise some money and use some stuff to give away, below is a link to get free PS3/Vita games. Extra life is pushing to get past $4M so they offered some free PS codes to hand out as incentives. Good job as always and good luck.

Yes, like Spyder said, after you sign up you will have your own donations page that you can customize. There's a "Support Me" button, and they can pay via CC or Paypal.
Hey Iron dose it cost us any thing to sign up! And how dose the playing time work???
KaNtSt0PMeH
11-14-2013, 13:33
It cost nothing. You can play to support others or sign up and have people donate to you. However we just completed the event on the 2nd of this month so we're gearing up for next year already. The play time is an honor pledge so you just pledge to play the marathon. Whether its video games or yard games all are included.

So I can play on my xbox then since I don't have a play station? And when will it start this year?
Most everyone on our team has played their 24hrs for this year, but technically the event is open until Dec 31. If you want to support the kids this year, feel free to push for donations and play your 24hrs when you can. This is an "on your honor" event, so your commiting to playing 24hrs of games whether it's video games, board games, card games, any kind of game. If you are going to play for this year, let us know and I'm sure we have some members that will join you online during your 24hrs for motivation. Also, you don't have to do all 24hrs straight, although most of us like to because it's epic!
Anyway, to answer your question, next years event will be towards the end of Oct-beginning of Nov, no date set yet. Feel free to let us know if you have any other questions! If you are gonna play for this year, let me know and I'll throw $10 your way!

That is actually a great idea but how would we do it across the US... We would each have to find someplace to hold it right? Like a target parking lot from 6am to 10 am..... Or from 6pm to 10 pm on a friday night.....

Fairly certain if we would want to do anything that would gain some traction we would have to register as a non profit. It would be hard to just say I'm a guy wanting to give toys to kids. Especially competing with Toys for Tots. Great idea but we'd need some research etc.

Thanks comanche, I got mine. Lol I'm not sure when they came in. Instead of the envelope being left on top of my desk, someone stuck in a desk drawer that I don't open that often. I opened it yesterday and there it was waiting for me. Thank you!!

Where was I at?
Since SSG G isn't around I'll say it for him, at Jared's Mom's house.

Especially hard to do when you look like Jared. Mustache, fully buttoned polo shirt, and a van that says "free candy" don't inspire much trust.
I think the idea of a toy drive is awesome, but I think the logistics of it, for our group, would be a bit much to be feasible.

Honestly, I would not want to take from all the work they do. I donate to them often. I do a lot of charity work with groups offline.

And it is an Awesome thought......I feel the same way Bro... I am also hoping in the future we will be able to, seeing we are getting our name out there more and more. When that happens our name is a few more peoples thoughts on a daily basis in everyday life.
